return it? Never knew apple had a 2 year return policy. Who said it was a brand new watch?

A battery health warning means your battery is at or below what Apple considers normal battery operating capacity (80%). You will probably need to have the battery changed if you plan to keep the watch. The cost for a new battery is $79 dollars plus any applicable tax.Series 4, updated to 7.0 Thursday night. Friday morning, walked 5 miles in 1.5 hours, and watch was at 13% when I got home! It was on the charger 3 times that day. Day 2, Saturday, same routine, up, walk 5 in 1.5, back home and battery was at 10%. Updated watch to 7.0.1. No good. Rebooted phone and watch. Nothing. Unpaired and paired watch and presto, problem solved! Same walk today in the morning, now at 43% at 5:30 PM which is normal. I have NEVER had any issues before with OS updates. I am getting a warning about battery health...something I’ve never looked at before. Is that normal for a 2 year old watch?
Thanks BasicGreatGuy. I do plan on keeping it longer—SS cellular, and at that price I can’t justify a new watch yet. I am rethinking SS though, as I live with Watch Envy with every new release. Again, thanks for your input on the battery replacement.A battery health warning means your battery is at or below what Apple considers normal battery operating capacity (80%). It is not abnormal to get such a warning on a heavily used 2 year old watch.
I'm sorry, I don't agree with that statement. Apple says" Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 1000 complete charge cycle" see here:https://www.apple.com/batteries/service-and-recycling/A battery health warning means your battery is at or below what Apple considers normal battery operating capacity (80%). Sorry but i don't buy that. My watches battery life is good. I only have two third party apps on it. My battery drain is well within Apples parameters. They is no way that Apple would release WatchOS if it was causing a battery drain issue
Me too. Weird that it seems to be the opposite form some where the new OS made battery worse. I haven't died overnight anymore since 7.0.1 if I go to bed with sufficient chargeLooks like 7.0.1 update might have solved the problem, have been wearing for 90 minutes today and on 99%
Ok, so maybe you do have 700 or so charge cycles on your watch, still way below the 1000 Apple says to be at 80% ... I would still contact them and report this, this just is not normal. Battery should be replaced, product is not meeting your nor apples expectations@jz0309 No Apple Care. Battery Health is 75%. My husband’s S4 is 84%, bought a year after mine. I’ve charged it daily from the start, as by the end of the day it would be around 30% with just tracking the 5 miles/day, and significantly less on days I add Body Pump. This was my first Apple Watch, and I assumed that was normal. OS7 was ridiculous though, finishing a walk and needing to charge it immediately. That, at least, is fixed!
Yea I didn't even need to do the pairing thing. Once I got 7.0.1 I didn't wake up to a dead watch that had 50%+ before I went to bedExplain why un pairing and then re pairing made a difference for my series 4 watch ?
I didn’t change any other settings on my watch.
After updating to iOS 7.01 it’s gotten even better.
I hope you have AC+ on your watch, Miss Judy.My less than year old Series 5 was at 88%. After reading this forum I called Apple support, and it is now going to be sent in for repair. FYI, while talking to support, I did mention that I had previously sent in the watch for repair due to the issue a lot of us were having with the watch staying at 100% for hours and then suddenly dying. She said that might be why the battery health was low.
No need, it’s still under the original one year warranty.I hope you have AC+ on your watch, Miss Judy.
With AOD on, as well as background refresh? Curious about your settings and watch face.Maybe this thread is dead, but my partner and I both had serious battery drain going to watchOS 7 on our Series 5s. Since watchOS 7.0.1 those issues resolved without un-pair, re-pair. I also got my Series 6 last Friday, updated to 7.0.1 and the battery life on this watch is stellar, best battery life of any of the Apple Watches I've owned, and I've owned every series that's released. For example, I charge around 10pm and typically around 30-35% after several workouts tracked and lots of daily activity. I wear it sleeping and it has lost between 5-7% during the night while tracking my sleep and health measurements. This watch finally feels like it has become what I've wanted all along. At 46% the heart and Blood Oxygen measurements are invaluable, I love it.
AOD is on, watch face changes between Califonia, Solar Dial (this one I use the most) and Infograph. All are maxed with complications. Background App refresh on with all apps active, Siri on lift, enable handoff on as well. I have Cellular on always as well. Just realized Handwashing and Noise checks was off so I turned that on now and will update if it reduces my battery. With AOD on, as well as background refresh?
