so basically, they have 3 "baseline" stock models? are they all gonna be in the store? i want the rMBP 13" with 8g and 256 ssd. will that be in the store?

Why isn't anyone getting 1TB ssd? My current laptop is 500GB HDD and I only have 12GBs free.

Because you can get like 1000 TB of storage for five cents in the form of external drives?

The SSD upgrade is still way overpriced. And ostensibly it's still a user-upgradeable component, so you can add more later if you really can't live with a "paltry" 512GB.

Ordered a 13" 2.4/16/256 ~1700$ CAD with 15% off that "canceled" the expensive taxes here in Québec (~15%) (a friend work in an Apple Store). Waited 4 months without any computer. Sold my Air 2012 back in end of June.

Edit: Following this thread since page 90 :D

Give it to me right...MEOW!

Awww, soooo close. Only had the 3.1GHz vs. 2.9GHz and an hour off on battery life. All-in-all VERY happy! :D

There you are! I got i7/256GB/8GB, 13-inch.

----------

Yup.

I got the i7/512GB/16GB 13in although originally I hadn't planned on getting the 512GB. I'm pushing 225GB on my current machine and plan to do more video editing so I guess I'll need it.

Right, I don't want to sound stupid and I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but what does the GHz refer to in the processor? I ask because the base 15" has lower ghz than the last model... I'm very much confused.

Also the Iris Pro will perform better than the 650 right?

Thanks and sorry for being an annoyance.

Ugh .. Singapore store 'ships mid-November', looks like the wait is still on for me. I'm actually starting to get used to my 11" air as a daily laptop, by then I'm not even sure I *will* be able to go back to 15 ..

Really? Hell yeah. What size/configuration?

You the man.

Will we ever know what really caused the delay? I'm just going to tell myself it was Thunderbolt 2 and leave it at that.

Probably TB2. I have to say, I'm more happy with the update than I thought I would be. TB2, free Mavericks, extra battery life, $200 off the price. No 1080p camera though, which seemed very likely...

See, B... you and I, we know the value of diminished expectations. ;)

GHz doesn't necessarily mean pure performance. Higher clocks are better generally speaking, but Haswell pushes more performance per clock. The base model (regardless of how many GHz) of the Haswell model will probably perform roughly 15% faster than the base model of the outgoing Ivy Bridge model.

Not really, Iris Pro will not outperform the 650M in 3D intensive applications, or games.

It will however, outperform the Intel HD 4000 which came with the 650M in last years model.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What configurations are you guys going for???

It was basic 15" with 16GB RAM option for :)
I do not need dGPU - especially the 750M one. And I went with just basic I7 2.0 GHz CPU, I want the laptop to be cooler, more lap friendly as well. (Hopefully)

Congrats to all of you!

I know right! I mean I don't mean to be all up in arms over a silly facetime camera, but seriously? I wouldn't be so pissed off if the current (and now current for another 12-16 months) 720p camera wasn't so bad.

I just wanna see if the 15" rMBP still heats up like an oven while watching youtube videos :D

is the 0.1GHz difference between the 2.4 and 2.6 i5 in Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency worth the price?

Hey guys, congrats to those who have it!

Question. I'm going to go for the 15inch. I want to get 512 storage instead of 256 as I have heaps of videos and music and this brings it up to 2.6k already with the educational discount. Is it worth the extra 100 for the processor upgrade from 2.0 to 2.3?

I'll be using it for lots of browsing, downloading, very occasional gaming and everyday use basically.

Cheers

Could someone try to explain me how big of a change I should expect going from a:

MacBook Air mid-2011 13'' (Mountain Lion)
Processor 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

to a:

MacBook Pro late-2013 13'' (Mavericks)
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB SDRAM DDR3L 1600 MHz
Graphics Iris

?

Also, will I be able to play some not to greedy games without any problems? I didn't buy it to play games, but I would be quite happy if I was finally able to play AgeOfEmpire 2 (which is impossible with my current machine).

Thanks for any help.

Why don't you go with 256GB and use external storage for large/not daily use stuff?

USB to Ethernet Adapter?

So glad the wait is finally over. I picked up the top tier 15" rMBP. My first MBP ever!

Have a question for you MBP veterans. There is not Ethernet port on the rMBP. I know there is thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter. But I have two external monitors and plan to use both thunderbolt ports for that. Is there a USB to Ethernet adapter that works for the rMBP? The only one I could find was this adapter, but it says it only works for MBP Air.

Any one have any suggestions?

Well, I haven't had a problem with a computer where I've had to return it after a couple of years, and AppleCare is 200$. I could use that money to get 16 GB of RAM, or maybe a larger SSD.

My machine also worked well for the three years I had it, but with AppleCare I was able to get a new logic board and trackpad for it as a means of future-proofing it just before the warranty expired. This, in theory, was going to make it easier to sell when it came time to upgrade. Unfortunately, it was stolen before I had a chance to put that theory to the test, but you see where I'm coming from.
