Generally, yes. But don't forget these new HP All-in-ones only use 1080p displays!!!

It would seem that you cannot have such a small bezel on 4k or 5k displays right now. If you look at other Dell and HP displays... they both have some thin bezel displays. All of which are 1080p max.
The ones at 4k and 5k all have huge bezels in comparison. So ya... I believe it can simply not be done right now.

LG27ud
4k 27"

There are others too.
As usual, there is no excuse for apple.

My 2016 15" has been heating up a lot quicker I've noticed. Do these get a build up of dust inside that could be causing this?

It could be the summer heat. I have coconutBattery telling me the battery temperature and it went from around 28°C in April to 37-39°C in June/July for casual web browsing.

You're not alone.
This is one of the noticeably more complained about things for 2016±
Also fan noise, etc..

Hard to say the reason in general or in your case.

Is this the right time to buy 2017 mbp ?Do you think we will see any new models in September?

Still no 5k panel at 27". 4k at that size is completely useless for macOS (and for Windows too, thanks to it's garbage scaling)

Completely useless how? I have 4K at 32" and use one of MacOS's HiDPI settings and it looks lovely. It might not be *quite* as sharp as a native 5K at 27" but it is still bloody good.

4K is stunning in macOS at 27 inches... beats the piss out of my old 27 inch 1440p display for sure. I'd love to have one of the LG UltraFine 5K's, but I just can't justify the price point...

Well okay... I DID exaggerate. But scaled resolutions are simply a no-go for me. Why?
Well this guy described it perfectly.

Sounds like they start at four cores and go up from there? Apple may skip Coffee Lake then, because there's nothing suitable for the 13". Maybe there would be a 15" refresh but I doubt it. I think we won't see anything until Cannonlake in March 2018.

The quad core Coffee Lake U is suitable for the 13" MBP. They increased the number of cores from 2 to 4 and from 4 to 6 while keeping the same TDP for the chips.

This is my dream MacBook Pro in 2021:

- Intel Tigerlake
- 1 TB SSD
- 32 GBs of DDR4LPR
- 15 inch OLED
- AMD Vega Graphics with 8 GBs of vRAM

When every other laptop has 64GB DDR5, Apple keeps using 32GB DDR4 and they call it a MacBook PRO!

News? Nothing much is new there, we still don't know what kind of iGPU it has, I'm still afraid this will be low-end GT2 (we just get the name and base clock speed of this i7 variant). We're not much more informed than last month: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/waiting-for-the-2018-mbp.2048940/page-16#post-24824207

I see some laptops that will receive that CFL-U chip will also come with the Nvidia MX150; that's a 25W dGPU, and I don't think it could be fit in a rMBP13 for example.
Now, a low-end $1999 rMBP15 with this range of dGPU and such U-series chip instead of H-series could become interesting maybe, and preparing the switch to more apt CPUs at low TDPs with Cannon Lake and 10 nm.

Usually, intel release first the low-end U-Series CPUs that goes in the cheap laptops from PC brands and produced in large scale, the ones with GT3e and that Apple get being much later available.

You might be surprised, DDR3 came out in 2007 and it didn't start hitting mainstream until 2012 - industry wide. Its probably just in 2015 we started seeing some select systems with DDR4.

Taking into account DDR5 won't be officially ready until 2020, most of the industry won't have it either in 2021. Maybe 2026 or 2027 at the earliest before we see it mainstream. Knowing Apple, probably not until 2030 or 2032 at the earliest before its adopted. That might change since DDR5 is focused on power efficiency.

That's just strange to me since it hasn't even been a full year. Apple already has enough stock to put them up in the refurb?
What do you mean, it hasn't been a full year? Apple devices usually appear in the refurbished store a few months after launching. I don't think it has ever taken more than 6 months.

I don't think it has ever been this quick before however. What is it ? 2 months ? I doubt it is about stock however - more to do with sales and marketing numbers dictating decisions I would say

Who's with me?

Hopefully we'll see:
- Coffee Lake
- 32 GB of DDR4 RAM
- Battery improvements
- Touch Bar improvements
...

Battery design was probably chosen because of temperature problems - so they needed space around for ventilation purposes ;-)

Battery cannot be improved to compensate the higher electricity consumption of a LPDDR4 RAM - forget it, because they will not allow a thicker MBP. Even an OLED screen will not help...

How is TB to be improved?
This gag is not ergonomic, even for typing emojis you are quicker with Touch Pad and you find your favourites :D and for professional work everybody knows his shortcuts at best ;)

Amen to the butterfly keyboard. I know they won't just flat out remove touch bar, but can they just change them into keys again, with a changeable LED Icon... Would solve everything. Who cares about scrubbing, when I change volume, I actually like doing individual clicks on the F-keys to scrubbing as it is (same for on my iPhone, prefer using the hardware keys than scrubbing that stupid bar on screen).

Lastly, I can live without you bringing back the old ports, but could you

a) Get back to the 99wh/76wh battery standard for 15in/13in respectively? You were famous for having ridiculous battery life. Yes you tried to counteract the batttery loss with the screen energy saving, but that isn't much help when I am working with code/calculations, instead of just watching Netflix.
b) Change the trackpad size to it's former glory, so we don't have to worry about palm rejection or other nonsense that the new models seem to inhibit?
c) Magsafe, please, I hate charging using such a stiff connection such as USB-C.
Personally I think the Touch Bar should coexist with the function keys, that fixes everything. It'd even work with the dynamic keyboard, and it could be a Pro only feature as the 12" MacBook can't fit both a function row and a Touch bar. It would also work well with the Magic Keyboard as the function row is twice the height (and the Touch Bar isn't). Separating the function row and the Touch Bar will mean the entire bar could be used for the application controls, or maybe as a dock if an Application doesn't use it. It would be perfect in my opinion.

While old ports can fit, it's basically guaranteed that it won't happen. But with a partly tapered redesign, we could see a USB-A port, etc. Either way, MagSafe and an SD card slot are things that don't need a redesign to be implemented, and things I would like to see.
