1. Idk
2. I wouldn't :(

1. It says that it is new.
2. That's what I am asking.

Someone said something about grammar mistakes. It's because of my keyboard (3 years old Samsung laptop)

I wish that they make price drop and make the new generation rMBP 100$ cheaper like the MBA did.

Haha don't get it twisted, I was only refering to the homepage which sells the rMBP, not your english ;)

As far as I know the XPS 15 is kind of a bigger XPS 13. I own the 13 and the palmrest (black part) is made from magnesium alloy. It kind of feels rubbery, good part it gives grip. Gets dirty pretty fast though. For the people getting the XPS 15: I hope they improved it, but as far as I can see it's the exact same look and materials as the XPS 13.

They've modified the external build of the XPS 15 multiple times, the older one "15z" had more of a Macbook Pro design with magnesium alloy that has since changed and was thick, the one prior to the latest one had a CD drive and weighed over 5 pounds, the one now gets rid of the CD drive allowing for a thinner and lighter design.

The one you own is an older version of the XPS 15, this newer one, the one that just released October 18th, has a different external build that is machined aluminum and carbon fiber. Maybe for the reasons you mentioned.

I know all about the XPS 15 and how it used to look. I think you didn't read my post correct :p I own the XPS 13, not 15. The XPS 13 is the ultrabook line, but they look exactly like the new XPS 15. This is Dell's new design line, so I suspect the 15 to be mostly similar to my XPS 13 ultrabook.

hoping the base 13 will have 256gb as standard.

the mba has 128gb on the base models, apple needs to differentiate from the 2 models.

and what is this track record?

Look up the releases of MacBook Pro models dating back to the mid 2000s, as well as what the available GPU choices were on release. You'll pretty much never find the best GPU performance-wise in Apple laptops.

Mac users are so spoilt - one thing I don't care about with Haswell is battery life. I'm coming from a dell with 2 hours battery life for 7 hours is more than awesome to me.

I just want to the latest/fastest/greatest.

Better happen on Tuesday.

What does that have to do with Mac users being "spoiled"? Do you not realize that the entire point of Haswell is better battery life? This isn't a Mac or a PC thing—it's an Intel thing.

Also, I find it ironic and interesting that you start off talking about Mac users being spoiled, and then insist that you "better" get something amazing on Tuesday—unless you were intentionally referring to yourself as spoiled...

Someone has dared to make a poll about the political price for the incoming rMBP?

How about new prices guys? To get down, unchanged, rised up?
Bets are welcome :)

The commons sense changes to the rMBP13 is pointing to:

-PCIe flash
-Gigabit Wi-Fi
-2.0 MP FaceTime camera

Any reason to believe the MBP13 will get Intel HD Graphics 5000 vs. Iris 5100? Pundits are saying 5100 but I wonder...

Looks like no cMBP refresh.

Good riddance. :D

Hey! I have one of those machines. Been inside it so many times I put hinges and a knob on the underside. I will certainly miss that ability. :(

There's no real reason to go with the 17W HD 5000 parts because the 13" retina has plenty of thermal headroom for the 28W Iris 5100 part. Plus I would imagine Apple wants to give the 13" rMBP a bit of a performance advantage over the Air.

anyone know if I can walk in at the apple be store in covent garden or regents street in London and pick up a base 13" model one on first or second day of release?

my student loan is ready!!! hashtag excited!

I don't think the Air vs. MBP13 distinction has ever been the iGPU though. Both had/have HD4000. Now the Air has HD5000 and I can only wonder if Apple might keep these two attributes in sync because history is on their side. Just saying this chess game and balancing of iGPU's across 3 different laptop models is much more interesting now.

I used to leave the screws a little loose until I was satisfied with whatever my most recent upgrade was. I miss that capability too.
You still have working screws left? Two of mine are stripped. I had to intentionally cross thread them.

So 13" MBA vs MBP 13" : sharper display(retina), better CPU, a slightly better iGPU...there is anything else?

But the only chips with HD 5000 graphics are the ones that are already in the Airs.

In order to have any performance improvement over the Airs Apple either has to go to a 28W chip with Iris 5100 or a 47W chip with Iris Pro 5200.

- More ports (2x Thunderbolt and HDMI)
- Possibly a 16GB RAM option
- Larger SSD options (MBA tops out at 512GB, MBP will likely go to 1TB)
- Better cooling. Two fans and dedicated intakes on the MBP, while the Airs just have one fan and no dedicated intakes.
If you're going to max out the CPU for long periods of time (video encoding, rendering, etc.) then the MBP should stay cooler and not have to throttle the CPU as much.

Is the 15" Retina going to get that much of a bump? Haswell I really don't care about that much but I'm more concerned about the GPU. Is it just worth it to wait?
