The closer we get to the event, the more unstable people become lol. I'm now also starting to "worry" that it might not happen today. It's going to be awesome during the event, adrenaline rush and everything.

Adrenaline is right. My pulse is already a little higher. I do not plan on becoming unstable though ;)

Iris 5100 vs Iris Pro 5200

I was convinced to buy a 13" iGPU rMBP but the rumour in this post says that it will only get Iris 5100 and not Iris Pro 5200.

I quickly looked on the Web and I see that their only difference (quite important though) is the eDRAM of the 5200 model. Is my understanding correct? Could more experienced users comment on the impact that it will have for a media consumer user who only plays games once a month? Will 5100 be enough to handle youtube and other flash content or it will be a bottleneck? How does it compare to the 5200 experience?

based of the cpu list we all expected 5100 only in the 13"

there are other differences, L4 cache, max frequency, (as well as the edram)

the 5200 is considerably better than the 5100, however the 5100 is considerably better than last year's 4600
(from notebook check DOTA 2 ULTRA, 5200 = 40.7fps, 5100 = 21.5fps)

all of the igpus are fine to "handle youtube and other flash content" they will not be a bottleneck, you should be able to play all games at at least 1024x768 on them

Less than 8 hours...

Cannot wait to click on the Place Order button, possible today? :) rMBP 15, max out everything

Same here, love. In 6 hours, we'll either be passing out tissues or cigars - our baby could finally be here.

I think I'll be so proud of myself for having waited this long.

----------

The only retina on todays event will be iPad ;)

I have the feeling you are right on target..... as this is an Ipad event.

It's possible, but I hope we see it in the new and improved Mbp.

Predictions: iPad 5, iPad Mini (w/retina display), Mavericks (possible launch) and the Mac Pro.

No rMBP, I'm thinking either next week, next month or possibly early 2014. Of course this is all speculation and I can't back it up with evidence, but this is what I think will happen nonetheless.

It's 6 hours to Showtime and I have this gnawing feeling in my gut that this will not be our day. I have nothing to base this on. Maybe it's just the pre game jitters

In my case, I'm only wishing - I don't feel anything good or bad.

Yes, I've seen the list after I posted. Thanks for that.

I don't want to restrict myseld to 1024x768 because when I play games I do it on higher resolution using an external screen. It seems that I need a dGPU model then and the 13" variants can't afford it in terms of space and power. I am now confused (once again).

here are some benchmarks:

the 15" low base is expected to get the 47W 5200

the 13" is expected to get the 5100 which will be slower than the 5200

though these results get interesting:

The eDRAM is one difference. There is another one that is rly important. TDP of the chips. The Iris chips have 28W while the Iris Pro quadcores have 47W
So if you have some CPU usage too while heavily using the GPU the 28W. Hip whil probably throttle.

Can we reach 13,500 by the start of the event - 10pst? Just 63 posts to go.

Livestream on AppleTV! Will almost certainly be on Apple.com - it often gets on Apple.com one hour prior to the event or so. This is going to be the best Tuesday for MONTHS!!!! :D

I'm actually quite surprised that the leaked (however, no one knows if they're fake) specs shows Iris Pro in all 15", and Iris Pro + 750M in all higher specs. If this is true, it'll really be a beast! However, I thought the price of Iris Pro was too high to combine with a 750M that costs almost the same as the Iris Pro parts. But we'll see.

Apple.com but only Safari, right? :(

I hope it's on apple.com too. Yesterday I thought: doesn't look like an livestream is going to happen, I should go out with some friends (7pm here in europe). If there will be a strwam for the iphone there will not be much socializing! ^^

Great! Apple seems to do this from the events it holds at larger venues. Hopefully when they are on their new spaceship campus everything will be live streamed.
