Chris Pirillo is the sh*t. He’s the only one to speak open about Apple’s software shortcomings since iOS 7 with its lags and questionable design decisions. Then you get these tech sites like The Verge calling this amazing etc. and are too afraid to say anything bad just so they can get invites for the next Apple event. The reason this is getting hate is because it isn’t symmetrical like Apple usually tends to pride its products on. It interferes with the software and detracts from the user experience. Having said that, I will still pre order and be the judge myself and will just return it if I don’t end up liking it.

LMFAO, you hate on the iPhone X but you will order it anyway......OK. Chris P. has been hating on Apple for the longest time, yet he's wearing and Apple watch, has an iPad Pro, iMac, MacBook Pro, buys all the new iPhone's. Watch his channel for the iPhone X unboxing November 3rd.Then he wonders why his channel has got the same amount of subs for last few years. Why do you thing he just subbed today? His views are way down and his income is taking a huge hit. Time for 9-5 Chris!

I can't believe this scrub has 10 pages worth of replies, including myself. I'm done wasting time on this burnout.

I don't think the notch looks bad (would be better if it wasn't there of course), but needing bars on both sides in landscape mode when browsing using Safari or watching 16:9 videos, yeah that's not something I would expect to see from Apple.

I truly think that while that would have worked quite easily with an OLED screen, Apple wanted a more unique look, including the visible notch. Otherwise it would look like a Samsung or LG:

The LG V30 there looks amazing. And if you took took the Apple logo off the X, and never had any early leaks, you'd never think Apple would create something like that for the grand tenth anniversary phone.

And I still say iOS 11 looks super dated on the X, as like it doesn't belong. Apple should have given the iPhone X a fresh new UI, and finally stepped away from the "Left the app drawer open" look they've had for too long.

I am very curious how it will sell to the masses ? Majority of iPhone users are used to the big thumb home button, and big bezels and famous chin, it just screams iPhone to the non tech geeks, which are 95% of the people buying it. This radical new design may take time for the average Joe people to grow on, and take hold.

Will not he surprised if the iPhone 8 sells far more numbers than X.

It's hilarious how someone who doesn't even have the physical product in their hands is going off of visuals on the internet and some memo...

There's a reason apple has their crazy return policy of, buy it, and if you don't like it, you can return it, as long as it is in sellable condition..for your money back in two weeks.

What other company, not just tech company, has a return policy like that that OPENLY invites you to test play their products priced at 800-1000 dollars?

I'm sure that even without his "video" whatever designs apple needs to do to make the user experience work with the notch, that it'll happen.

My initial impressions are that I hate it, yes, but I'm still ordering it because I feel like it's one of those things that you need to try out yourself. I hated the look of the new control centre at first, but now I've come to like it having actually used it. I have 14 days to see if the notch either grows on me or if it becomes a distraction nightmare. It's the only way I'll be able to see if it's truly terrible or not and I trust my own judgement over any tech review these days. Also, you can still use Apple products and call them out on their sh*t you know. I don't have much choice as I dislike Android and their ecosystem isn't as good as Apple's, thus my love/hate relationship with Apple continues.

Chris is not hating on Apple, he's being critical (nothing wrong with that) of a company that he has loved for a long time that has been producing products that he believes are beneath what their standards use to be (it was his opinion on his personal YouTube channel). Yes he has Apple products! Disliking iOS software since iOS7 and the new design of the X does not mean he "hates" Apple products and therefore shouldn't use them. He probably subbed today because this thread was brought to his attention and to clear up what some people were saying about his feelings in his video. His sub count isn't huge probably because he's not like some reviewers who are kissing company *** (and you know there are some) to stay on their good side. He has a 9-5, he's a entrepreneur and YouTube isn't his only source of income or he'd clearly be broke... Everyone has an opinion about this phone and maybe his opinion will change about this phone when seeing it in hand? Who knows but he didn't put this video here, someone else did! So let's not be choads here and throw hate...

About every company who wants to sell products in Europe?

I don't care. People whined when Moto released their original smartwatch and everyone made fun of the "flat tire." I decided to take a chance and quess what, in few days I completely stopped noticing it. I am fairly certain that's how I'll feel when I get the X.

You do realize I hope that "not noticing something" isn't the same thing as "the problem doesn't exist".

Have fun with the new iPhone though.

You do realize that the problem exists only when it interferes with the operation / normal use of the device. It's a status bar and I give less then two rips how it looks. Hence, I have zero concerns.

About every company who wants to sell products in Europe?

I've been there a few times but have never known this. Will be visiting again, and in multiple countries. So I can go buy a Chanel bag and essentially "rent" it for my trip at $0? :)

Or if you're sticking with tech only (I wasn't sure if it's consumer products in general or tech only) can I buy an electric bike to ride around and return it for full refund?

Why would anyone ever rent anything in Europe besides housing :)

Funny, because I think it looks better, and more... composed... on the left. Like I'm holding a proper screen. The right just looks like a screen with ugly bezels. But clearly to each his own!

And every time something comes out, it's "Steve Jobs would have NEVER let this happen" blah blah. Someone needs to create a list of all the outlandish decisions Steve Jobs made and post them here to remind people that Jobs was not perfect. A visionary? Absolutely. But far from perfect.

Looks or not, what benefit do they serve? Right now we are looking at a myriad of potential issues for future apps, current apps; especially in landscape mode, and a host of other issues. At best they artificially inflate the stated screen size.
Not saying it is wrong. However I have yet to see or hear anything explaining why this design is "right". Based on what I know, this is a "marketing gimmick".

I know, I said it “looks” like

And? My office looks like my basement ... Oh Wait! It is my basement

Not disagreeing with you. Just not seeing what was your point other than trying to be hurtful.

What a buffoon, some random moron on YouTube makes a 40 minute video about how he's smarter than the team that designs iPhone? What has he designed, oh NOTHING.

The X design is as close to perfect as you'll ever see.

Here's your sign.

I think it definitely looks ridiculous in landscape mode. I personally don't mind it in portrait mode. I hope Apple fixes this in future software updates. A simple fix is to just crop out the sides and make it look like the Galaxy or LG phones only when in landscape mode

One of my major issue is the top right corner swipe down for control centre. A lazy & terrible solution for such a tall device. The software for X overall seems to be unfinished to me. I hope they use the time between now and the launch to listen to all the feedbacks and improves the UI issues

Chris may be annoying, but he's bang on. The X was rushed and I personally won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Lol this just about sums it up!
[doublepost=1505506473][/doublepost]This guy takes complaining to a whole new level, but the thing about these types of people are, they're generally right.

I haven't watched this guy in years, but I remember when I watched his videos like 7 years ago, he was always spot on then too.

.............I bought my Note 8 from Verizon and it is currently covered under a 30 day return policy for some reason, any other smart phone you buy from them has a two week return policy...as does Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc... Samsung offers a two week return policy bought directly from them, HTC has a 30 day return policy, etc...

So basically most other companies offer at least a two week return policy.

It applies to consumer products in general but there are exceptions:
- You can't return hygienically questionable products (e.g. headphones if you've used them)
- Things like music or books where the main value lies in the intellectual property that you could've copied
- Custom made products
- If you've damaged the product. Unboxing it, trying it out, using it etc. is fine, but if you somehow put a scratch in it, it's your's for good

He's irrelevant.

The complaint is irrelevant too. Buy it or wait a cycle or buy something else.

Honestly after a day with that phone, I doubt I'd notice it any more. I'm not a fan of the whole no-bezel thing anyway with these devices so I could not care less if there's a notch in the top of the display area. They could put a matching one at the bottom and call it a feature. The one is apparently already a feature, so... asymmetry, it's the next gotta-have thing.

This all rings out with about as much importance to me as when someone commented that Apple's own case for the iPhone 5C, the one with the dot cutouts on the back, did something weird to how the Apple inscription showed up on the back of that phone. I'm like yeah, good, I spend so much time peering through dots on the back of my iPhone case, pass the hot sauce please. Meanwhile for assorted reasons although I like the X a lot, I am sticking with my SE for another round.

Exactly. I have no idea myself. One is a samsung and one is an LG. I think that's Apple's point, they didn't want the X to look like every other "bezel-less" (but still has top and bottom bezels) phone.

I mean, look at this. I couldn't even tell you which phone is which:

lg-v30-render-galaxy-s8-klg-g6.jpg

And I could also not care less who owns which smartphone. Even the not very smart phones look like smartphones now... Who has all this free time to be looking at other people's phones anyway? This isn't even a first world problem, this is a consumerist obsession. I wonder what the rehabs are like. :D

My reason to get an X next time around is same reason I usually upgrade gear. I don't want to get too far behind the curve with my main gear. I don't mind having a 4S upstairs on audiobook duty. For what I read today's news with and run today's apps with, I like to know I'm well inside the supported range on the hardware. So every couple or three years is good enough for me.

As I've said in other threads, I'm seriously fried at Apple now over some of the iTunes 12.7 issues, but as far as the iOS releases lately go, and their base iOS apps, including what I understand of iOS 11, I see improvement each time out the box, especially with the music app iterations, so I'm not bailing out of their smartphone queues or their overall ecosystem. That's despite my reservations about some of their ironfistedness on making you check in to verify periodically (usually when least convenient) that it's still you playing their download AM tracks and the movies you bought or rented...
