Very possible the Next rMBP not only to have Haswell, but 3200x1800 resolution IGZO panel, and redesigned body w/o HDMI port, and instead one extra USB and one extra Thunderbolt port or an FW800 port (both in place the HDMI port).

Reason: Early this year a rumour about sligth body redesing for haswell rMBP, second Haswell chipset production starts in June matching the IGZO production start, finally haswell support 4 USB3 instead 3 ports supported by ivi bridge, as 4 Thunderbolt port, Also Apple:apple: return to support FW800 is very likely coz was keept on the new iMacs and mac minis.

Availability: Late Q3/Early Q4 :D

FireWire 800 is too thick for the rMBP body. I don't think Apple would make its flagship computer thicker to accomodate a port they are systematically getting rid of from its lineup (MBA and rMBP).

if i have to choose between the change from 650m to 750m and stick with 650m but with better graphic drivers i choose hands down the second. Come on is 2013 apple, make this happen because the shhiit windows can

I don't believe Apple not to update the gpu, despite few *analisys*, the fact is that the ddr3 gf 750m is much faster than the ddr5 650m, btw Apple could get an tuned 750M as was the 650m, but I bet for an switch to latest Ati M also a bit faster than 750m

depends on the cooling and that is the fact. The base clocks are actually slower this time around, and I dont think there will be a DDR3 version of the 750m.

and how the temps affect the performance? the core clock is slower at base, however nvidia created an abomination called gpu boost 2.0, which only serves the purpose of giving oems good stickers and giving us even more trouble to unlock the gpu potentials. Its a cripple system based on heat, do you have good thermal headroom, fine i can give you the entire turbo, dont? i will give something. is that dell xps 15? i will give you nothing and dont complain or I will throttle myself as well.

thats how it works. It can provide you with more performance, or it can give you nothing and leave the 650m specially the high clocked one in the rmbp in the lead. if you have a titan, you will damn well know what Im talking about

Basically the problem is not the card, its gpu boost 2.0

One blog site said we won't see new rMBPs at WWDC but we will see new Airs and standard MBPs. How likely is this?

I'm looking to buy a new rMBP. I'm just waiting for the new line with Haswell processors. The problem is, when will they be deliverable? I live in Belgium and some family in Canada can order one for me since it's over 600€ cheaper for me to just pay them back. But we will be there at August the 5th. Count 1-2 weeks delivery time...then the last moment I can order one is at about 20th of July.

I'm wondering the new rMBP will be out then. Can anyone (not guarantee) speculate they will be out by then or is this just a wild dream?

If they will update the macbook line up in June 10th you can buy them not late than july

Sorry, my English ain't perfect, can I conclude out of your comment I can order them in my time range when they come out?

no one knows for sure. but you should be more concerned about how are you going to pay it. they usually dont accept CC from other countries. So configurable models are going to be though to find. it leaves in store purchases.

Greetings!
Newbie here, been following this topic intensively the last couple months, as well as lurking this thread since its inception. I am looking to purchase a Haswell rMBP 15" once available, so the area of discussion is of great interest to me.

The general speculation in regards to 15" rMBP are:
  • CPU bump to Haswell
  • GPU bump to Nvidia 750m

Just wondering what the communities thoughts are on a SSD bump? It would seem possible due to the constant decrease in price. Or is it just not in enough demand due to the popularity of External HD and TC in today's market.

Also, I know it has been brought up, but what do you think about the recent MBA news? Perhaps an earlier MBA release than rMBP? Doesn't seem likely to me.

Nbapapa,

They should accept it if I pay with Visa, right?

Nbapapa,

Welcome to MacRumors!

I really can't put my finger on what will happen with the SSD's I want to say the capacities will stay the same but I'm not certain.

I do think however that Apple will include 802.11ac networking. I mention this just because it's not CPU or GPU related.

You will have haswell cpu, maybe a gpu change but not so much differences for a mac in performance thanks to apple video drivers(but who knows what the future will be), yes wifi ac, better life battery (if the design will not change),and like in apple style the line up who gets only upgrades and not a design or something revolutionary the price for retina macbook 13 and 15 will drop with 100$

not really, the company of the card doesnt really matter, the country of origin of it matters and wether or not they accept.
As far as I tried, I can fill in everything inclusing my Visa card number and press the "Place Order" button (which I haven't done yet). So it should be all right I think. Just waiting and hoping the new rMBP are there in time ^^

I would prefer to have my new rmbp by June or July. I'm a bit worried at the lack of rumors and leaks this late in May. If the new macs were indeed coming to WWDC in June wouldn't we have heard more about it already?

Welcome to MacRumors!

Thanks! :)

Interesting speculation! I also believe this to be likely, as a similar case happened in 2008 when Apple released products 802.11n ready, which eventually was signed off in late 2009. Similarly, 802.11ac is expected to be published in 2014, which leads me to suspect this pattern may repeat. To add, Apple always needs too makes its products a 'year advanced' due to their lengthy release cycle as opposed to competitors.
Not that 802.11ac will affect me greatly, but it may be a game changer in regards to purchasing a Time Capsule to compliment my Mac. May as well wait for the expected 5th gen release with 802.11ac networking. Perhaps it may even be released around the same time!

Take advantage of the tools you are given!

Very good point, and the quote from Tim Cook about no new products until later 2013 and throughout 2014 kind of backs this up.

Although consider the following:
  • It is only a spec bump, there were hardly any rumors for the February spec bump and price drop
  • The market for Haswell will be huge, Apple would want to get in it ASAP
  • There has never been a Keynote which featured Software only

They are the main reasons. I suspect you'll see the new Haswell rMBP showcased at WWDC with availability no longer than a month from Keynote, perhaps even on the day.

It's going to be a minor spec bump. There usually aren't any rumors for those.

We already know that there will be not any design changes, the cpu and gpu we all know, the flash storage will be the same so we know pretty much in May

Thanks! :)

Nbapapa,

I'm really hoping they include 802.11ac because I picked up an Asus 802.11ac router late last year and I'm all set. I already use Time Machine over WiFi and it would work a lot faster over ac.

And obviously I'm picking up a new rMBP when they release em.
