Sales tax was around $200 for a $3000 system. If the student discount is available today, then I'm essentially getting a system for $200 less than I expected to get.

We'll see if that holds true with the new config options. Don't screw me, Apple.

Consider yourself fortunate. I live in a place where the total sales tax is close to 10%.

So you're saying get the option with dGPU?

If you are BTOing and have money to spare? Absolutely! The 750M is a pretty nice chip and a significant improvement over both the previous generation 650M and the Iris Pro in the base model.

John you're being a party pooper. For those that don't have any type of laptop, the new 15" is pretty great.

Sure it's marginal in a few aspects over last gen, but still, for those that don't have anything (like me) the new one is the one I'm getting.

Actually, I'm not trying to be a party pooper at all. Rather, I'm encouraging users to consider closeout deals on the previous models, as they may offer a significantly better value.

Indeed, all we gonna see is the iPad 5s, iPad 5c, iPad haswell, iPad mini, iPad micro, iPad retina, iPad classic... It doesn't say otherwise anyways, it's just an iPad event :( and it will be the greatest disappointment in life.

Hahahahahaha!

So how much is gonna be the 15" with NVidia? if the entry price is lower, it means that the "better one" will be the same price of the previous entry price.

what I said just sounds confusing, hopefully someone understood.
thanks !

And do you dare to complain for such a ridicolously low tax rate?

Why wouldn't I? In the U.S., that's pretty much the worst tax rate there is. (Sales tax is comprised of a state general tax and, usually, a local sales tax). If you're trying to make a comment about how the tax rates are higher in other countries, that's apples to oranges, no pun intended.
