I would expect that an update is imminent. What I understood is that the currently available betas of iOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1 have the same issues (health problems, etc.) and there will be iOS 14.0.2 and watchOS 7.0.2.
Would not be surprised if they drop today even. But don't count on that.

Let's hope so.
Absolute Apple fan nevertheless, but the battery draining updates are frustrating.

Switched off Bluetooth on my AW and did a 40min strength workout. Still about 10% battery drain so Bluetooth does not seem to be the issue.

Maybe the problems with Apple Health cause the drain?

I'm curious what you're expecting the battery drain to be during a workout?

Based on four years of Apple watches, IMHO 10% over 40 minutes seems normal considering the HRM is fully active vs it's usual every-once-in-a-while non-workout activity.

I had 6-7% with watchOS 6 or about 10% on an hour. So just like when going out for a run, the consumption is about 50% higher now with watchOS 7. I suspect now that it has to do with the problems in Apple Health.

Thinking about your point with the optical HR and my observation that my Bluetooth heart rate strap seems to be connected and disconnected on my runs. It could also be the optical HR that causes the drain.

I charged my watch to 100% and in the morning it had 93%. Is this normal? I don't use night clock. And when the watch is resting on a table, active on display is not active. I think 7% is a lot.

No that’s normal. That’s less than 1% per hour. While wearing it overnight 10% in 8 hours is normal.

I noticed today that it seems like my watch battery drains much more quickly when I'm using Apple Maps for in car navigation. I don't have the turn by turn notifications Enabled on the watch either. It's almost as if the maps app on the watch is constantly updating in the background while my phone is providing turn by turn navigation Even though I haven't opened or even used the maps app on the watch. I've tried disabling background app updates for the maps app on the watch But it doesn't seem to help. If I force quit maps on my phone the battery drain on the watch seems to go back to "normal".

My S4 watch battery life drained quickly after the initial install of Watch OS7. After reading comments from other users here, I unpaired and the re-paired the watch with my phone. Since then, battery life has increased to the point that the watch now holds a charge longer the the prior Watch OS. I'm happy for this, however, Apple screwed this up and current watch owners should not have had to unpair and then re-pair their watches to have decent battery life.

Im getting average 2 plus days battery now , amazing !

I managed to stretch my last charge to 3 ... so much for the apple watch having poor battery life

Really impressed

Did u faced battery drain issue in watchos 7? if so then how long battery lasts ? I tried all the solution but didn't worked at all. My watch is giving only 10-11 hrs battery back after watchos 7 update.

I’m using a static face , no background updates , no always on display and medium brightness.

That seems to help ?

After updating last week my watch has shown consistently poor battery life and doesn’t seem to be improving. I charge daily and before rarely went below 30% remaining in a day, I’ve gone down below 10% twice and now am charging twice a day to prevent it.

For those of you unpairing and pairing again are you setting up a new watch or does restoring from a backup seem to work?

As I've had the same issue (both on Watch 5 and now 6), I've been trying every mentioned solution possible (optimizing settings, hard reset, unpair & re-pair (both back-up and as new), etc.).

At first, none of these seem to help.
Right now - 2 days after I'd given up on trying to find a solution - battery life finally has stabilized and improved.
So, give it a few days after you've unpaired and re-paired it.
On top of that, I've been updating all my Apple devices (e.g. Macbook), perhaps that has also made an impact due to syncing in the background?

Right now, I still have 80% left with 6h30 standby time and 1h30 of usage. Seems solid.

I restored from backup, issue resolved right away

Today, I started the day with a freshly charged battery (100%).
After ~1h it's been down 10%, I didn't have a clue why it was draining so fast (no workout or anything else, just sitting on my desk, not actively using the watch).
I've just done a hard reset and now (2h later) battery level is still at 86%, which seems normal behaviour.

Don't know if it might help others, but perhaps worth trying as soon as you notice a battery drain.

Datapoints for my S6 / OS7.0.1

Yesterday:
Normal daily life / usage, plus a 20 minute outdoor walk (LTE/GPS/HR/no music) and a 40 minute Other activity (HR).
At bedtime, 43% battery and showing 17h38m standby, 3h33m usage.

Monday:
Normal daily life / usage, plus a 47 minute Outdoor Run (LTE/GPS/HR/locally-stored-music) and later a 17 minute outdoor walk (HR/LTE/GPS/no-music).
At bedtime, 30% battery and showing 17h39m standby, 3h28m usage.

These align what with what I experienced on my Series5 / OS6.

My apple watch series 6 is usually on the charger over night (haven't tried the sleep tracking feature yet). But when I take it off the charger in the morning before heading to work (usually at like 7:15AM ) it drops to 99% within like 10 mins or less and drains pretty fast from there. The battery is still good and last me all day (even around 9-10PM) I still have like 75-77% battery life. But I am not doing work outs at work or anything so it just seems a little odd. Maybe I am just so use to the iPhone 11 pro max battery life that I am expecting too much from the watch lol.

Friday I took my watch off the charger about 7:30am at 99% battery. At 5:15pm I got the 10% remaining warning. That night I decided to try the unpair and repair procedure, using the restore from backup. After doing so I actually used an old watch (series 2) most of the day Saturday so I could charge the newer (series 5) watch to 100%. Took the newer watch off the charger about 5:15pm yesterday, wore it until 2:00am today with no workouts and very little activity (under 1,000 steps). At 2:00am it had 64% battery remaining. So still very bad battery life.

Just to note, my old series 2 I wore Saturday daytime had 68% battery remaining after about 9 hours of use and a short workout.

Should I maybe try an unpair and setup as new watch? Or does anyone have an idea about another software update coming soon?

I was one of the reluctant guys who feared of unpairing/pairing the watch. Well, as no 7.0.2 update is in sight, I did it yesterday.
Took about 45mins until everything was back up again, had to configure some apps entirely new (disappointing) and have to say: battery life during runs is back to watchOS 6.2 levels. Now 1,5% per kilometer instead of 2-3% before unpairing.
