Well it looks like we wont have any BTS promo and that most likely that we will see new macbooks from september/october for many reasons

I dont think a new gen of MBP will be silent updated, as probably they will announce it in the same event when they gonna announce the new Mac Pro :(

As for features of new rMBP will be:
- Haswell CPU
- TB2
- Faster SSD
- new AC wifi
- New dGPU ( for 15 inch )
- Faster GPU for 13 inch rMBP
- Remove the 15" CMBP and probably add a cheaper option of rMBP without dGPU in favour of battery life for people who don't use heavy GPU tasks :)

although i wish that Apple updates its MBP in july/august but chances are slim :(

How did you come to that conclusion? Many people here are doing the guess-work that new rMBPs will come out in July with the BTS promo.

I think that makes the most sense, anyhow.

My feeling is it's going to be the exact opposite. The BTS promotion will be used to flush existing inventory.

Apple normally waits to intro new models until after BTS.

Well its a new gen of rMBP so there is no way they gonna update it silently in july or august and if they even do the update of rMBP in july/august which chances are slim, and if the Apple releases in July/August then they will make some kind of event for new macbook pros which IMHO doesn't make any sense to have a special event for the new rMBP as we had WWDC few days ago and we seen nothing for rMBP and that in september/october we have a event for new Mac Pro, iOS, iDevices and new OS X. So its logical that Apple releases new Macbook Pros in same Event when they gonna present new OS X :)

And also in that time we will see TB2 and since TB2 have the DP 1.2 which makes a worthy upgrade from current gen of rMBP.

While we are guessing I think this will happen :

July/August : no updates ; cleaning out existing inventory

September : Iphone 5S media event with MBP and rMBP updates

October : Ipad 5/Ipad Mini 2 media event with Mac Pro specs/dates/prices and updates for Mac Mini and Imac.

So nothing new for BTS promotion I think but we will see what happens :D

Didn't someone run a performance test with the new haswell rMBP 13"...is there more details around what that system configuration consisted of?

there are any chances for better pixel density for thunderbolt displays and eventually for imacs this late year to work with that beautiful mac pro ?

I also doubt we will have a timed release with the BTS promo.
Seems more likely that they will try to clear out the stock during the BTS promo instead of introducing a new rMBP.
So unfortunately it feels like we are gonna have to wait until sep-oct :(

Of course there is a way they could do it silently. They did it in early 2011, and that was a huge jump in terms of processor (from Core 2 Duo to Core i7), IGPU (went from crappy GMA to good HD series), brought Thunderbolt, and SATA 3. No fanfare (outside of this forum), just a big shipment to stores and an update on the web store.

It would take a really, really big jump in the rMBP for me to be so convinced that there *can't* be a silent release. Mind you, that's not to say that it *will* be a silent release, I think either is possible. Battery life, spec bump, none of those necessitate it. If they have it ready to go before their next event, I think they'll do it silently.

Also, I'm surprised at the number of people who think the dGPU is going anywhere in the next iteration of the rMBP. Apple already has the current 15" designed with a dGPU, so unless there is a significant redesign (unlikely, but possible of course), I see no reason to think it's going anywhere. I, likewise, think it's very unlikely that they'll choose to use the 4600 graphics in the 15" instead of the 5200. Apple tends to choose the best chip that they can at the TDP, just like in 2011 everyone was convinced we were getting the dual core chips and wouldn't you know, Apple gave us the better quad cores!

Personally, I'm banking on the 13" rMBP having the 5100 graphics, and that's the way I'm likely going to go.

I can see the argument go both ways, on the subject of a July release or not. None of us really knows what Apple will do, though.

I thought Thunderbolt 2 was not going to be released for a while? And a 512 SSD for the base model is not going to happen. I can see 256 base though.

I know. But a guy can dream, can't he? So if not then ill have to she'll out the $300 for the 512. 256 is unacceptable.

About the Thunderbolt 2...Who knows?

I completely agree. The only thing I have to add is that if it were a huge internal redesign then it would have probably been showcased at WWDC, similar to the Mac Pro. Either way it's way too early for any redesign, and as you said, they will silently upgrade if they have it ready to go before another event. And I think they will.

to conclude the reasons of rMBP delay:
1. Apple is waiting for TB2
2. Apple is waiting for Mavericks release
3. Apple is waiting for the elimination of LCD production issues.

what we gonna see in rMBP update:
1. TB2, obviously:p
2. Increased battery life
3. PCIe SSDs

did I miss something?

Yes. Wifi 801.11ac

Lets kill the messenger:mad:

There is zero chance the new rMBP's come out in July/August, if they have TB2. If they do, September/October at the earliest.

When Intel says late 2013 for TB2, they mean it.

Not necessarily. Apple had access to TB1 many months before anyone else did.

'Many months before' still lines up with September/October - as Intel said, late (November/December) 2013. Can anyone remember the last time Intel released a product before its ETA? Both Haswell and Ivy Bridge launches were delayed by months.

Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if it slips to early November, production ready silicon for a transition like this is a huge stress on yield rates.

How did you come to that conclusion? Many people here are doing the guess-work that new rMBPs will come out in July with the BTS promo.

I think that makes the most sense, anyhow.

A genius bar folk told me extra-officially that there will likely be a silent refresh of rMBP line this summer. This would mean only CPU,GPU,WiFi, and PCIe flash bumps. No TB2, IGZO...

Yeah well, a Genius Bar folk once told me extra-officially that they would be out last March. Take anything they say with two grains of salt

Totally speculative...BUT...again this would make the most sense to me...

The rMBP style is slight over a year old, I dont think it would be up for revision. Look at how long the cMBP models have carried the same style. Unless Apple is going a a totally new direction, I see a silent refresh for the rMBP....I am clueless as to why the cMBPs have not been touched

Genius bar workers are not told anything confidential. They would be the first to leak information about... well... anything they were told. Apple knows this and keeps their retail workers as in the dark as the public.
