A big thank you to everyone here for information, fun and keeping each other company during the long wait. I learned a lot from you (more from some than from others) and I really will miss checking in every day to see what's up with haswell. So see you in other threads hopefully!

rMBPhere I come!

And in case they close up soon here: Good afternoon, good evening and good night...

Any recommendations for a cheaper 1tb external for this sucker? >$250

1TB external harddrives cost less than 100$. I've bought a 2TB harddrive for 100$ before. I recommend Seagate backupplus, it has NTFS drivers for the Mac, or you could format the drive to HFS+ Journaled. What country do you reside in? In the US, Amazon is selling a seagate 2TB expansion drive (external hard drive) for 79.99. http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expan...p?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382701919&sr=1-2
Seagate explains how to format the drive here:http://consumer.media.seagate.com/2...how-to-format-a-windows-disk-drive-for-a-mac/

I never buy "external" drives, but rather, external enclosures that you can then plug any cheaper "internal" HD into.

I'm a big fan of Icydock with USB 3.0

But internal harddrives with a terabyte of storage usually cost 60$+, and you can easily find an external harddrive that costs less than the combined total of the enclosure and internal HDD. I've looked into this before, and I even own one, but it's not worth it.

Alright guys, just got my rMBP finally! :D

I guess i'm not eligable to be here anymore, much thanks to the people in here delivering intresting posts over the past months! Next time ill catch you guys inside the broadwell thread :)

I installed iStat Menus an hour or so ago to check the temperatures of the 15" model, and way lower than what I expected them to be. At idle CPU temperature sat at 32ºC much lower than the 43ºC (with fans spinning at 1000RPM higher) I saw on my old late 2008 MacBook Pro under Mavericks (and lower than in Snow Leopard at 38ºC).

If you just need one HD and portability is important, I agree that a normal external would be better. The advantage of the enclosure is being able to flip multiple HDDs in and out of the same dock - I end up needing lots of storage for my photography business. Otherwise I would have to deal with multiple externals with wires flying all over the place. I've also personally had bad luck with reliability of external drives, and no problem with "internal" HDDs, but that's purely anecdotal.

But yeah, if he just needs 1TB of space, a small-footprint external seems like a good choice.

Before this gets archived or closed, I wanted to thank all of the regular posters over the past few months for the stimulating conversation and advice. You guys are awesome, and I hope to run into you guys again around here. I may pop into the Broadwell thread in 8-10 months just to see how you all are ;)

So far so good with my new rMBP. Everything is an improvement over my mid-2009, even if Chrome seems to be a battery suck. Hopefully Google fixes that soon.

Having sold my 13" air and using a 2013 11" Air for the past month and a half, I can say that I still love the 13". The screen is just eye balling, although I got base, I'm switching for 8/256 next week. I mainly wanted to see how I got on with it, and I'm pleasantly happy.

So has anyone actually ordered and received the Haswell rMBP 15" 2.3 or 2.6 without the dGPU? Does it even exist?

See, I'm trying to decide if I count as one of those regular posters. Maybe you should just stick with Safari.

Hehe im very well aware of it, have you got yours yet?

What? A haswell rmbp? Nope, I was never going to get this year's model, but I was interested in the progress the 13-inch would make this year, and I know someone who is interested in buying it.

Does chrome suck battery?

I love chrome :-(

Yeah, it does. It's too bad, Chrome is my go-to browser for desktop-laptop computers.

I guess someone didn't read my post last page:D.

Oh yeah, I enjoyed the ride too. It was fun, even if we had to wait so long. And while I considered myself to be fairly knowledgeable on Macs/technology, I learned a lot from this thread.
