Even if the 32 GBs of DDR4 RAM is hit to battery life, it wouldn't make one difference to me. My MacBook Pro is always plugged in at home, when I visit the Internet cafe and my brother.

Yeah, I know for some users, its important, but you need to be realistic too. I can imagine maybe waiting on a flight without plugging in, during the 3 hour flight and so on. But its not detrimental, especially considering, you might augment some of your usage with your smartphone and tablet.

I was one of the idiots who thought the 13" MBP would come standard with 8th gen. For the specs, these MacBook pros are way too expensive for me. I at least expect 16GB RAM to be standard if I'm spending $1800 on a 13". I'm hoping they truly release a budget Macbook this fall.

Filed Sept 2016, published March 2018 - to be honest I don’t know what to make of that. Is it already part of Gen 2?

Also, Apple have many patents which aren’t implemented.

I’ll wait for a tear down or otherwise?
I think Apple had planned obsolete for the 2016 keyboard...and had this prepared for 2017-2018 based on the fury of the people...lawsuits etc...i can see in this image an extra layer that prevents any dust/ingress...

Is this worth buying or is it better to wit till end of year to see if new models will come? What are chances of that?

Looking at the £2699 model... currently on a dying 2011 17inch machine.

Very slim chance, this is it for another 8-14 months, anything else this year will be consumer-oriented MacBooks. If you need it, and are willing to pay for it, there’s no reason not to get it at this moment that I can see

I don't forsee new(er) MBPs coming for at least 9 months.

The Apple Back To School sale is on now. You get normal edu pricing but also get Beats headphones for free.

Or do you mean third party retailers and discounts off full price?

Hmmm... I don't buy that 20% number. Yes, LP RAM helps, but often not by that much, as it really depends on the usage pattern. Plus, for light usage I wouldn't be surprised if 6-core runs longer than 4-core. Not sure though until we get the reviews.

And I believe the new model has bigger batteries too.

EDIT:

I was confused in my response to Poki's post. I was thinking about the 15".

Oh wow, thanks! I guess I’ll be placing my order soon. I will either keep the beats as backups or just sell them for some $$ back since I already have a pair.

Oh no...!! i got my Macbook Pro 2017 delivered to my house on the 27th of June. Which as of today is 15 days ago. Has anyone had any experience with returning or changing Macs after the 14 day return-warrantee?

Does anyone know how long the back to school sale usually lasts?

I’m about to go on a 1.5 week long vacation and I’d rather get it when I come back.

Apple Launches 2018 Back to School Promotion: Free Beats With Select Mac or iPad Pro Models

The promotion runs until September 25, 2018, and is available through Apple's online store, retail stores, and authorized campus stores, or by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. Read the terms and conditions for complete details.

Questions:
- 32 gb ram, how they did the implementation without intel support in chipset?
- no clues about keyboard reliability? (I don't care about 'quiet')
- hexa-core/8th gen cpu = i9 or i7?

Btw - for those in the UK, a long with the 10% student promotion and the free Beats (choice of different products), 0% finance is currently available!

Ask, they can only say no - they might decide as it was so soon before the update that you can return it for one of the new models

These chips support 64GB of RAM. Apple did it by using DDR4, not LPDDR4 (which is what Intel is sputtering on)
From what I read, Apple people said nothing about improved durability, just more quiet during the demo sessions with reviewers.
I'm going i9.

Going for the i9, 16GB, 1TB SSD, Apple Care. $4k X_x
Let's hope this guy lasts 10 years like my current MBP in my sig. Time to go dongle shopping.

1) It’s not LPDDR, so the RAM uses more power
2) We have to wait and see.
3) Both i7 and i9 are 6-core. I think i9 is overkill.

I wonder how toasty the new MBP will get with the 6 cores. Dell already had issues with throttling in the 2017 model line, and its been amplified with Coffee Lake. These bad boys seem to run hotter

From the marketing material - it appears they have improved/changed the cooling, so hopefully they got it covered.
