I too had this problem - had to unpair / repair watch to fix the battery draining so fast. It wasn't a big deal to do it, really. Oh well.

I’m also having a battery issue since updating; today again suddenly got a 10% warning where usually I see my watch last all day.

What do I do re the unpair > pair without messing things up, can anybody please advise?

Additionally, my walk and cycle routes aren’t appearing in the map view of the workout summary. Usually I’d see the whole route, whereas now they’re all showing as one single pin. Super annoying and presumably a bug — is anybody else experiencing this?

I have those same two problems. Some people have had problems with their activity data getting more messed up after an unpair/re-pair, so no guarantees. I just tried unpairing and re-pairing from backup and am evaluating whether it has fixed anything yet. The problem with map view after a workout has been acknowleged by Apple as a bug they are investigating.

After 6-7 hours I am sitting at 68% battery on my S4. This is typically what I ended the day with after 12+ hours on Watch OS 6. This battery drain is making me worry.

Anyone else having serious issues with battery life?
Me on an S4 cellular. Similar issue to yours, and it’s not passing map data back to the phone.

Series 5 owner here.
Battery life for me on OS 7 is appalling. I can almost watch the battery percentage drop.

I'm pretty regimental with my usage pattern and typically finish a days use somewhere between 45-53 percent battery remaining.

My watch was fully charged this morning and I started wearing it around 9:30 am. Just put my watch on charge at around 10:15 pm and it was at 10 percent. On Watch OS 6 I would have had around 50 percent left at that time.

I'm hoping after a few more days or worse still a few more software updates, the battery life will return to what I was seeing on Watch OS 6.

Something makes me think it was the same last year when Watch OS 6 first dropped.

Well today the battery life is much better (and the watch has had pretty much the same usage as yesterday).
Watch was switched on around 10 AM and its almost 10 PM now, and my battery is sitting at 49 percent. Around this time yesterday I would have been down to 10 percent.

So it seems like its like someone mentioned earlier in this thread that you can't judge battery life shortly after installing a major new software release.

OK, this is kind of interesting – I had the battery drain issues, which were fixed by the unpair / re-pair, but once I re-enabled the unlock my mac feature again, the battery drain started again. Maybe that is the cause of the drain? Can anyone else corroborate this? I had to go through a few steps to re-enable it ...

This is most interesting! I also lost the ability to unlock my iMac with the watch but haven't yet tried to re-enable it. Battery life is back to normal levels at this point. Thanks for bringing this potential problem up because now I think I rather have better battery life vs. auto unlock enabled. Hopefully this whole thing gets sorted out soon..

One thing that would help to determine whether this is in fact the issue is to learn whether anyone who had battery issues after upgrading to watchOS 7 did NOT have the watch unlock feature enabled?

I did the un-pair/re-pair....it stayed at 100% longer....today will be the real test....normal notifications for conf calls, etc... so I shall report back tomorrow or later today. Last week after the install I was having to charge my watch up at least once during my work day for it to last the rest of the evening....

For those that unpair and re-pair are you restoring from backup or setting up from new?

During the unpairing process a backup of the watch is performed. When you get to the re-pair stage, select restore from backup. It will provided a time stamp when the backup was made so you can verify the backup was made when you unpaired.

Got a S6 44mm SS last Friday and the battery has been really bad, for example yesterday it was 1% by the time I was going to bed with no workouts and all apps closed.

My old S3, the battery would easily be 30%-40% at the end of the day.

Haven't tried the unpair re-pair yet but will give that a go.

Do you have auto unlock enabled on a mac?

Same Here! After reinstalled your watch, you need to enable this feature on your iMac. Open up settings,
I do but it doesn't seem to be working properly. As in, Have it enabled on the Mac but it is failing to unlock so having to use password or TouchID

I think it is because of Mac OS Catalina does not support watch OS7 or iOS 14. I bet Mac OS Big Sur will fix this issue. The same with handoff. It worked with iOS 13. but iOS 14.

My S4 was getting more than a day. I sleep in mine but would throw it on the charger in the evening after exercise, or when I was showering.

With OS7 I’m not even making it TO exercise (late afternoon/early evening). I’ve lost HOURS of battery life to the point that the device is no longer viable for me.

I had the same battery life problem with my S5 after upgrading to WatchOS 7. Looks like unpair/repair fixed it for me however now auto unlock can’t be enabled on my iMac...

Same here.

The Stainless Steel S6 just arrived so I am going to hope that when I migrate to it, it will work with it.

Edit: To the people above, I also restored from backup.

I will let everyone know how the S6 works unlocking to see if it is the same as the S5
