Was going with titanium going to backfire for Apple?

From the drop tests I’ve seen, I say yes. The minimal weight savings is not worth it.
The 14, 13, etc PM’s are just not too heavy to use unless someone has problems with their hands. I do and still do not find it heavy.
However, pocketing it can occasionally be an annoyance.

that doesnt mean it wasnt a misfire, just means they crunched the numbers and found that they will live with the fallout...it is already being changed for next year because of the tolerances verses Manufactuing process was technically not in control but past production decision....beta version had to start somewhere.
right, because that’s exactly how a multi trillion dollar corporation runs.

And please provide sources when you make claims like this.
Is there a source out there saying that there’s going to be a dramatic change in the manufacturing process next year?
Is there a source out there going into details with apples testing of the tolerance of the 15 pro models?
Or did you just watch JerryRig forcibly and intentionally shatter a phone, then jump to conclusions about what Apple will and won’t do.

being stupid is thinking you are the one exception until you arent and someone else pays for you breaking the law and in some cases with their life, that's being stupid.
I don’t think I’m the one exception. I know that there are many exceptions to most common beliefs in the world. If you can’t do something safely then don’t do it. If you see someone doing something unsafely by all means be aggravated and maybe even push for correction. But to assume that your understanding, or your abilities make something true is not a fact but an opinion.

I frequently use a round about for runs/jogs. I see all types of people use their phones while they are driving. Some piss me off. Some are dangerous. Some are not. It just is not a black and white topic.

Nothing is confirmed until IPhone 16 release so let’s not get ahead of ourselves with “rumors” that never come to fruition. Just saying sales and stock price matters regardless of what some public and YTers think. Not discrediting your opinion fwiw.

iPhone 14 Pro Max weight was ballooning out of control and has been a joke subject by the Android community for the last year.

With titanium the consensus is much different.

I hope it sticks for the Pro line. Blue and Natural colors are gorgeous. The other 2 just feel redundant, they should come up with something different next year.

There are at least 68 other Android phones that exceeds the 240g iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Never seen any of those phones, nobody cares about AliExpress crap.
The market is made by Samsung + Pixel + Xiaomi.
There were actual foldables lighter than the 14PM, that was frankly unbelievable, as an iPhone user you should be happy that Apple addressed that issue.

Huh? Doesn’t Pixel have like…. Less than 2% market share domestically and less than 0.1% globally?

Feel free to mislead my argument, I'm not following you.
Did Apple think that the 14PM weight was an issue?
Yes, otherwise they would have not solved it at a significant cost for their R&D.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. I'm outta this thread.

...and every single one of those suck. the 14 Pro Max is too heavy for routine one-handed use, which is how I use my phone almost exclusively.

I have ridiculously strong arms, hands and fingers (I'm a rock climber), but the Pro Max weight just sucks..

Lol, that’s exactly how they run…I’ve been in a huge manufacturing company in a different industry that is FDA regulated for many years and runs some tolerances down to .0002 if validated…not every design is a winner but a numbers game to go to market with numbers that have passed and are acceptable. But rest assured that design if going to be continued will be better next version and the manufacturing process will be better at the new facilities that went thru a learning curve.

Lol but keep your head in the sand.

I like mine a lot, the reduction in weight/apparent weight is significant. I am not big on colors so limited colors do not bother me. I think it was a good choice at least not a failure like the title is asking about.

Biggest one is that it don’t conduct heat effectively.
Biggest one is that it don’t conduct heat effectively.

And with the new chips apparently substandard but instead of being disposed of - were used anyway and that is why the phone is heating up. Maybe they should have just used curved matt stainless steel instead.

More than last year I actually feel sorry for day one purchasers and now I’m looking to give them some good news - but this launch just seems cursed! But TMSC growing substandard products and having to use them because there is nothing else around does not bode well for the early units.
where did this idea that Titanium doesn’t conduct come from? It’s not as good as Aluminum (190 W/mK vs 22 W/mK) but is definitely better than steel at 14 W/mK. Additionally, assuming the steel was bolted to Aluminum the Welded TI frame will be better at getting heat from the Aluminum chassis to the outside surface

I don't think there is anything wrong with the titanium. I think its the glass on the back. The front never breaks in the tests so far. It's either thinner cheaper glass, or there isn't enough support under it to prevent it from flexing. IMHO the Titanium is fine.

It's early, but, titanium is a winner. Apple is going to sell boatloads of these iPhones. And may they continue using it across multiple product lines.
They would sell boatloads if they were made of iron.

Really?!! No problems here a year on with the added weight of a leather case. And I’ve climbed zero rocks

The only issue I have with it is... If you're going to give us a lighter phone, but then take it away next year by making it even bigger (see all the rumors pointing to a 6.3" display for the Pro), then what is even the point?
