Did you see the special (RED) Mac Pro going up for auction in November? It looks awesome, Apple should've made red a colour option for the new Mac Pro.

Yeah it looks really great! Especially when "undressed" where you can see the black hardware in contrast with the red chassis. If I were a millionaire, I'd take it!

It's a beautiful piece of machinery. Too bad I can't even attempt to afford it and definitely don't need the specs.

Yeah I had a Blackberry until January. VZW didn't have the iPhone quite yet when I got it, and my parents could get a rebate on the BB. My dad also had the original Motorola droid and ended up hating it. If they'd gotten me a decent android I might not have switched to iPhone. Still would probably be a Mac user though ;)

I was happy though that one of my Linux friends is quite impressed with OS X because of the unix system it's based on. She just doesn't like Apple hardware (prefers Lenovo to anything else).

Anybody else curious about the Mac Mini? It's the only desktop and one of two Macs to not be updated. I suppose a silent update this week or next is possible, but I wonder if they'll drop it from the lineup or treat it like the cMBP. I honestly don't know anyone who owns one. If someone asked me about buying a Mac desktop I'd tell them iMac.

BlackBerrys were not bad back then, but I can't really understand why anyone would buy them now. Lenovo? Why would someone prefer Lenovo hardware over Apple hardware? They aren't bad PCs, but they pale in comparison to Apple's hardware, in my opinion.

Yeah, did you see the starting price? 60 000$ Probably with the bidding, it could go up to the cost of a medium-sized house:eek:

It was the BlackBerry Storm 2 with their attempt at a touchscreen :p

My friend is a sys admin, and her company gives her a ThinkPad. She also started buying them before this job when her Alienware got stolen. I think it's the lack of upgradeability and the pretentiousness that can sometimes come with Apple buyers. Admittedly Lenovos and IBMs before them are great computers for their market (business and IT). But of course they're incredibly ugly and bulky and can't run OS X without hackintoshing :p

Ordered mine

Hi guys, I just ordered mine, i7 2.3 Ghz SSd 512 and GeForce 750m.
I wish you all the best with your machines, see ya on the waiting for... Thread in 2-3 years :)
This was my second big wait, I was on the waiting for Arrandale thread too, got mine 3 years ago and it still rocks under Mavericks ;)

Providing my "I got one" post, too.

15" 2.3 GHz/16GB RAM/512GB SSD. Samsung display.

A happy puppy here -- great speed (coming from a late '08 MPBP), and enough horsepower to run Windows 8.1 under Parallels 9 like it was a native Win 8.1 installation. Very happy :D

We'll see whether the Broadwell version is worth the upgrade next year, but it will take a LOT of improvement to get me to consider changing.

Now all I need is a 4K Thunderbolt display to be released (at a not-completely-insane price point)!

no m750? and do they still use LG display?

I just can't do it guys. See you with Broadwell or not at all. It's getting close to the only way to win is not to play levels here with Apple.

Why not get an iMac or a desktop Mac then? If you just want to use it at home it'd be much better value for money!

Because it's very difficult to use an iMac in a bed. I want freedom to move around my house.

The main reason why Apple stopped producing 17" MBPs was the cost (more than a year ago) of 17" Retina displays (due to poor yields). The yields have improved and costs have dropped. Whether or not costs have dropped enough to introduce a 17" rMBP is unclear. Apple will be aware that the lack of availability over the last year will have resulted in some pent-up demand in addition to the usual ongoing demand. If I were Apple, I would be thinking about introducing a 17" rMBP in February 2014, with features not found in the 15" model, such as a 32GB option and two PCIe SSD slots.

That makes sense.

Ok guys so I picked up my 15 inch retina MacBook Pro 2.3ghz 16gb ram on Thursday 24th October 2013, this is my first mac so day one was learning how to use it which I have done, now I want to install bootcamp windows 8.1 so far it's a failure, hmm I guess I'll try and install windows 7 lol. I like the mac so far and also could someone give me tips on what I should do as it's my first mac lol.

I remember being so excited for BlackBerry's first foray into the realm of touchscreen smartphones. I was a big BlackBerry supporter back then, only because they're a Canadian company. I also despised Apple then as well. The next year, I used a Mac running OS X for the first time. I became a big Apple supporter, my cousin gave me his old iPod touch 2nd Gen after he bought the iPhone 4 unlocked from Apple (which he subsequently lost). I got my iPad last year, after having to deal with an increasingly small library of apps supporting iOS 4.2.1, the version of iOS my iPod ran. Didn't Lenovo buy IBM's consumer computer business? I also heard they're trying to buy IBM's server business as well. I almost tried hackintoshing a PC, but I decided to wasn't worth the work I would out in and I didn't have enough disk space for it to be viable anyways.

Yeah my bf had BB pearls, a curve, and a bold until getting a 4S last year. The storm/storm2 was a flop though. Mine white screened trying to download their native news app :p

Lenovo did buy IBM's computer lines. I'm not sure if that's made any difference in the quality.

Personally I like Apple and OS X. I got my first iPod Shuffle in 2005 and haven't looked back.

I didn't post much in here but I checked this thread at least 20 times a day. I made my decision today when I saw a very good offer for a new 15" rMBP early 2013 for only 1600Euro (8g/265gb). The bigger screen and the dGPU sealed the deal for me.

A big thank you for the great readings and info ;)

Is that a picture of your Mac in the trunk of your car? LOL! Congratulations ;)

Sadly, I'm re-installing Windows on my Mom's laptop. Next I'll have to copy all the drivers back into their appropriate folders. Oh how I hate Windows.
