After watching the Microsoft keynote today I can't help but expect another Apple disappointment tomorrow.

I bet we'll end up with a 13" MBP with the same resolution, same 8 GB of RAM, no dGPU, probably starting at 256 GB and $1499. It will feature just the weakest Skylake 28V CPUs available anywhere on the planet and drop all connectivity standards currently in existence, thereby requiring users to buy another 5 to 10 new cables and adapters or a fancy new dock that will retail for just $249. Of course, the MBP will be solely available in that stupid silver color nobody can stand any longer and the only interface improvement will be a trackpad gaining 6mm in width. Oh, and they'll raise prices for Europe of course. But hey, I'm sure we'll get some Snapchat-style flower crown and doggy filters in Facetime!

Prove me wrong guys, please prove me wrong!

:D

This is how I feel about it. After that MS event today, I get the feeling its going to be seriously underwhelming.

Flower crown? It is long gone with the death of iChat. Major feature in Mac OS X Leopard, generally considered the last great advancement to Mac OS X in terms of desktop experience. Heck, I remember Steve and Phil promoting this on WWDC 2007.

Or you can just forget about all these and buy a $2999 Surface studio with GTX 965M and i5.

Relax, take a glass of vodka and wait for tomorrow what Apple will show. First the facts than the pitchforks and screaming.

Don't go into tomorrow saying its your last MBP, see what Apple has to offer, and if you are indeed wanting to leave the platform, then put your money on a computer maker that better fits your wants and needs

When will this thread be closed? And where should we all go after the event? Ordered/bought/got thread? It's a great community in here and I want to be able to connect with everyone on the other side.

Thanks for dealing with our antics.

This just in, Macbook pro launch delayed and tomorrow's event will only be covering new watch bands, mario bro for iwatch, Tim's gay preferences only !!!!

We have similar expectations, except I'd be quite happy with (mostly) the base model 13" you've described. The 28w i5 and the Iris 550 they'll be using will have almost the same GPU power as the $1900 surface book, and the CPU will be faster. Faster PCI-E flash and Thunderbolt 3, along with the new old function bar, plus whatever other features haven't leaked yet. This thing is going to crush the mid-range surface book.

I've got a friend who is a well known artist he regularly contributes illustration for the New Yorker and Wired amongst others, he's been using Macs his whole career. I was speaking to him tonight he says he is seriously considering the MS Studio.

I am a cheapskate and consider getting the MS Studio.

Whoops, well that didn't last long - mods sent thread to "wasteland" within about 10 minutes.
Yeah the mods sent the PTSD one to the wasteland too, they need to warn a brotha'!

What the hell. OK, so it's two in the morning here in France and I can't sleep.

I was listening to relaxing music when suddenly the formerly pitch-black opposite end of my room was bathed in a crisp, white light. Confused, I looked at the spotlight on the ceiling and remembered I had left my 2010 MacBook Air right under it. Indeed, I got up from bed and confirmed that the light source was the Apple logo.

What were you trying to tell me, dear life companion? Were you saying goodbye? Are you jealous of the future? Or did you want me to understand that I'll be stuck with you for longer than I thought?

In all seriousness, has this ever happened to any of you? The lid had been perfectly closed for at least two hours. The whole thing felt more spiritual than you'd think...

Oh, and it turned itself off without me doing anything after about 20 seconds.

Guys, is it currently possible to place an order online and pick up the device at the Apple store? And do y'all think they will stock them in store for tomorrow ?

None of us appear to be insiders, unfortunately.

There have been times where their computers were available immediately, and times where they weren't available for weeks/months. It's hard to predict. You should be able to order for pickup at an Apple Store once they're available.

I'd say that since we haven't seen any box/fully assembled photos, the chance of them being available tomorrow is very slim. Unfortunate for me because I have to mail my current MBP out tomorrow.

Yah, my rMBP mid 2012 does that sometimes too. I have to open the lid and close it again to get it to stop. It is a very rare occurrence though.

That's how long it's been since the last refresh. I had no idea I'd be entering into the longest refresh period in recent MBP history when I started waiting for my first Mac. Of course, this laptop has been sought after by many here since this thread was created exactly three years ago. I posted in this thread for the first time on page 28 on July 31, 2015, my fourth post as a MacRumors member. I wasn't even a big Apple fan back then; this thread made me an Apple fan. Apple events are now something I look forward to as much as a holiday or my birthday.

I've learned so much about processors, SSDs, RAM, GPUs, all through this thread. I had no idea who Gurman or Gruber were or why the Christian Times were no good. I had no idea what integrated graphics or Thunderbolt 3 were and I had no idea what Skylake even meant. Everyone here has been so helpful and supportive and this thread has truly been one of the most unique events I've been a part of. I haven't felt a sense of community like this in a long time and I haven't had this much fun online in a long time. Thanks to the mods for allowing all of the stupid dank memes that I've posted. I'm still proud of my crappy mock-ups that I had to make in Word because I was at work.

It might seem stupid that we've all been so obsessed over a piece of metal. I don't exactly know what made this thread so enticing that I felt the need to check it thirty times a day and scour the web for any trace of a rumor. I've felt very connected to the heart of Apple over the past year and a half, especially after reading both Steve Jobs biographies and the Jony Ive one. And I think the MBP is a huge testament to the power and heart of Apple. This'll be my first Mac and my second Apple product other than my iPhone and I couldn't be more excited to replace this 2010 Dell XPS.

Just remember to go into tomorrow with an open mind. We have high expectations and in a lot of ways Apple will meet those expectations. But it won't be the perfect machine and will take some getting used to. Stay positive.

So no matter what you use the laptop for, don't use it for work. Work is for those who aren't in love with what they do. Use it to change the world. Here's one more for the history books:
