Finally got through school, work, and getting caught up on this thread so I can say...

IT'S HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Now the question is when will the stores get them so I can order for pickup? Want my 13" 2.4ghz i5 8gb RAM 256gb SSD!!! Need to give boyfriend back his Lenovo.

Also, what should I do with my mid-2009? I'm pretty sure it needs a new SATA cable and definitely a new battery. It also has recurring issues that I can only figure means logic board. Worth it to get it up and running again? I have a friend who might be able to use the parts to get his working again. Craigslist is low balling me since it doesn't boot currently. There's also Gazelle. I also heard something about Apple doing trade-ins?

But I'm so excited!!!! It's everything I expected. Hopefully the stores have them by the end of the week!

There you are! Whoops, I said that to APPLE-FANATIC a little while ago. Some of these posters seriously disappeared!

No idea about pick-up, but I already got my order in. Can't wait.

MBP13 lost .04". That's a redesign.

Jony Ive = Genius.

Did you predict this? I seem to remember that you did.

I actually expected that Apple would offer both an iGPU and a dGPU option for the 15" version, but I wouldn't have guessed that the dGPU version also would get the 5200.

I am looking to upgrade my 2008 MacBook with the new model but am torn between the entry level 13" and the 15" model. I'll mainly be using it for photo editing and possible home videos (new baby), Internet etc. I would appreciate any advice, direction and help. Thanks!

Go to a store and check them out when they get them in. If you plan on doing graphic work I would think the bigger screen size would be better to work with. I had a 13 inch MacBook Pro before and liked it, but am not going back after I've owned a 15 inch. I know it's perfectly adequate to handle big tasks, but I just feel better equipped with more screen size.

15 inches really isn't too big after seeing some monolith 18 inch gaming laptops. It's a nice size to work with and to carry around.

So disappointed by the configurations for the 15 inch, what if I want everything at the base configuration with a dGPU? It's £2000+ here in the UK for the dGPU model, ridiculous. I guess I'll have to look for an alternative or wait for broadwell...most likely broadwell.

Think there will be a HUGE difference in the 2.3 processor and the 2.6? Wondering if its worth the extra 200 bucks:confused:

Depends what you plan to do. A lot of video editing? Then yes, it can save time by rendering long clips faster. Surfing the web, email and most basic apps - it won't make a damn bit of difference.

I also have a late 2008 13" MB and want to step up to a bigger 15" screen.

Yes!!! It's finally here!! But we should have had this laptop 4 months ago along with the new MacBook Air. Oh well.

I myself have a 15 inch early 2013 retina MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM and 512GB Flash Storage. I am going to sell it to upgrade to the new 13 inch model. I am going with the 13 inch because it has better battery life, is more portable, and is cheaper.

The 13 inch has more new stuff than the 15 inch in my mind. It's also nice to see that the 13 inch is slimmer.

I plan to buy the $1799 13 inch retina MacBook Pro.

I badly need some expert help, as I have been waiting for the MBP like all of you since over 8 months and now I am going crazy not knowing what I should order as I am not technically expert, so please please help me ASAP so I can place my order:

1. First, all what I do is Microsoft Office and extensive Internet browsing with 50 - 100 tabs open at the same time most of the times and several apps ale open. when I look at the 'Activity Monitor' in my current cMBP, I see that I am using my full RAM which is 4GB, then I also see something I do not understand called Virtual Memory, and I am using about 12GB of that. Now, does this mean that I should say that I am using 12GB and that I need to go for the 16GB, or should I only count the 4GB and go for the 8GB?

2. I guess you all probably agree from my usage that I do not need dGPU, or correct me if I am wrong? Now, I am willing to upgrade to the 2.3 processor anyway as it is not expensive, and if you advise me that the 16GB RAM will also be nice, then I am thinking that may be the ready higher model with these specs in addition to 512GB SSD would be a more cost-effective upgrade. The big question for me here, I know everyone here considers the dGPU as a bonus, but for me, I am really concerned about it eating power and throttling the CPU and also releasing more heat which I HATE?

You cannot imagine how much I will appreciate a thorough advice regarding that to help me place my order before shipping timeframes change?

Thanks a BUCNH!

I've ordered 13" 16GB but really don't know whether I made the right choice. Can someone tell me the real world advantages? I don't need a massive SSD as I have a 1TB external HDD and I have upgraded the CPU to 2.6GHz. I want to do university work (work, excel, powerpoint), iTunes, surf the web with many tabs, molecular drawing programs, simple photo editing eg holiday photos etc, watching/ streaming video onto an external display while I work on the laptop. I normally sell quite often so don't know if I have over paid for things I won;t see a return on...
Thanks, don't normally get buyers remorse like this!!

Anyone know is this will deliver sooner than Oct. 30th in Canada? I chose the mid-model instead of custom low model because I thought it would ship a bit faster since it doesn't have to be 'made for order'.

Hope the delivery estimate is wrong.

My estimate is the 29th here in the states, not sure how much of a difference it will make for Canada.

Thats what I wanted to hear! My primary usage is moderate, but definitely no video editing. I have an extensive iTunes library and with the MBP I have now, it just seems to drag a bit (that damn beach ball)!

Awesome. 13-inch with i7/8GB/256GB on my end.

Cool man!! We are a bunch of happy campers tonight (depending on location) arent we!! This goes to show, we dont have to see ANY SKU leaks or parts, etc for APple to roll out new MACs :)

I went with the 15"/2.3/16GB/512GB

Same here! I think this will be a fantastic laptop. Probably last me a good 5 years, if not more.

I think I'm happy Apple went with the 5200+750M route instead of the 4600+750M route. Now I can enjoy Iris Pro's awesome OpenCL performance, but for games, I can use the 750M.

First thing I'm doing when I get my laptop is download Bioshock Infinite. Have been wanting to play that game for ages! :D

If they say it ships today, why does it take 1 week to deliver?

I know! Not even available for store pickup. But I guess that gives me time to backup my old 2008 Macbook Pro and get all my projects finished so I get a good solid weekend to spend with the rMBP.

Still no idea what 15" option to get. I feel as if the higher end one would be overkill but I'm worried the lower end one would not be nearly good enough for the odd casual game (like F1 2013 etc).

Seems like a lot of people on here getting the 13" are getting the 2.4/8/256. Wonder if Apple will drop the 2.4/4/128 in February or if they'll at least give it 8gb RAM. Not that I care because I can't wait ;). I'm just a little worried that inventory will be low.

Because you can get like 1000 TB of storage for five cents in the form of external drives?

The SSD upgrade is still way overpriced. And ostensibly it's still a user-upgradeable component, so you can add more later if you really can't live with a "paltry" 512GB.

Really? How much is it and where? If it's $300 is that really worth it because I would wasting the 512 that came with the laptop. Oh well, I already ordered but could cancel.
