My S4 battery life is pretty bad since upgrading to WatchOS 7. Judging by the slope of the chart in Settings > Battery it looks like 6-8 hours is all it can handle. Battery health indicates 91%. I'm going to try a unpair/repair now, but I've found new use for my old S0 – I can wear that while my S4 is charging. Boy, is it slow 😂

How to restore an Apple Watch withou losing the rings of the current day?

I don't think the rings are stored only in your watch, pretty sure that data resides on your iPhone in Fitness or Health, so you should be fine. Also if you unpair from the watch app, it automatically creates a backup, so when re-pair just be sure to select that backup and you should have everything except maybe Apple Pay / wallet stuff.

I unpaired and repaired this morning and the battery life ”seems” to be better. The verdict is still out. It certainly didn’t hurt

Glad I found this thread! On my S4 I would wear it from 7 am until 11 pm and when I put it on the charger it still had a little above 50% battery left. After upgrading to WatchOS 7 about a day and half ago, it completely died at 5 pm yesterday. I have rebooted everything. Hand Washing wasn't even on. So I guess my next step is to do the unpair/repair. I've never had an update affect battery life like this.

Having a severe issue with my apple watch series 4 about battery drain with watchos 7. Installed beta after developer release. Getting the issue after then. Now final version is installed in it. Battery lasts only 10-12 hrs after i charge my watch to 100%. Battery health is showing 92% which seems pretty ok. But didn't got the reason for the battery drain. Apple advisor checked & found all the hardware ok. But unable to find the reason for this. Every hour battery drains 5-6% automatically without any use of it. It's connected with 11 pro. Already tried following:

> Resetting & start as fresh without restoring backup
> Unpairing with my phone & repairing again
> Resetting my phone & start as fresh without restoring backup
> No Handwashing enabled
> Disabled bluetooth of my phone & used watch without any connectivity with any bluetooth devices.

any solution for this ?

Your solution I would guess is to wait for a new software release.

Go on the Apple feedback page and submit your findings to them. Hopefully you reported it throughout beta anyway in the interest of saving the masses!

10 month old Nike 44 cellular here. Maybe it is still too early but after updating to Watch OS7 my battery has improved significantly. It just feels like unreal. in OAD I could go 24 hours the most and not more than 48 hours with AOD off. After yesterday's full charge it went 18 hours and still had 60% left with AOD. Second charge now and sitting at 98% after 2 hours. Very impressive if it stays this way. I have read in one of the reviews from today that S6 has 20% improved battery life. Supposedly Apple told this to the reviewer.

damn you got the nike 44, thats a secret vip model i bet

I haven't experienced any battery drain. AOD off I have 60% +/- and AOD on I get 25% +/- left at end of day (18-19 hours of use) on all watchOS beta's and GM. I however have never used hand washing feature, tested it once but not for me.

Make sure Health app is switched to green in the iCloud section of settings app. That makes sure health data is backed up to iCloud. I’ve had a few instances where the current day rings get lost. Doesn’t seem like anything can be done to prevent it.

just a thought and an idea, when iOS 13 came out I had an issue with the Solar Dial face. I didn’t need to be actually using the face, just having it installed caused an issue for some reason, so if you’ve got it installed try removing it. If not try removing all your faces to see if one is the cause.

The other thing you could try is going through your settings on the watch (not the watch app on the phone) as when I did this I found some things still turned on that I thought I had turned off on the watch app on the phone (breathe alerts for example).

hope that helps, good luck!

After 6 hours I'm at 10% after a starting at a full charge. Before the update I could go all day without a charge. Using an apple watch series 5 and it's 4 months old.

I just noticed my watch had turned itself off and was only displaying the time in low power mode or whatever, this was strange as I knew an hour or so ago it had plenty of battery in it.
It would not turn back on. I put it on the charger and it’s straight back to 69%

I'm getting a high battery drain on my Apple Watch (Series 5) too. I was down to less than 20% after 1 day (and I am usually at 50% or so). It's been 4 hours now and I am at 71%. Hopefully the next update fixes the drain.

Ditto.

I unpaired/re-paired my S4 earlier today and the battery life was noticeably better the rest of the day. Give it a try if you are having this issue. Looks like ~12 hours instead of 7 so still a little less than watchOS 6, though ...
