Sorry, new to the thread. But I'm just wondering why you guys don't just order a SS with sports band and order the link bracelet separate? The price of SS SB + Additional link is the same as SS Link + Additional SB. You are essentially getting the watch 3-4 weeks earlier to use and then just switch in the link when it comes.

Well, among other things Applecare won't cover the link bracelet in your scenario.

Some people did exactly that; however, the link bracelet won't be covered under AC+ if you decide to get it.

That's exactly why I'm in the June boat. I feel much more comfortable investing in this bracelet knowing it's insured for the next 2 years by buying it together with the watch.

Honestly being able to share the uncertainty with everybody on here has definitely made this Link Launch more bearable.

Agreed, if it wasn't for this forum/thread I would be super worried everyone already had their link watches.
Thanks Link fam!!! We stick together.

I am more and more convinced that they have production issues with the link bracelet. Production of SS watches doesn't seem to be a problem. Its the link band which seems to be delaying things

Hah, I guess I'm the complete opposite to everyone. Honestly how can you accidentally destroy a link bracelet lol. Furthermore, I guess I'm a monster but I look forward to getting my link band scratched up to add personal flavour and character :p just like how I like my phones naked
So no AppleCare+ for my link doesn't bother me at all, win win situation! I do have AC+ For my watch though (for resale reasons) but I'm going to re use my link bracelet next gen so win win

How does it help with resale?

I'm with you for nicks and scratches on my devices. I like the character it adds. Shows that I actually use them.

Well one, I can get the body renewed so that it is in a BNIB condition when I sell it. And two, if I sell it next year they'll know that they have one more year of AC+ for accidental damages making them less worried about the purchase

If by production issues you mean it's the band that takes the longest to produce then yes. The problem is Apple doesn't ship piecemeal. They ship in huge quantities so trust me, when they start shipping this thing they will knock out a huge chunk of the preorders.

Several reasons why it doesn't work like this: 1) AC+ does not cover cosmetic damage so you're technically not allowed to replace the body just from paying the deductible, 2) you may not be able to recoup the full $79 deductible + $69 AC+ from selling it in BNIB condition, and 3) experienced sellers will tell you that buyers often opt not to take AC+ (for illogical reasons) and they end up having to cancel AC+ to get the prorated refund, so it doesn't necessarily help with the resale value.

Personally, I think AC+ is a bad value because it's tethered to the wrist so you don't have the same risk as dropping an iPhone and it's IPX7 water resistance so any water ingress due to a defect will be covered under the standard warranty.

Apple Watch Charging Stand

One aspect of the link bracelet is that the watch stays in a loop and does not lay flat for charging. There are some neat stands out there, but the one I liked best was from Nomad. It looks like they may ship around the same time as our watches.

They have been good about keeping me informed during their design and build process. I'm including a quote I got today:

"Due to a delay in finalizing the exact dimensions of Apple Watch charging cable and the unexpectedly different sized charging cable shipping with Apple Watch Sport, we had to make some last minute adjustments so that Stand will work perfectly with every variation of Apple Watch and cables available."

It looks like Apple hasn't made it very easy on it's partners either, at least in terms of specifications and early information.

Here is a link if anyone is interested. What's everyone else doing about charging?

I've ordered one already as well. :)

There is a thread started already for the Nomad stand, if anyone wants to discuss it further:

Just an FYI, but the link band actually can separate.

Cool:cool:
I didn't notice that in the store. I'm assuming that works through disconnecting a link?

BTW, has anyone tried removing/replacing a band. It's amazingly easy. Whole process could be done in under 10 seconds. Extremely well thought out.

"Technically" ;) I'm sure they'll be fine with it if some clear dinks are on the stainless steel. It's not about recouping the amount, you'll find that after a year you'll have trouble even selling it if it's used- especially a wearable. The fact that it's wrapped will make it more sellable and sell faster. Furthermore I'm not going to price it higher just because I have AC+, the AC+ is there for me to sell it easier. $150 is worth the less hassle and faster sell-times to me.

Used wearables sell all the time in all sorts of conditions given the right price. Perhaps you'll get dinged $50 or so for a less than desirable condition. Sure, it'll sell faster and you'll have an easier time, but you most likely still won't recoup the full cost of AC+.
