How does it look terrible? It's a laptop, that can convert into tablet mode. Has a super high resolution display, is specced waaay better than a Macbook Pro and is much better value for money. Yeah that's terrible alright

Don't feel bad. You're not the only one here considering things other than a Mac. I'm also on the fence most likely between a rMBP and a Yoga 2.

I don't feel bad but thanks for the kind words.

I'm waiting to see what all the "waiting" was about :)

Is it worth the weight and the money? A lot more options are available now than there were before the release of Win8.1. If Apple just updated in June like everyone else I would have bought one already, but they hold on and here we are half way through the life cycle of the processor and only now they're updating it. It needs to be something special not just an update and new improved slimness.

The yoga 2 sucks (in comparison to macbooks)... I wouldn't bother.

I bought the yoga 2 pro i7, 8gb, 256gb for $1200 from bestbuy and returned it the next day. The build quality is just terrible in comparison to any macbook. I was sad, because I wanted to like it. (screen wobbles & does not open with 1 hand / keyboard & touchpad dont even come close to macbooks / made of plastic... )

Then I think you are going to be disappointed, no?

I think most people on this thread are going to be disappointed.

Because it's just a minimal update like what the MBA got? Come on, some people are expecting too much here. I'm going to be stoked, and I know I'm not alone.

Well that's that sad for you. I heard some good reports and some like yours but I'm willing to take a chance on it, it suits my needs and the value for money is through the roof imo. i7 8gb 256gb for $1200 is pretty damn good. I heard people who watched 4k on it and were gobsmacked by the quality. Plus I'm used to using Windows laptops. I have used a lot of windows trackpads in the past, so I don't mind if they're not perfect I'm still able to use them. I want a really good screen though as that's what you look at all the time using any digital device.

Maybe, just hope it's more than update haswell, why else wait so long.

Well, expectations grow with each passing day, and both the rMBP and the MBP have had the longest times between updates ever. Don't mean to be a bummer in this thread of excitment, but nothing Apple will announce tomorrow (unless it's IGZO, a higher res screen, a redesigned chassis, or something similar, including a significantly lower price point) will excite me.

True, to each their own. If you like it then that is good for you, and I will admit, specs for $, it is a good deal (which is why I gave it a shot in the first place)

I also forgot to mention (this is what tipped the scales for me), it only gets ~6 hours of battery life on light usage (just basic, light web browsing, medium brightness). That is too low for me.

I do see your point, but plenty of people in this thread need none of those things to be excited tomorrow. Sure, IGZO would be nice, but I really don't expect that until next year.

I just want it to be faster than my 2009 13" C2D with a bigger screen... I don't think i'm gonna be disappointed. If it wasn't worth the wait, we could always get the current model refurbed, and save a ton of money. whether the update is "big enough" or not, I'd say it will be worth the wait.

I don't expect it, and I understand that when people have been waiting this long, the promise of a new product tomorrow is exciting. But the wait has made me less excited, not more.

And I care because?

Apple's design is fairly bland at this stage. The design hasn't changed apart from slimness over the years. They're still using essentially the same design as 2008. It's flexible because it has a double hinge and it's strong because it needs to be, you Troll.

Mac OSX ain't that great anymore. Sorry.

This is just too funny.... you can't even take a joke even when all hints point that it was a joke. Oh well, what can you say. It makes me wonder why you sound so bitter. Oh well, more macs for us.

I would invite everyone to take a deep breath and review the MacRumors "Roundup" for the MBP for a look at what we can realistically expect from this refresh:

AT A GLANCE

The next iteration will provide slight processor improvements along with increases in battery life.

SPECS

Haswell processors
Improved battery life
Gigabit Wi-fi
1080p FaceTime Camera
Late 2013 Release

(Note that you can also safely add PCI-e based flash storage to that list.)

And there's your late-2013 rMBP. Anything we get above and beyond that is Thanksgiving gravy.

Feel free to refer back to this post as needed tomorrow in between bouts of sobbing about the new model's lack of an IGZO display, Thunderbolt 2 ports, etc. ;)

Unlike some/most people, I've never had a mac so this will be my first macbook. Truth be told, the current rMBP would have exceeded my needs because all I wanted was a professional grade machine with lots of RAM and storage. It may sound simplistic, but that's Apple. They have very limited products on offer when it comes to the macbooks and configuration is down to ram and storage. Try shopping for a Dell laptop and you'll see what I mean.

Back to Apple. I decided I wanted something different and OSX is definitely different. I considered buying 2 laptops - mac and pc - until I learnt I can efficiently run windows on mac. And with that went the budget.

The only reason I waited was because I believed something new was around the corner. If someone had told me - back in Feb - that the release date was October, I would have purchased one back then and called it a day. But nope, that was not the case.

At this point, if Apple releases the same macs that are available but with the tiniest smidgen of change, that's good enough for me. I've waited so long that if you offer me a 3-legged dog walking in a haze of fleas and an apple sticker on it's muzzle, I'm sold.

Honestly, I just expect a high end 15" rMBP with 2.8/2.9GHz i7 quad core with a decent dGPU with 512 GB SSD and I am sold.

Anything else — whether it's a redesign or a new color or any other upgrade is simply a cherry on the top. I've been waiting long enough. I just need another Mac to start with some of the work my 5-year old late 2008 MacBook just cannot handle.

I'll be stoked if there's a new rMBP out tomorrow that's shipping this week. It's going to be incredible.

Agreed. Just want a retina macbook pro. Didn't want to get a mid cycle one back in April. The macbook Pro's are great laptops. I'm in need of a new one... it's time. I'm glad my current MBP made it this far so I could get a fresh generational release.

Reminds me of this song from BGR a number of years back...

I'm impressed. No new info on any new products the day before release. First time in a while everyone didn't know exactly what was going to be released the day before or so.

I think you misinterpreted my post. New rMBPs may be announced tomorrow, but there haven't been any leaked SKUs, so they likely won't be available tomorrow. Perhaps I'm wrong, we'll find out tomorrow I guess.

I think Freyqq was saying that SKUs for iPads haven't been leaked, and it's pretty much guaranteed there will be new iPads (even if one or the other isn't available for a few weeks). No SKU leaks for anything, so it pretty much means nothing for 15ish hours.
