Oh no I don’t like this at all. Apple products are tools like any other. They’re cool tools that I enjoy using them, but I’m not thankful for them.

This feels like some real cult-of-apple stuff.
you can’t be thankful for a tool? is there some law or rule about this? I’m lost.

anywho…

I’m very thankful for my iPhone. I knew once it was revealed that it was a game changer. June 29, 2007 I became an owner and never looked back.

Be careful what you wish for. The early days of graphic design on computers sucked because graphics power was so very, very lame, even on the "wicked fast" IIfx. One would take an action then wait for _minutes_ to see what happened. Such slow response times were not conducive to learning.
I do remember the old Macs at my high school. I don't know what they were beige monsters, they had CD drives, but they took minutes to boot up, apps took minutes to boot up. Occasionally the CD drives would make a terrible noise and spit out your CD with a huge scratch in it. There was one new current generation G4 Mac in the computer lab and people would fight over it.

I paid my hard earned £££££s for the devices ,I’d be thankful if they were gifts. You don’t get a tinnie winnie gift from Apple but extortionate prices 😗

This is actually a good thing. Without it, Apple products would just be not as good.

If I had to pick a hardware product, I’m torn between the iPhone and the Mac. I would have to say the iPhone because that’s the one that gets most used by me.

It’s sad, but not surprising to see him so many bitter comments here. You can be thankful for something you purchased. Thankful means you appreciate having it regardless of how are you acquired it. I’m thankful for modern medicine regardless of the cost. I’m thankful for having electricity, and running water even though I have to pay for it. There are a lot of people without electricity and running water even today.

It’s Thanksgiving and people should be more thankful rather than feeling like they’re entitled to or owed something.
A lot of petulant children these days. What we need is a good old fashioned trench war.

I run my own company, that does a mix of consulting, sales, IT, digital media - my M1 MBP, AW6, iPhone 13 Mini and AirPods Pros are definitely valuable tools to help me achieve the goal of providing for my family. It's amazing what I can achieve with just those 4 pieces of hardware.

I'm also thankful for my notepad and pen ;)
It's interesting you don't have an iPad. I too don't intend to replace my iPad Air 2 once it dies. But I'm curious about your AW6 and the AirPods.

Did you get the cellular AW6 ? What do you use the AW6 and AirPods for, work-wise ?

This feels like a topic that should have had a poll…

I think the iPhone. The internet in your pocket, maps and position, phone, apps, text chat, calendar, contacts, music, it’s the perfect “pocket” device. If I had to choose one it would be the iPhone.

Second would be the Mac, mouse and keyboard just remains the best way to get work done.

Did you invest in any AppleCare purchases ? I just got it for my M1 iMac. From my limited experience, it's been worthwhile, particularly since it is transferable to the next owner.

Totally agree. It’s like saying you’re thankful for a set of Snap On spanners.
I bought a mountain bike when I was 16. It wasn't the best bike in the world, it was heavy and a bit crap really. But that bike got me into a world of cycling, which has helped keep me fit and healthy for several decades now. And it's helped me to travel further, to see more of my world. So I'm thankful for that bike, probably more than any other single material object I've ever owned.

I'd really like some Snap On spanners...

*Thankful* for? That's not easy at first thought but.. Then it kinda hit me.

Probably the iPhone 6 Plus. It had the movement chip in it. That's when I started noticing things like steps and flights of stairs.

Then I discovered a number of other things simultaneously. There was this thing called "Couch-to-5K". They ran races through Disney parks. They gave medals for finishing races.

This got me off the couch. I ran my first race in 2016. For someone who was born crippled (long since fixed) and was pretty much a couch potato for 50 years, this was nothing short of a miracle. In 2018, I ran the Dopey Challenge - 4 races, 4 days - 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon (to date, the only marathon I've ever run).

I have a wall full of medals and two drawers full of finisher shirts. I have definition in my legs muscles and I actually have *visible* *calf* *muscles* whereas I had next to no calves before. I've dropped weight. I've gotten healthier.

I've run 17 half marathons now - my fastest being a few weeks ago at the age of *60* - and I'm running another one on Sunday.

And you bet your bottom dollar I bought the Watch when it came out. It's only helped reinforce keeping me moving. I had the Series 0, then 3 and now 5. The battery life is starting to wane a bit on my 5 so I might take advantage of the current sales and get myself an Ultra.

This life-long couch potato of a software developer and architect *runs* and I now get angry when I don't. I have a *treadmill* for crying out loud and it gets *used* - it's NOT a clothes hangar!

Apple opened that door. It started with the 6 Plus and was cemented with the Watch. I enjoy all the other Apple products I have as I've gradually moved over from Windows. The iPod was first. Then the iPhone 4s. Now we have 2 Macs, 3 iPads, 2 Watches, 2 Air Pod Pros and while my wife is still on her iPhone X, I've got the 12 Pro Max. Like I said - I enjoy them all.. But what started with the 6 Plus and continued with the Watch(es)? That's actually extending my life and my kids have noticed. My wife has noticed.

It's ironic that the very thing that kept me on the couch (technology) has now been so instrumental in getting me off of it.

Now we start thanking God for Apple products?
Does it really matter to whom the thanks is given? For those who believe in God, it is entirely appropriate to see tools, technology, food, shelter, relationships, etc., at least in some way as bestowed gifts. But even if you don’t believe in a God or a god, does it mean that gratitude is not valuable?

Current products:
The Apple Silicon based Mac Pro…oh wait.
The MacBook Pro M2 Pro…oh wait.
The iPad Air M2…crap.
Um, the Mac Mini with a reasonable amount of ports…nope.
Um, the headphone…dang it.

I do love the 16” MacBook Pro, and I’m grateful the 14” is basically just a smaller version of it. The M2 Air is a great computer as well.

Overall, the best Apple products are the Mac family as a whole, and the classic iPods, followed by the iPhone. My personal favorite is the iPod. It offered the best personal experience with an electronic device.
