Hello,
Will be Retina MacBook Pro user-upgradable? Memory, SSD.

Thank you.

Since it's (probably) going to be the same as the current rMBP, yes to SSD, no to memory.

Though in the end, nobody here can look into the future. So I would wait one more day to get a correct answer.

Brings up another question, on which website will u follow the live blog?

Well since the event is at 7 in the evening here in Sweden, all stores that carry the rMBP lines will be closed in time for the release, even if its the same day.
So I'm not going to get my hands on one until the day after, if its a immediate release.

And I'm not going to be home between 7-9, so i actually think I'm going to go media blackout stile and wait for the event video to be released.
I rather watch that then read trough some live blog about it.

Since i cant do anything until the morning after anyway, this seems like the best way to experience the release :)

Going to be some agonizing hours of wait tho :S

I can say how ever that I've never been this excited about an Apple product before. And I'm a really early adopter, have bought all the iPhones on release day, and some of the iPads.

This is by far the most exited I've been about a product tho. But that probably have more to do with the fact that I've been with out a laptop for 6 months now waiting for this. And been reading this thread daily, really haven't helped ease my anticipation ^^

Haha hello fellow Swede!

Let's say that tomorrow at 18:30 GMT apple announces the updated rMPBs saying that they are available to buy now. How much time is it needed to arrive to stores in the UK? Do they have them pre-stocked and release them when the announcement is made? Is it faster to order online and have it the next day or it worths going to an Apple Store (most of them close at 20:00 in the UK) the same day and buy one?

I'd say Friday! There always leak some package numbers etc. 2-3 days prior release.

I will be in Munich on Wednesday and there is an Apple store. Do they have them for presentation there, one day after the announcement.

I know you are all excited but you need to remember none of us know when the new MacBook Pro's will become available.

Questions like "Will they be in store after tomorrow?" simply cannot be answered by us in this thread. You'll just need to wait until tomorrow.

We're all passing out our last thoughts until tomorrow when they all will be answered...You can never ask enough when it comes to this

I'll be disappointed if this thread doesn't reach 15k posts by launch :D

I'll be ordering the second they are available along with an iPad mini retina.

Yesterday someone told me TB2 is not very likely. Why? Because video editing with daisy chained 4K Cinema Displays will demand more than the Iris 5100 (not Iris Pro) GPU can handle. Unless the rMBP limits the use of the TB2 connector to one 4K Cinema Display.

One of the rumors is that the rMBP is going to get a PCIe SSD like the MBA got this year.

I can't find a source selling upgrade PCIe SSDs yet. I agree that eventually they should be available, but at the moment it appears you will be stuck with whatever SSD size you order with your rMPA.

http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...-2013-how-to-replace-upgrade-ssd-storage.html is one source explaining this.

To all the people wondering if it'll ship with Mavericks. I remember reading a few weeks ago on this thread that corporate users have to wait up to six months before a new OS can be used on their networks.

I speculate that because the MBP is used by corporate users, it will come preinstalled with Mountain Lion and released Tuesday, obviously with a free install of Mavericks for whomever chooses it. The fact another Mavericks GM was only released this weekend may suggest this could be the case.

I have no inner knowledge of how corporate networks operate and I'm just recycling information posted here. It may be complete ********, therefore my speculation complete ******** too. But food for thought. :)

I don't recall any instance in which new Apple machines where shipped with an old os when a new one was available. Plus they have long made clear that the corporate world is not their main focus.

Ah sorry. My point was with such a recent GM of Mavericks being released, it may not be released to consumers from anything up to 2 weeks time. Therefore the time the rMBP is released, Tuesday, Mountain Lion will be the current OS.

I didn't make it very clear.
But it's just an idea. I realise it's a less likely proposition. Just a bit of blue sky thinking.

I've seen some silly rules on corporate networks I'll grant you, probably far more silly than that, but that's a new one to me. Presumably Apple don't have that rule though! I can't see it being on their minds.

gonna get my first macbook pro!!!!!! gonna be spending every last penny in my poor student's bank account to get that 13".

(and yea im dead impoverished.) :(

I can assure you that is the unfortunate circumstance at my company for most users, and actually I wouldn't be surprised if it's not closer to a year before most see Mavericks on their macs. Fortunately the policy is slightly more lenient in IT and we should only have to wait 4 months or so. I do also agree that Apple is likely unconcerned with our corporate policy.

I will also follow Engadget's liveblog (in case of no livestream). Tried several sites' liveblogs, but they're nowhere near as good as Engadget's.

The new MacBook Pros will definitely ship with Mavericks -- else, why wait to update them. The chipsets they can use from Intel have been out a couple months now (at least), and realistically, Apple probably could have got them sooner than many other vendors (like they did with some of the past MBA refreshes). Given Apple is a for-profit company, if they have a product done, they'll typically release it and not sit on it. (see iMac refresh).

Since many of Mavericks' new features are mobile-centric, I think they'll want to tote the new MBP/MBPR battery numbers using Mavericks data in their presentation. Can't really do that effectively if you don't release that software alongside the new hardware.

On the new GM seed --

It's reasonable to expect that they'll just have a Day 1 update to install to bring the build pre-installed version to current release. This has happened a couple other times in the past, where you unbox your shiny new Day 1 Mac, and it has updates already available.

----------

Maybe Apple will live stream it - or did I miss that they will not?

I think they will stream this event. They don't usually stream events on their campus (see iPhone 5c/5s event), but this event is at the Yerba Buena Center, and they streamed the last time they were there.

Tim Cook has stated their current campus isn't a good experience for streaming, not sure if that's accurate or not though.
