I went to the Apple Store to try out the iPad pro. I really wanted it to work since I'm kind of devoted to the Apple ecosystem. However, two major flaws on the iPad pro compared to the surface - no kickstand and bad keyboard.

The iPad pro is just to big and heavy to hold. Without a case, it can't stand on its on.

And the keyboard is way below the type cover. No real key travel and I have to say it looks uninspiring to me personally. The type cover finally won me over because I plan to do a lot of typing, writing reports, emails etc.

723 grams for the iPad Pro with LTE
786 grams for the Surface Pro 4.

Makes any claims that the iPad Pro is too big and too heavy, but the SP4 is just fine, seem specious at best, rampant fanboyism and trolling more probable.

I am a strong believer that iPad Pro is limiting, and definitely not a laptop replacement. Hence, many people are better served by laptops than iPads (Pro or not). However, I must say, your argument of "two major flaws" was the least convincing I've seen. You are switching over to a completely different platform, one that you don't prefer, all for the stupid kick stand and keyboard?

Many people use iPad Air happily for writing with a nice case and keyboard. We are almost certain that these accessories will come soon for the iPad Pro. As I said, iPad Pro has many limitations, but the lack of accessories, given time, will NOT be one.

After 1 year, even the speed of ipad air will win your surface pro 4. Mircosoft? yeah, it works good in the first half year, then after few updates....we all knew that...

LOL. My SP3 is considerably better today in speed, function, and battery life than it was when I bought it a year ago. Apple is the one primarily responsible for slowing down old hardware with software updates these days.

Agree.

And not just accessories, but more importantly increased functionality from further updates to iOS and 'pro' level apps no doubt coming down the pipeline to both take advantage of the iPP's more than capable hardware.

Your personal opinion that you do not need a windows device does not make it the "right" buying decision. Maybe the buyer wants to run desktop apps or play PC games that are not available on an iOS/OS device while having something portable?
Buying Windows never right choice.

I run Windows in a Virtual Machine on my Mac for any necessities.

I don't know how anyone is going to regularly use the Smart Keyboard with the iPad Pro. I tried it last night and it's terrible. Spacing is large, key size is small. I found myself focusing too much on the keyboard to be comfortable using it. Could I get used to it? Sure. But would I want to and enjoy using it? No.

Do you use an Apple keyboard regularly?

Funny, but my "old" iPad mini 2 that originally shipped with iOS 7 and is now running iOS 9.1 hasn't slowed down any at all after 2 years worth of updates. That's precisely why I haven't yet upgraded it to a newer model because it hasn't been necessary....

Here's from an open minded Mac user and pro artist:
That's from a year-and-a-half ago, referring to a SP3, long before the release of the iPad Pro and Pencil. What is the relevance?

EDIT: Here's the bottom line for me: why do we even need to debate the relative merits of either the iPad Pro or the various Microsoft offerings? Each have their pluses and minuses, and each appeal to a different set of users. We don't need to be approaching each other with vitriol or animosity towards "the other team". Like what you like, buy what you want, and let others enjoy what they want.

Really, it's getting kind of silly in here.

What a bunch of childish Apple fanboy rude posts. I hope this whole thread gets nuked. Pretty classic overcompensation by fanboys who know this is a half baked rushed product by Apple. Waiting for pencil threads, you can't make this stuff up✍ I went just to Apple Store to look and thought the screen on the iPad Pro was dim compared to my Air 2. Most apps looked silly because of not being updated for screen.

That's why kickstand is so important. They are both heavy but with the kickstand you don't have to hold it when using. And unlike the Smart Cover for the iPad, you can adjust angles.

If you install hundreds of app into surface pro like in ipad air, then you will know what I mean...
iOS has better app selections. But with Windows, I don't need a gazillion of apps to perform simple tasks.

I have not physically tested a Surface Pro device, and don't need to in order to make the right buying decision.

It runs Windows. /story
Hating on Microsoft based on stereotypes. Exactly what I'm talking about lol

Relevance is it's the starting point of a series of videos. You just have view the follow up videos. Was also a reply to another person who said Microsoft stops improving the product when in reality the previous Surface Pro 3 has seen a lot of improvements and even work with the new Type Cover keyboard and Pen (does the smart keyboard and pencil work with previous iPad Air 2?). Looking forward to his upcoming video comparison of iPP and pencil. In a nutshell, he's a Mac user and pro artist that has replaced his Wacom Cintiq with Surface Pro 3 and doesn't think iPads with any stylus is sufficiently accurate and usable.

Given the buggy state that MS launches their hardware and software, I believe this.

Before returning the iPP maybe consider using it as a slave for SP4.
