Is the 15" Retina going to get that much of a bump? Haswell I really don't care about that much but I'm more concerned about the GPU. Is it just worth it to wait?

Well at this point you're only looking at a 2 day wait, so it would be kinda silly not to.

Even if the Haswell update doesn't seem worth it to you, you could then get a better price on a 2012 or early 2013 model from a reseller or Apple's certified refurbished section.

Hmm. I guess.

I've been hearing some people debating if we're getting them Tuesday, or next February. I guess no harm in waiting then. The thing is I'm not going to have a laptop for 2 days and I might have some stuff to get done, but I suppose I could find an alternative.

I live in the UK... if it does get announced on Tuesday does anybody know exactly when I'll be able to hit the buy button and when it will roughly arrive?

If you don't have a computer at all and need one to do work then sure go ahead and buy one. Apple has a 14 day return policy so you could always just bring it back.

The commons sense changes to the rMBP13 is pointing to:

-PCIe flash
-Gigabit Wi-Fi
-2.0 MP FaceTime camera

Any reason to believe the MBP13 will get Intel HD Graphics 5000 vs. Iris 5100? Pundits are saying 5100 but I wonder...

Hey! I have one of those machines. Been inside it so many times I put hinges and a knob on the underside. I will certainly miss that ability. :(

What's the difference in performance and how much of a boost will it be on hd4000

Why not wait literally a few days to see the hands-on reviews and benchmarks?

It will be an amazing boost. There's plenty of reviews and articles about it too.

Don't forget the average age of the other posters. How many do you think remember those?
My first PC came with a 2,5" drive and half a GB of memory.
Oh wow. Madam, you are still a pup. Try working with 4kb memory (Yes, that's Kilobytes).

And we had to build those machines ourselves. Using butter knives, ice tongs and toothpicks. Outside. Nekid. In the snow.

Oh dear, I remember the 4kb days. Golden.

No standard macbook pro refresh?

Well, dammit. I knew the resolution wasn't too great, but retina was bad as well, as I would be dual booting Windows 7 for a good majority of the time.

I want to ask you about the main improvements of:

HD Graphics Intel (MBPr 13)

vs

HD Graphics Intel
GeForce GT 650M NVIDIA with 1 GB of GDDR5 (MBPr 15).

The day´s coming and I don´t know which one to get yet (13 vs 15). And of course difference between i5 2core and i7 4core. And if you can pay 16gb RAM instead of 8GB.. I know it will be better but i want to know your opinion.

It may be a very silly question, of course the 15´s performance is higher but.. how much? I mean, if you´re not always doing bootcamp for gaming and you just want a new macbook to last 5-6 years... internet browsing, video converting and vmware for some windows programs (office i.e.)...

What do you thing?

(My current macbook white late 2007 died today.. Anyway I took the decision to get a Haswell one months ago so.. just a bit sad..)

With those uses, I would suggest that the primary issue for you is not performance differences between the 13" and 15". For the tasks you list, the 13"/15" performance will be more similar than different.

Rather, it sounds like your first question should be whether you prefer the larger or smaller screen, followed by a second question of whether the somewhat better portability of the smaller machine matters to you.

More RAM isn't going to be better unless you actually use it. Same with the processor, although you'd notice that more so than free RAM. And for your uses, and for most people, you're not going to notice a difference between the GPUs.

So get the size/model that interests you the most.
