Really. I'm looking at the Canadian store right now....anyway, it's a silly complaint. I'm just eager for new models to come out so I can update.

Damn no price drop for anything except the iPad and apple pencil :( they were quick enough to increase the prices across the board at their first event post devaluation!

Beat me to it, another event and they again ignored the chance to fix the exchange rates. Now we’ll have to wait until WWDC to see if the actually fix the pricing for all Macs.

Still won’t hold my breath on that though.

It's under the buy option, when it shows you the MacBook Pro models available.

I stand by my previous comment that this was a silly complaint--a non-issue--driven by my disappointment that there's no new MacBook (Pro or otherwise) model available!
It still shows that for the US page as well unfortunately, same for the regular Macbook. It's unfortunate, but it's looking more and more like new ones will be announced at WWDC. Intel hasn't even unveiled any suitable CPUs that Apple uses with the Iris/Iris Pro graphics yet.

The funny (well, I say funny! :D) thing is they dropped the price of the mini 4 slightly, but as far as I can tell didn’t adjust the pros!

No. There is no fixed date.

For third and fourth gen MBP, there does seem to be a pattern though. Early in the year (Feb or March) or summer (June-July), or Oct-Nov. Only one release fell outside that pattern, in May 2015. So since there was no Feb-Mar update, the next opportunity is very likely to be June-July. If nothing happens then, we’ll probably wait until Oct-Nov.

You’re reading way too much into a couple years’ worth of releases.

No. As you said yourself, the 2015 came out in May. Furthermore, the 2014 came out in July, long after WWDC. And in 2013, the MBP first came out in February. The other months are October and June. I don't see how that makes for any real consistent pattern.
As I said, it’s always Feb-March or June-July or Oct-Nov. The ONLY exception since 2012 is May 2015, and that was the very end of the month.

Never in January, never in April, never in August, never in September, never in December.

It really just depends on how far back you go. I know they've released Mac laptops in January in April. For example, the 2010 MacBook Pro came out in April.

I agree. Buyers guide says: June 2012, Feb 2013, Oct 2013, Jul 2014, May 2015, Oct 2016, June 2017.

The fact that they've never released in December or April or any month seems more like a coincidence than a hard and fast rule without any insight into their internal decision-making.

Could be. I’m probably mostly just trying to justify to myself that I bought a 2017 today. Not having a functional keyboard was interfering with my work, and the iPad Pro wasn’t cutting it.

The May 2015 release (15” pro) probably would have been alongside the March (13” pro) too but they apparently waited for the chips - I don’t know if that meant they were waiting on broadwell or waiting for the gpu they ended up using. The 2016 models were also delayed (battery issue) so I guess they would probably have been a summer launch too.

:D

If you need it, you need it. The good thing about the 2017 is that it has full hardware HEVC (8 and 10-bit) decode support, and if Apple ever decides to allow 4K streaming (10.14?), it also has the hardware for that too.
