For me it seems that one of the biggest insights we can get about the Haswell rMBp is from the lack of BTS announcement.

There are two options for the lack of announcement
1. Apple is discontinuing its BTS promotion
2. Apple will announce its BTS promotion later than normal (reasoning?) before school starts in September

First of all, option 1 is possible but certainly seems unlikely to me as it would significantly hurt summer Mac sales thereby crippling of their biggest sources of sales in the entire year. Also other competitors have similar promotions.

Now if we assume that option 2 is correct, then Apple had to have a reason to NOT announce the BTS promotion earlier as they consistently have announced it in early June for years.

So if the BTS promotion is coming, why the wait?

The most likely scenario seems to be that Apple is waiting for the Haswell rMBP to arrive BEFORE school starts (September) to announce its familiar BTS promotion.

So assuming that Apple will announce a BTS promotion, if Apple is not delaying the BTS to coincide with the Haswell rMBP then what else could Apple be delaying for?

Maybe to spread the sales of the MBA so supply doesnt fall short?

Tim Cook somewhere told to the public that incredible products are coming late this year and Q1 2014...remember where said that or some link plz?
Thank you

Now that its almost July, it doesn't seem like that long. Im more anxious than anything ;)

Actually, I was referring to the wait from February until now. I went ahead and sprung for a current rMBP given that the latest refresh was "only" 4 months ago. Don't get me wrong, I'll not be pleased with my decision if new rMBPs are released next month, but that just seemed less likely to me the more I thought about it.

you're taking unnecessary risk by not waiting then.

There's no way the rMBP is going to be delayed to late 2013/2014, he was probably talking about the Mac Pro. I'm fairly certain the refresh will happen within the next two weeks.

I agree, late 2013 into 2014 sounds waaaayyy out there. Hopefully we will see them in Q3 sometime

Got tired of waiting so I jumped on a mint condition 15" rMBP Ultimate for 2000 with Applecare.

It'll only wind up costing me $200 so I doubt I'll regret it.

I honestly would be super surprised (and a bit disappointed tbh) if the rMBP gets out soon and we only have a Haswell, SSD, AC update.
It feels like if they are gonna wait until Sep-Oct, the only way they would excuse that is by having bigger upgrades then then what the Air got.

So while i would love a update the next few weeks. I probably would like it even more if there where some bigger upgrades like 4K display and IGZO and maybe TB2, but i still find that unlikely since Intel have said end of 2013 for TB2.

But we could also see just the Haswell upgrade this time around, and get bigger upgrades next year with TB2 and such.

Its just really hard to tell right now. At least i hope for more upgrades then what the Air got. And if the rMBP gets it i can wait until Sep-Oct, even if the waiting is agonizing. :)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I highly, highly doubt 4K in the next rMBP release.

people can always dream ...

Yes, dream and then be all like "awww man, this update sucks, Apple should listen to us, bla bla ...". People always get their hopes and expectations up so high that they are disappointed once the real specs are revealed.

If the leaked benchmarks are any indication of what we're getting, then all the dreamers should be very angry at Apple. :)

I'm on a mid 2010 13" MBP waiting for the new 13" Retina and I'm actually expecting something like the new Air with a better CPU+iGPU and more RAM.

Do you see TB2 coming with Haswell or not?
Because i was waiting for it next year with Broadwell but this one seems to be shifted to 2015.

Will TB2 just for the 2014 (i don't see the bunny to be released outside before Xmas..) ^^ Mac Pro?

Yes for Ivybridge-E, I think we might see it in Haswell 2 which is a refresh that's scheduled next year. I don't think we will see it this year.

Yeah i doubt that very much also
But with the market moving to the same resolution that we already have in rMBP.
And with mac pro coming and a high res display do match it.
I don't think its an impossibility.

its impossible.
do you realize how long it takes to reach WXGA from VGA in the mainstream market?

the current Retina display market is still niche, and you're expecting a 4k in laptop?

keep filling the pipe with those dreams.

I think it's the other way around. You may be wasting time unnecessarily by waiting.

Because we have no concrete proof that a rMBP or Haswell refresh will come in July.

Also note: if it was going to be a major update, Apple would hold an event for it. And if Apple was holding an event in July, we should at least hear about it now.

an event will be in august or they will wait for october to refresh all the iPads and Macs. So retina macbook pro haswell will be in august or october
