It's too bad Siri can't turn down the brightness, or turn off / on the wifi, activate dnd, etc.

Yeah, Siri should be a maid, nanny etc too. Add wash the laundry, watch the kids, scratch my back etc. :D

Okay, she is an assistant / secretary and an intelligent friend who will google etc / research the answers for you.

- Letting her setting the alarm is going to be the most useful to me as I set it on different time everyday.
- Then text messaging & calls.
- Weather; Restaurant; Concerts; Euro Sports

Can she read out loud my emails to me? hehe

I use it to make my grocery list. I have a list in reminders called “Grocery List,” and as I realize I need things I’ll say “Add milk to my grocery list,” and then Siri replies, “Ok, I’ve added it to your grocery list.”

Very useful.

Awesome! I didn't know you can have different reminder lists.

I thought Siri would be useless for me until I found out I could set reminders and calendar events faster with Siri than typing them in. I do this every morning before leaving for work. Productivity is up.

I guess Siri would be useful for people who are driving and where it would be distracting/dangerous to start tapping on your phone. However, I've yet to see a single person talk to Siri while on the sidewalk or subway since that feature came out.

My friends who have Siri don't use Siri because "it's too hard to use". One friend didn't even know what Siri was and was completely blown away when I demoed it. Most people live under their own rocks.

Not perfect but she is pretty fast too beating her opponents / clones in Google & S Voice in many independent tests.

I named a reminder "Grocery List" and then asked Siri "to add to Gorcery List reminder" and she responded that I do not have a Grocery List in reminders...

EDIT: ok, I now realize I must title a "List" "Grocery List" and not a "reminder"...:D

Read abd Send text while I drive
Set reminders
Check weather
Turn on and off alarms

I find it stupid when people want to see your phone just to ask Siri stupid questions. It was a little funny a year ago to see what she would say, but that lost its allure a long time ago.

Set a timer for x minutes.

Wake me up at 7AM.

Where is the closest ...(store or restaurant.)

Call ...

Send a text to ... saying ...

I tried sports scores, but for some reason they had not updated with the games from the previous week. So then I stopped using it.

That covers the majority of its use. The main issue is when data is slow, or the servers are slow to respond, and instead of waiting I could have just found the info elsewhere on the phone without using siri.

But it has been improving, slowly.

I'm starting to think setting reminders with Siri will be better and easier to remind me of homework assignments than using some of my dedicated apps like iStudiez Pro. I definitely need to start utilizing her more in general because it would make a lot of the things I do on my phone a lot quicker.

Set reminders, make calls and change music tracks while driving.

Mainly only use it outside of driving if it saves me a lot of time, like setting an alarm.

I asked Siri the weather and she thought I was in New York, TX (even though when I asked her where am I she responded correctly with New York, NY) - how can I correct her?

I manually created a "Grocery List" in the Reminders app first. Then you can tell Siri to add to it whenever you like.

I never used Siri prior to iOS 6. However, since I updated, I have used her to ask about times of future sporting events or to compose and send a text, or if I want to set my alarm to take a nap, I'll use her for that as well.

What I don't like about it is that if I have the phone in my pocket and use Siri through the headset and ask it something, it will frequently get touch feedback in my pocket and cancel the request before it is complete. I also don't like that if its in my pocket and I ask it to play a certain song through the headset, it will stay unlocked in my pocket after the request, so ill have to take my phone out of my pocket and lock it.

If you set it so that Siri will work with the iPhone locked, you don't need to worry about that.

yeah, that worked for me last night, but now she won't send any messages, create any reminders, or play any music! anyone have any ideas why she won't do those things now?

That happened to me the other day. Force close all apps, then do a hard reboot (hold the sleep/wake and home button until the Apple logo appears). Fixed it right quick for me.

I use siri all the time whether driving ot not. The more you use her the more you realize that if used correctly you can save alot of time.

Oh I forgot you can do movies too. I said "when does Looper come out?" and she told me.

Same for times, ask what time a movie is playing and you'll get a list and a bunch of info about the movie (trailer, RottenTomaties rating, etc).

Didn't work very well for Dredd 3D though... she kept thinking I was saying "Dread", which is a different movie apparently, haha. I said "what time is Dredd 3D playing tonight?" and she said "here are all of the 3D movies playing tonight" or something like that.

I'd guess it works better with movies that have more distinct titles.

... if Siri stumbles on what you say, just tap on the text and edit where Siri went wrong. Siri will then search again and in time will "learn" your voice.

This was probably the greatest tip that I learned when first starting to use Siri when I got my 4S.

Stopped using it because it wasn't much cop (good) but it's much better now ...

Spanish just became available (19th) but I was using it in English to do simple tasks like creating events on my calendar/reminders, setting alarm clocks, timers, searching on the web... Now that I got spanish available I use it to send messages too.

Pretty useful. It's faster than manually creating a reminder or setting an alarm for example.

Oh that is interesting. Siri doesn't seem to like me much and I wasn't sure how to get it to understand me.

you can also do this with notes. "Add Note 'shopping list' " or "add ____ to my shopping list note".

My degree (German and Spanish) starts next week and after experimenting I have found that Siri can give you translations to words, without having to open up a web page.

Ask Siri for example: "what is the Spanish word for party" and it will give you not only the obvious "siesta" (as in a party with music - ie, entertainment) but also "grupo" (a party of people), "partido" (a political party), and "celebrar" (a celebration).

This will come in so handy ...

This is a great tip! Thanks :D
