to conclude the reasons of rMBP delay:
1. Apple is waiting for TB2
2. Apple is waiting for Mavericks release
3. Apple is waiting for the elimination of LCD production issues.

what we gonna see in rMBP update:
1. TB2, obviously:p
2. Increased battery life
3. PCIe SSDs

did I miss something?

It would be great if we got the 512MB SSD as the base but I really don't think it's going to happen for this update.

At least we can upgrade the SSD though. So I'll get the 256GB for now and then upgrade later after the prices go down a bit.

Or they are simply waiting for Intel to release the HQ models?

Hey guys, as many of you I'm waiting for the new rMBP.
I've read the thread and I've seen many plausible explanations for the absence of a refresh for the MBP line but one.
Intel had a bug with a chipset, could they be waiting for the next batch of processors fixing it?

yes the dedicated GPU for 15"

The bug is not in the CPU. And they've shipped Air with Haswell, so I can't see any reason that this should be the reason for the wait :)

There was a report today saying that the Haswell ULT 28W with Iris 5100 starts shipping today from Intel. They also said that the first Ultrabook with these CPUs will arrive late summer.

So I think if these CPUs weren't actually available so far, it explains why no 13'' retina MBP was launched at WWDC. Probably we will see a retina refresh later in the summer. Perhaps they wanted to update the 15'' at the same time, and let all focus be on the MacBook Air for now.

Still don't think Mavericks is part of the equation. Apple has gone out of its way to have iPhone releases coincide with iOS releases but the same has not been true on the Mac side. Just last year the new rMPB was released with a special version of Lion just a little over a month before Mountain Lion was released.

If anything the MB Airs would have been held up for Mavericks because one of that line's main marketing features is battery life which will get even better in Mavericks. Apple doesn't highlight battery life as much on the MBP's. But I agree with your hardware list.

Sure, Mavericks is less important and the least obvious thing to consider in this case. Just included it to the list as a possibility.

Gotcha. Since I am just speculating too, for all I know it could be that Apple is waiting for Mavericks. I'm thinking (and hoping) the wait is actually for Thunderbolt 2 and an Apple retina cinema display that the new rMBP's can drive :D

yeah, my thoughts!:)

SemiAccurate posted a new article about the upcoming rMBP, but it requires a subscription. Maybe somebody here has one and can give us the gist of it?

http://semiaccurate.com/2013/06/25/whos-silicon-is-apple-using-in-the-next-macbook-pro/

if you're talking about silicon ( CPU ), its Intel.
makes me wonder whether semi-accurate just stealing old news from other website or they do have their own sources.

better just wait for apple rumors website for latest news.

Not sure if i read it wrong ..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt_(interface)

there's another Thunderbolt poised to be released this year called Redwood Ridge.
main feature: displayport 1.2

so...the only thing you need to drive a 4k display is the dp 1.2

they could just release the MBP and thunderbolt display without waiting for TB2?

Erm...

For me Apple want a Keynote for Pro ! This summer se Will see à keynote about an update of FCPx, Aperture and the MacBook Pro ! I don't think they are waiting for Mavericks ! Mavericks announced on the WWDC, it's done !

I think Apple prepare a Pro keynote....

Who follow me ;)

You make a valid and strong argument. Nobody hopes that you are right more than me. But you say it's a simple spec bump. It's more than that to me. It'll be a true 2nd generation for one. That's very important to me as I have a policy of never buying 1st generation Apple products. I didn't buy the first iPhone or iPad, and for good reason. I've been waiting a year for this and god knows what kind of tweak there will be. There is Haswell, of course, the Wifi, the SSD, possible Thunderbolt 2 etc. plus I'm hoping for a 512 SSD base. For me this is all a big deal.

Haswell/WiFi/750m are basically a given. However, Thunderbolt 2 is still nearly half a year off, so I don't think the next rMBP refresh will have it (they could add it in a February refresh). 512 GB base SSD is too expensive to happen, instead it'll probably be faster (same as the Air). I also think the fact that current rMBPs are first-gen means Apple probably won't delay the refresh too long. I don't think they'll wait for Mavericks either because the new OS doesn't any critical new features. In any case, I'm convinced that a refresh will happen in July, and chances are good it'll happen in the next 3 weeks.

Well it looks like we wont have any BTS promo and that most likely that we will see new macbooks from september/october for many reasons

I dont think a new gen of MBP will be silent updated, as probably they will announce it in the same event when they gonna announce the new Mac Pro :(

As for features of new rMBP will be:
- Haswell CPU
- TB2
- Faster SSD
- new AC wifi
- New dGPU ( for 15 inch )
- Faster GPU for 13 inch rMBP
- Remove the 15" CMBP and probably add a cheaper option of rMBP without dGPU in favour of battery life for people who don't use heavy GPU tasks :)

although i wish that Apple updates its MBP in july/august but chances are slim :(
