So I've been thinking about June's inevitable announcements of some form of update to Apple's laptop lineup; Pro and Air. But I've also heard whispers of Apple ditching the none-Retina MacBooks and making the rMBP cheaper as a consequence. How much ground does this have? Could we see cheaper rMBPs in June?

I don't think they will axe them yet. Although the west has high broadband penetration with good enough speeds to support streaming of Videos, Music and the downloading of Software the fastest growing segments of Apples business are foreign markets, developing nations that don't have as good internet infrastructure as we have.

For this reason the 13" MacBook Pro non-Retina with its Optical Drive is something that will continue to sell well in those markets. They need optical to get their movies, music and apps.

So I don't think that Apple will axe at a minimum the 13" MacBook Pro. But ya know it is just my opinion. I've been wrong before!

Sry to say but the macbook pro 13" will no longer exist in app store starting with the second generation retina, because the price of rmbp 13 droped at the same level with the non retina. So anyone who will need a macbook and an optical drive will buy as an accessories

Amazingly not visible to anyone with non-superhuman vision.

No, I mean native in the same way the current 15" rMBP is.

The current rMBP is 1440x900 at it's optimum resolution but of course the display is 2880x1800.

A native high-res 15" rMBP would have an optimum resolution of 1680x1050 but the display would be 3360x2100.

It would be amazing.

here is the current line up of haswell that we have so far:

Intel GT3 Graphics HD 5200/5100/5000:
Core i7-4950HQ (5200, GT3)
Core i7-4850HQ (5200, GT3)
Core i7-4702HQ (unknown, GT3)
Core i7-4650U (5000, GT3)
Core i7-4558U (5100, GT3)
Core i7-4550U (5000, GT3)
Core i5-4350U (5000, GT3)
Core i5-4258U (5100, GT3)
Core i5-4288U (5100, GT3)
Core i5-4250U (5000, GT3)
Core i3-4158U (5100, GT3)

Intel GT2 Graphics HD 4600/4400/4200:
Core i7-4930MX (4600, GT2)
Core i7-4900MQ (4600, GT2)
Core i7-4702MQ (unknown, unknown)
Core i7-4800MQ (4600, GT2)
Core i7-4500U (4400 GT2)
Core i5-4200U (4400, GT2)
Core i5-4200Y (4400, GT2)
Core i3-4100U (4400, GT2)
Core i3-4010U (4400, GT2)
Core i3-4005U (4400, GT2)

U stands for ultra low voltage (17w) or Low Voltage (28w)
Y stands for ultra super duper low voltage (varies, around 13w is the one advert)
MQ mobile quad (47w and in the possible case of the 4702MQ/HQ being 37w)
HQ mobile quad with the GT3 core and BGA socket (47w)
MX mobile quad extreme edition (57w)

and we now have 21

I wonder if Apple will continue their tiered laptop model. In other words, if you want the best CPU, or possibly one with GT3, you have to pick the high end model, paying for a lot of other stuff as well. I am sure they will...

make that 22

and Im betting that there will be i7 4750HQ, it just makes sense

Looks like everything is coming together before the 10th of June :D

gah! i forgot the i7 4700HQ, so 23 cpus

and when we count the usual 1 per block of tdp OEM cpus we are going to have at least 5 more cpus, its a very very large launch

so what is the low end integrated graphic card that apple will put probably in the macbook air 11" ? and what will be for the 15" retina macbook pro?
I hope that will not change 650M with 650M because i heard it can be a lit bit slower

15" rMBP will likly have 750M, a rebrand of the 650M that is 10-15% faster. Low end integrated for the 11" might be the 4600. 13" Air might have 5000, 13" rMBP maybe will have Iris Pro (5200). No one knows, but I would be on the best iGPU for the rMBP 13", since it is technically Apple's "Pro" machine without many pro qualities (no quad core, discrete GPU).

at core speed a little bit faster but at the memory and display lower...

----------

so i think apple let 650m and make better graphic drivers..here will be more than 13%
