i vote for october as well. Same reason as above. The usual 9 month cycle.

In that evemt they could introduce the
macpro
macbook pro
mac mini
imacs
iwork 2014 (as already promised on stage)
ilife 2014
updated fcpx (as already promised on stage)
and i hope for
aperture 4

and LOGIC X ^^ please^^!!!!

Where did people say there was going to be a redesign? The only thing I've read is that the 13" inch will be slimmer which will most likely match the thinness of the 15". It makes nonsense for them to announce them in October, I would imagine they could silent update them but they won't have two events. They will not announce a whole collection of new mac products at an iPad event, maybe a one or two but they wouldn't announce a refresh to 3/4 of their products.

If there was a redesign I would guess that they would've worked in in for WWDC. The following events will happen like this IMO:

July-August: (silent) MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Mini.
September: iPhone and the cheaper iPhone with iOS 7.
October: iPad, iPad Mini, OS Mavericks, Mac Pro.

Now I'm not saying I might not release in October but September would be unlikely since it would steal the spotlight from the iPhone, and I hardly doubt they would announce new mac products at the same day.

mmm...
I don't see any August event.
I see ..mumble mumble..^^
Late September Ios 7 :Ipad mini 2,Ipad 5,Iphone 5s (or 6 ),Cheaper Iphone (5s or 5c?^^)
Late October Osx and Macs : Mac Mini,Mac Pro,MacBook Pro,Imac Spec bump

Nope the July-August products I posted would be silent, no event. Also don't think they would announce that many iOS products in one day. Typically I think that they will show the finished version of iOS 7 and then announce the new iPhone products. (e.g last year they had a separate event for iPads)

Not saying it can't happen but it takes spotlight off the main product. An event focused around the iPhone and iPad seems more plausible.

i find their release schedule ridiculously stupid, why cram everything into second half of the year almost every time?

we only have February spec bump ( i wouldn't even call this a release ) and WWDC in the first half, then whole mac lineups, iphone and ipad in second half.

They are not going to release haswell rMBP's until thunderbolt 2 is available (IMO). The release schedules are dictated more by when certain technologies become available in quantity than they are by marketing.

This is the year when 4K is ramping up. If 4K content is ever going to be delivered at a reasonable price over the next gen TV's than the overall pro market needs everyday machines that can handle such a thing. This means portable pro machines that can handle 4K over two screens, which is why I believe we will also see a new thunderbolt display that can handle 4K. The new MBP's will have to be able to drive both.

Anyway, it is this conviction that is allowing me to hold off from buying a refurb. I want to do stop motion photog in 4K. Then I can convince my wife that we need a 4K TV in the living room. It's a grand plan.

So ...even with different chipsets i know...next MacBook Pro will sort out with 2013/14 New Cylinder Mac Pro?

It is likely that the next rMBP gets thunderbolt 2 and 4K if they want it to be on the edge of technology. So my bet the new rMBP will not be released until late this year or even March next year.

Sorry, there is no way Apple isn't going to do something until March of next year.

I also doubt 4k displays in the next update. They will come but not this early.

If the MP can ship with TB2 then I'm sure that MBPr will get it as well.

To the poster that wonder why so many new products arrive in the fall: BTS, Christmas.

I assumed that the thinner body implied a redesign. I wouldn't want to get the job of "just fitting everything from the older, thicker body into this thinner one". Apple usually doesn't just quickly make laptops thinner: for every format, the design is carefully made with the components in mind. Of course, if they'd be switching to very different components like an Igzo screen, it would also mean a redesign is needed. But not for just going Haswell (as the MBAs prove).

I think the standard MBP is not going to be updated ... if it is, they sure won't put an SSD in there because that would cannibalise MBPr sales.
The only difference between the retina and standard would be the size and screen, so the upgradability of the standard MBP would give it advantage - I know I'd buy a MBP over the MBPr anytime if it came standard with a 256 GB SSD (I know you can pay extra for it, but who wants to pay for the standard 750 GB drive and an extra $300 for the 256 GB SSD). BTW, why isn't there an option for 16 GB of RAM on the standard MBP?! So yeah, Apple really doesn't give me much choice - premium priced Retina it is.

Size, screen and $1000. I'm going to have to wait till the fall.

Yes I'm one of those that doubt TB2 or IGZO screens will be included this year. In my opinion the reports that claim that the case is slimmer is because the better battery performance that Haswell will allow. That is also why we have not heard anything about the 15" being slimmed or redesigned. Doesn't seem likely that they'll make major revisions to the machines until Broadwell which is pencilled in at 2015, I doubt Haswell V2 will bring a (maybe) slight redesign. Therefore I think the reason why the 13" RMBP was slightly thicker was because of the battery performance.

Has this been broached yet?

It looks like all processors with Iris5200 (i.e. http://ark.intel.com/products/76087) are scheduled to be released in 3Q, and I think this may be a strong reason for the delay.

I'm sure if the processors were available, Apple would have at least upgraded CPU and SSD type to boost the sale, and update again once TB2 or IGZO are available (updating multiple times in a year is not unheard of for apple).

The link says Q3'13, but status is launched? Is there another status of shipping?

Oh yes. Hell YES! (sorry for the language)

I think Aperture needs a major update now to stay on top of its game with Lightroom. Lightroom has gone through 2 major versions (4 and 5) and Aperture is still staying in one place.

I also think that Apple won't wait until October to release the Haswell MBPs. They announced Haswell MBA in June and if they wait for October to release MBPs, they are losing 4 months of Haswell laptop sales to competitors ... won't look good on their reports.

:(

Their reports will still look good because there is no other laptop on the market that can come even remotely close to the screen and quality of the rMBP lineup.

I mean... please prove me wrong by showing any competitor's laptop that has a 2560 x 1600 13" panel or a 2880 x 1800 15" panel on an enclosure as thin and as capable as the rMBPs.

The only thing I can find that comes close right now is the Chromebook Pixel, which... actually costs about the same as a 13" rMBP, and with far inferior specs.

And I can't find anything else on the market right now (or in the immediate future period leading to October) that can even hope to compete with the rMBP 15" either in price or in performance in a similar enclosure. Haswell or otherwise.

So, with the news of the imminent start of the BTS sale does this further suggest a September/October release for the rMBP?

I highly doubt we would see a silent refresh by tomorrow.

BTS has been delayed by almost a month more than usual, we still don't know the reason. That said, if we don't see it with BTS, then it's probably been pushed back at least to August...

Perhaps the fact that iPhones are included in the sale has at least something to do with the later date. If they are trying to deplete old stock they couldn't start too soon or they might be left in a lurch of short supply in between the sale and release of the 5S.

At least we can put some of this speculation to rest with BTS coming. That said, how many of us can wait until the fall? Ugh.

I suppose Apple could still do the refresh later in July, but that seems unlikely.

The new MacBook Pro with Retina display will be available this fall.

Haswell, Thunderbolt 2, PCI-E SSDs, W8 Native EFI, Improved Display, Better Battery Life, Better Integrated and Dedicated GPUs all coming this fall.

This upgrade will be the one to wait for. :D

Anyways, I noticed this in the screenshot of some guy testing 10.9 DP

3360x2100 A possible resolution upgrade to the rMBP 15.
