Wow... iLife and iWork free??? So I don;t have to use my free version?

I like this, but what's the catch?

----------

iPAD - come on, end on a beautiful note.

I had to buy my 15" rMBP last month because I needed it for university. In a perverse sort of way I'm actually glad that the new ones are only marginally upgraded.

By the way, Mavericks is amazing. I get 9 hours of web browsing and about 4 hours of actual work (compiling things, watching videos, streaming music constantly), imagine what the new MBPs are going to get with Haswell!

I think this is just for apple. I live in IL and sales tax in Cook County is 10.25 or something like that. Just bought a Mercedes a month ago and I could have slapped someone.

Why... why didn't you get it somewhere else and drive it home?:confused:

macmall has always been the best deal for macs

http://appleinsider.com/mac_price_guide/

no sales tax and theres always a 5% off coupon available

I don't know about where you live, but I'm required to disclose if I purchased over $1,000 of merchandise outside my state when I do my yearly state tax return. I'm supposed to pay sales tax on the amount as part of my tax return as well.

Bit disappointed there's no 4k display or quad core in the 13", not that I really expected either. It likely means I'm going to go with a 15" even though I don't really want the bulk.

Actually, I'm not trying to be a party pooper at all. Rather, I'm encouraging users to consider closeout deals on the previous models, as they may offer a significantly better value.

Yea, but how about us first time mac owners who have waited 8 MONTHS! Look, at this point I'll pay for iFeces.

Ok IPad Air for the big one, with retina display.

And the small one? Will it get retina too?

yes, every single product is getting the retina treatment.
Only the mb air will be left for next year.
Once this is done, we can move on to IGZO !

So...

If you have no preference as to what OS you use, would the consensus be that the XPS 15 is overall a better laptop?

For some tasks, you actually have a superior machine. It all depends on a particular person's usage. I don't think acknowledging that fact—or being happy about it—is perverse at all!

There really isn't much bulk. It's slightly bigger than an A4 notepad, very manageable.

Although they didn't mention anything, I hope the display is IGZO. It sucks that they will wait a whole year to introduce that, something that is already available on other laptops.
