And unless Apple can somehow make 128MB of SLOWER video RAM equal 1024MB (read: 8 times more) of FASTER video RAM, there is still that memory issue that can't be fixed either way.

I got the idea that the 128MB of Iris Pro are actually faster than usual video RAM, since they are basically L4 cache. Though I might be mis-remembering.

Before the iMac refresh, I was expecting the 15" rMBP to have the Iris Pro. Now I think it will keep the dGPU - as there isn't much sense in giving the premium Apple notebook the same GPU as the base iMac which is approximately half the price.

A common sense think!

For sure the rMBP 13" will get the iris pro (I could bet for the 5100 in the low end, and maybe the 5200 for the high end, but less probably since this one cames with the quad core, or at least I think that read something like that (?) correct me if I'm wrong please)

But it doesn't have sense at all to give it to the 15" rMBP, the high end 21" iMac doesn't have it, a 750m instead, and besides all the comments about the iris pro 5200 being more or less equal to the 750m, apple clearly don't think the same...

I dare to say that for sure we're not going to see a iGPU 5200 with a dGPU 750m in the same tech spec, but maybe a 5100 with a 765m it's more realistic, or at least that's what I think :)

What's really telling is that they put it in the base imac and had the higher-end version with the 750M for $200 more. It's like they're admitting that it is a more premium GPU.

Less than 200$ since the higher end also have a better CPU and the option to also a better higher CPU. But yeah, that's the point!

22. is iPad day.
No one from Apple spoke of the macbook pro yet.

So calm down and wait until February :D

Last year when it was "iPad day" we got:

2012 "We've got a little more to show you"

0-14 Sales
14-25 Retina 13 Macbook
25-27 Mac Mini
27-38 iMac
38-46 iPad sales
46-69 iPad 4 / Mini
69-72 Cook Closing

So with 2013's "We still have a lot to cover" I find it hard to believe the event will not "cover" "a lot" of what they didn't update yet.

yes I know "cover" is also a play on ipads needing covers. But it also straight up says "a lot to cover". It would be a BIG let down if that means 2 things.

This thread always delivers.

Not common sense at all. You're talking about a desktop machine versus a laptop. Also, no way will the 13-inch get Iris Pro. Iris 5100 in a dual-core CPU for the 13.

----------

Anyone find it odd how quiet things are when it comes to the Retina Macbook Pro? No part leaks or anything, unlike the iPad or iPhone.

Not odd at all. Apple won't devote more than 2-3 minutes to the rMBP refresh at the event. It's really a small update. What the hell is supposed to leak?

What is there to leak if the form factor hasn't changed? To the untrained eye, all the cMBPs look exactly the same between 2008/2009-2012. The rMBPs are also likely to look the same on the outside from year to year.

"We still have a lot to cover" just means that they're bringing out new smart covers for the iPad. There will be no new electronics until Q3 2014.

Please remember that the iMac have laptop based CPU, GPU, mobo, RAM, basically all, or then why you think apple are successfully making so small desktop computer?

Yes, it's also truth that with the iMac you are not battery ant thermal restricted as a laptop, but this neither stop to making an approaching laptop. So, it's not insane or impossible to compare both, just compare them in older models and you will see they are quite similar.

And if it's "not common sense at all", then your logical is that it make perfect sense that you could buy an iMac with the same spec than a rMBP but a half price???

broadwell got delayed, probably to 2015. knowing apple, we probably wont' see a broadwell refresh until summer of 2015, bummer. i wonder if next year will then make a function refresh and not so much of the silicone. that'd be interesting.

also, i think it's impossible for apple to get Iris Pro inside the 13". there aren't any chips that can fit in their with the right TDP

Summer 2015? No way in hell it takes this long. I know i shouldn't be saying this looking at this thread but if Intel/Apple ******* me again, im done.

CPUs are from Intels DESKTOP Linup. Only the GPUs are mobile versions! IMO the iMac is neither a desptop nor a mobile device (when it comes to the hardware). It's a hybrid

No -- production was delayed to Q1 2014, which means the first Broadwell-equipped laptops could ship in summer 2014. But since Apple seems to like making people wait, I'd guesstimate that we'll see a Broadwell rMBP around November 2014.

It seems that all Apple has been doing since WWDC is the same as we all did: "Waiting for Haswell!"
I wonder if there is some internal Apple "Waiting for Haswell Mega Thread" ^^

You're probably right. One can dream about the WWDC debut though ;)
