Waiting for Apple spokesperson to reply with "Next software update will have a fix that" 😂

I'm guessing there will be a fix deployed. Likely to limit the charging power. Wireless charging has been around for a while, but I've seen a lot more issues recently across devices and I can only think it is down to pushing the power.

What is the point of wireless charging? To save a couple of seconds that it would otherwise take to plug in a wire? Taking that couple of seconds to plug in a wire will save several minutes or even hours because wired charging charges the phone much faster than wireless charging.
Not to mention the cable provides more versatility in that you can pick up and use the phone WHILE it charges

Maybe apple’s relentless pursuit of secrecy hurts it when it comes to compatibility. Something basic as wireless charging shouldn’t result in this.

I was thinking about upgrading but I think this model is best to avoid.. putting a new battery in my iPhone 8 Plus. The Apple disaster keeps getting worse and worse. John Scully all over again.

I upgraded from the 8 to the 15 Pro 1TB and it's mostly fine. There's problems with every phone every year. But honestly, I got it for the video capabilities so I can use it for my work. If I didn't need something for that, I would have stuck with my 8 and got a new battery.

Just wait a year until they sort out the battery/3nm/usb issues. Then again, Apple's quality control has gone downhill on both hardware and software. WatchOS 10 is a mess, finewoven cases are a mess. It's possible that the 16 is just going to be more of the same.

My iPhone 14 Pro will get uncomfortably hot when wireless charging in my Tesla Model 3 Anne would also often give a message saying that charging has stopped due to heat. I am foregoing wireless charging at all with my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I just don’t trust it. I also had my battery run down to 89% health after a year on my iPhone 14 Pro, and I think it’s primarily due to it overheating while wireless charging.
For what it’s worth, my iPhone 14 Pro Max battery health dropped to 88% in a year and I never use wireless charging.

My car is too old to have this feature, but I have had a few friends complain about how hot their phones get when using the BMW charger.

Some of them also with Android phones. I recall a couple threads on this issue over at Bimmerforums back in the day.

The overheating issue I could care less about (I don't respect anyone who uses Instagram, I always uninstall Uber after I use it, I don't play freebie games with in app purchases, etc) but this seems like a pretty serious glitch. Been using iPhone 15 Pro since launch and havn't had any issues!
Whether you care about the apps known to trigger the problem:

1) there may be more lesser known ones that do, ones maybe you do care about

2) given how mum Apple has been on the cause I suspect there’s security implications to the bug that they havent patched yet

If you have an iPhone 15 and drive a BMW, it might be best to avoid charging the device with the vehicle's wireless charging pad for now.

Over the past week, some BMW owners have complained that their iPhone 15's NFC chip no longer works after charging the device with their vehicle's wireless charging pad, according to comments shared on the MacRumors Forums and X, formerly known as Twitter. Affected customers say the iPhone goes into a data recovery mode with a white screen, and the NFC chip is no longer functional after the device reboots.

In an iPhone, the NFC chip powers features like Apple Pay and digital car keys. Affected users receive a "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay" error message in the Wallet app, and there does not appear to be a way to fix the problem. Some customers say Apple replaced their iPhone after confirming the NFC chip failed, but the replacement iPhone is then vulnerable to the same issue, so there is currently no permanent solution.

While complaints so far have come from iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users, it is possible the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are also affected, so owners of any iPhone 15 model should proceed with caution until this issue is sorted.

It's unclear what the specific cause of the issue is, how many customers are affected, and which BMW models are affected. We've reached out to an Apple spokesperson for comment, and we'll update this story if we receive a response.

The iPhone 15 keeps getting better and better!

Everyday some news about something else being wrong with iPhone 15… almost the same with iOS 17. Apple’s quality getting worse.
Not really. When you have 1 Billion phones in the world and sell over 200 M per year there is undoubtedly issues that crop up especially on new releases. Couple that with the fact that many Apple haters (I.e. Android people) love to post and exploit any Apple issue like it’s the end of the iPhone.
