I use it a lot for work, we have a racking system, where lots of different things are placed on shelves, so instead of me typing them out, I just ask siri to 'take a note' followed by reading them all out. I'd say 8/10 Siri gets right. Some of things things I might actually be pronouncing wrong!

That and reminders/setting alarms. I work nightshift and like to get a few hours sleep before work, so just incase I oversleep I hold the button down and go "Siri, wake me up at 10" in a real pretentious way ;)

I use it to make my grocery list. I have a list in reminders called “Grocery List,” and as I realize I need things I’ll say “Add milk to my grocery list,” and then Siri replies, “Ok, I’ve added it to your grocery list.”

Very useful.

Nice one, Mike!

Had a go at this a while back but I didn't realise I had to actually create a new "list" to get it to work.

I was trying to do it with a "shopping list" as a reminder!

Now that I've created a whole new list, called "shopping list" it works superbly.

This, will be so handy ...

Thanks!

I named a reminder "Grocery List" and then asked Siri "to add to Gorcery List reminder" and she responded that I do not have a Grocery List in reminders...

EDIT: ok, I now realize I must title a "List" "Grocery List" and not a "reminder"...:D

Never mind. I got it to work with notes. Too bad it can't delete an item contained in a note

I ask Siri "Display non-OCD, unbiased, complaint free posts from macrumors.com".

Unfortunately, her response is always the same, "I'm sorry. I was unable to find anything for you".

;)

Bit off the mark

Lol

I don't shop for groceries, maybe it's time once I pick up my iP5 :D, thanks.

Great idea, i can create one for each store I shop at, then use the Geo Fence to make it remind me of the list I created when I am there. So much for my GroceryiQ app

My degree (German and Spanish) starts next week and after experimenting I have found that Siri can give you translations to words, without having to open up a web page.

Ask Siri for example: "what is the Spanish word for party" and it will give you not only the obvious "siesta"

Errmm, you probably mean "fiesta". Siesta means "nap".

I've been asking her to send texts, and for sports schedules/scores. Nails those things every time so far.

I use her*, quite a bit, now that I've gotten into the habit.

I guess Siri would be useful for people who are driving and where it would be distracting/dangerous to start tapping on your phone. However, I've yet to see a single person talk to Siri while on the sidewalk or subway since that feature came out.
I use Siri in public, but you can't tell, as it looks like I'm simply talking on the phone.

Oh, that's a great idea! I like Grocery IQ, but I'm going to try this and see if I like it better.

* yes, I know, but I prefer to anthropomorphize it, thanks

Before I had Siri, and when I first got the iPhone I thought Siri was a bit of a waste of time. After all, actually pressing the touch screen is much faster than telling Siri to do it...BUT, then I realised the magic of driving with headphones in, and being able to get Siri to do everything for me whilst my phone is still in my pocket

Now I love Siri! I get it to type messages or call people mainly

Siri is the only way to set custom reminders as well

And I believe the only way to set a calendar event that isn't in the 5 minute incremental category. ie 5:37pm appointment etc.
