I think Siri maybe racist on the white iPhone :)

How do I get Siri to recognize certain places by certain names? For example, can I ask for directions to work?

I named a reminder "Grocery List" and then asked Siri "to add to Gorcery List reminder" and she responded that I do not have a Grocery List in reminders...

EDIT: ok, I now realize I must title a "List" "Grocery List" and not a "reminder"...:D

My list is just called "shopping" and I say "add milk to my shopping list" and Siri understands that. That's a useful feature I love. If only I'd remember to check the list when I go to the store :p

- I believe this works based on contact information. So if you put your work address into your own contact information, Siri will understand that that address is where you work.

Can I say "remind me to call mom when I get home" and get that reminder to show up when I arrive home?

Can I say "remind me to call mom when I get home" and get that reminder to show up when I arrive home?

Absolutely. You just need to first tell Siri who your mom is and what home is. Unless your contact is already named mom. And it might automatically ask where your work is the first time off. I think it pulls up your contact card.

The only non-gimmicky actually useful thing siri does is set timers.

"Hi Siri! Remind me to take the bacon out in 15 minutes." :)

Doesn't that actually set a reminder? I usually just say "Set the timer for 15 minutes".

Productive...fine. While I'm driving I ask Siri to play particular songs for me. "Siri play (song name)." I have my phone connected via Bluetooth and I feel much safer doing that than searching through my phone for songs while I'm driving.

When the iPhone is connected via Bluetooth to a car, do you still need to activate Sire via the Home button or can you use the in car controls?

It's 2 different things to the same end.
Your way will set the timer in the clock app.
The other way will create a reminder in the reminder app.

Can someone explain the geofence thing to me? Is there a way to be reminded of a whole list when you get somewhere? Or just specific things? Also when having Siri set the reminder does the place have to be in your contacts? Can I say remind me to get batteries when I get to Walmart?

I said "remind me to call mom when i get home", and Siri is telling me calendar services, which keep track of your reminders, doesn't allow location bases services. Am I overlooking something in my settings?

Right, but one will just set off an alarm while the other will create an object in my Reminders that requires a check off. I don't need to check off that I took the bacon out (of the oven??)

I am sure i will be corrected.

Yes the place does need to be in contacts, this use the iOS reminder app.

From what i have read here it sounds like you need to create a new reminder list (im going to create one for Kroger), then tell Siri to add items to it.

I will add the kroger i shop at in my contact list so i can tell Siri to remind me when i arrive there.

I figured out my problem. I had to turn off reminders on my exchange account. Works great now

Siri not only does sport scores, but can tell you the next game, show you the whole schedule and show you league and conference rankings. For my Cardinals it happens to be first for both.

Siri can also tell you how many days to a specific event and do math and conversion equations using wolfram alpha.
