If MacBook Air is still alive, it should be about £500
If Mac Mini is still alive, give it a spec for 2018 not 2008
If Mac Pro appears this year, please don’t make it thin, make it badass

And when I ask Siri to open my email, perhaps show me my email rather than searching the internet for recipes using broccoli...

A new upgradeable mac mini
a slowing of the annual iOS and MacOS releases, to include no more "new capabilities". Fix what you have already given us and flatten out the learning curves.
This. And a Mac Pro that starts under $2,500 and has user upgradeable RAM, GPU and CPU. And a Mac Mini that does the same. And the revival of Aperture. And fix iMessages, which is buggy as hell under iOS 11. And a Macbook Air with a 4K screen and retain all the f_____g ports. Stop worrying about door gaps in your new headquarters Apple, and get your **** together.

1) A 2018 model of the iPhone X with a 4" (or better a 3.5") screen.
2) Bring back skeuomorphic and 3D look to MacOS and iOS.
3) Touch screen input option on Macs.
4) External pointing device (mouse, trackpad, etc.) input option for iOS.
5) 3D touch, Pencil, shared user file storage, split screen, etc. standardized across all iOS devices.
6) Keep the iPad mini & Mac mini.
7) Dual Thunderbolt ports on AppleTV with input and pass through capability to act as a hub for connecting and controlling other devices and overlaying onto the video display from other devices.
8) More iOS capability in TVOS, especially web browser, email, iMessages, phone, etc.
9) Phone app on iPad.
10) An Apple web search engine to compete with Google.
Yes. Especially # 4 - External pointing device (mouse, trackpad, etc.) input option for iOS.

In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

Seems to me that Apple needs to start a crash program to bring out a new and much improved Siri. The Web is chock full of negative comments and unfavorable comparisons with Alexa and other virtual personal assistants, and Lord knows I could write a lot about bad experiences I have had with it. Why is this important? Well, for a lot of reasons and here's one. The quality of Siri does a certain amount to help or harm the sales of any relevant Apple product, but never has this been more true than of the forthcoming HomePod since Siri is so central to its operation. If Apple wants to sell a lot of these it needs to fix Siri, otherwise the HomePod could easily turn out to be a disaster.

Also, it's time to fish or cut bait with the Mac mini. And abandoning it would mean kissing goodbye to what at one time was a major Apple market, K-12 education.

Change “hey siri” to just “siri”.

Frankly I want to name my voice assistant to what ever I want! I could see a duality here. "Hey Siri" for the open assistant and "Hey Mary' for my personal assistant! A true working DID Sybil!

Isn't innovation what we pay the brand for ?
But since we are at it :
- LOWER OUT OF WARRANTY FEES

I’d like Apple to think BIG again

1. Disrupt telecom with affordable, sat technology allowing for wireless access anywhere in the world

2. Give iPad more input controls and make them from 10” to 30”, making it the ultimate creative platform. Also, shift engineering talent and resources to iOS/iPad and start sunsetting the Mac so I no longer need to carry 2 devices and the company can become more focused

3. More bio sensor(s) on AW4

4. Use sat tech to provide real time street level updates

5. Set Siri free - it should be viewed as a platform I can use anywhere... home, car, ATM’s, kiosks, etc.

6. Get back into advertising. With the most coveted demographics anywhere, there’s no reason why Apple couldn’t monetize it and hit Google where it hurts while using ad dollars to provide cheaper/free services while also championing privacy

7. Make Apple Pay more ubiquitous and use blockchain and cryptocurrency to create a new universal digital currency, disrupting banks/finance
I’m not sure about some of your details but I like your sentiment.

I happen to own the 2016 13" w/Touch Bar model. There's nothing wrong with it. What do you want to see changed?
Glad you like the new model. I own a late 2013 13" MacBook Pro, and I'd be happy with the exact same chassis with just upgraded specs:
  • Latest CPU
  • More RAM
  • Larger storage
  • Fresh capacity battery
I don't like the changes in the new MacBook Pros. I know many do like them such as yourself and maybe if I owned one myself I'd change my mind, but this is what I don't like and why I think the new MBP models are worse in a few key ways than the older MBP models (echoing the sentiments of many others on this forum):
  • Lack of ports: I would like at least one USB-A port since you can't charge any iPhone (even this year's models!) without purchasing an adapter or extra cable. I have various USB thumb drives and other peripherals that charge via USB-A too, and I don't want to purchase or carry around annoying dongles or adapters just to use them. If this necessitates a thicker MBP, so be it--it was thin enough before.
  • Touch Bar: I want keys that I can physically touch and feel--I look at the screen, not the keyboard. Maybe others love it, but to me this seems like a solution in search of a problem. Touch Bar would've been better received IMHO if it was positioned either between the space bar and track pad or above the still-kept function row. Would've been better if the Touch Bar also had haptic feedback as well.
  • Keyboard: I didn't like it when I tried one out at the Apple Store. Felt too stiff and was noisy. Admittedly, I would probably get used to its feel as I've used various keyboards over the years, but I'd still prefer a softer and quieter keyboard like my older MBP.
  • No MagSafe: MagSafe seems to me like an iconic feature that differentiates a MBP from any other PC laptop, and I was surprised to see it removed. A small thing to be sure, but it just feels right to snap in the magnetic charger. Imagine if the next Apple Watch had a USB-C port to charge and had its magnetic charging removed--would be a step backward!
I know having the same old boring design doesn't make the news like being able to advertise these bigger changes, but the same old design is the one that I would actually buy. I was planning on buying a new MBP and handing down my old MBP to my daughter, but for the above reasons decided to just buy her a MacBook Air, which still has MagSafe, USB-A, etc. I'll be hanging onto my old MBP as long as possible instead and might look into just going the Hackintosh route when I finally decide to upgrade.

I agree Apple needs to triple down on Siri! They need to do a lot of catch up!
- Apple's CarPlay needs to be imbedded into car not an add-on and CarPlay Siri should allow the driver to control as much as one would need driving. Like temp, fan defrost and other basic things that would take your eyes off the road. Know who you are and what your seat, mirror and other settings you want as the driver or even as the passenger! If you are known to the car.
- iPhone & iPad knowing me from anyone else and having the ability to chain a question or a command.
- AppleWatch understand the realm of its use. When I'm with my phone I want to stream from its music, when I'm out on a run then what it offers. When I'm with my iPad or Mac system (running) it knows thats the source.
- MacOS devices full integration
- Smart Home integration

Lastly, there are more mini's out there then in the schools!

So I'm not sure that killing it is the right answer. Apple has created a bit of a Gordon Knot problem as no one is at the helm with any clear vision. While Jonny was distracted with the building I still think his vision is dated and short sighted. I was hoping someone from the ranks was going to step up and take the bull by the horns no one appears to be leading the design or the R&D aspect.

All I need is a 13'' MacBook Pro with one of the newly-announced integrated AMD GPUs that has actual pro-level benchmarks. I deeply miss having decent graphics performance in the 13'' form factor.

1. Apps which don’t slow down with iOS updates. My iPad has slowed down since I purchased it just for web browsing. I don’t buy a new one if this is what I expect for new versions.
2. Typing on iPhone and iPad which don’t lag by one or two seconds. My 1.8MHz TRS-80 Model II was faster for typing.
3. Photos is the primary purpose of owning an iMac for us. Finally Photos is halfway decent. But with 50,000 photos across many drives and backups need a way to merge everything into one photo library and remove duplicates and screen by quality (auto remove thumbnails) and separate out out of focus into album to delete. Need timeline for kids photos from baby to adult. Need pets added to “People” or “Faces”.
3. Shelf for iMac in back for backup drives.
4. Reduced number of Mac models and increased base storage and RAM. Laptop portfolio has run amuck. We bought two PC desktops this year due to poor value offering from Apple. I’ve bought 4 laptops before this, an iMac, and 6-iPhones, and 3 iPads. Purchase rate is dropping due to dropping performance value relative to others recently and confusing portfolio.

An *expandable* MacBook Pro with a useful set of ports. I'm all for USB-C but old-school USB, SD, HDMI, and MagSafe are all useful (and can be used at once without overloading the bandwidth necessary for USB-C).

Expandable means I can add my own RAM and spinning (high capacity and cheap) storage.

Carrying around dongles, hubs, and external drives defeats the point of a pro laptop - this stuff should be built in.

Oh, and a keyboard that doesn't break due to dust.

1. The return of an intuitive iOS UI that doesn't look like a contest winner to see who can use the least pixels & contrast, to once again use my iPad/iPhone without having to guess as often as well as press/swipe 3x for what used to be accomplished in 1 action, and also that all the lemmings designers of the world will again follow Apple and stop with the additionally unintuitive website designs.

2. "Truly good, balanced design" in Apple hardware. Serviceable/upgradeable memory, storage, batteries. Phones that aren't designed to shatter with 95% certainty within the first 3 inevitable drops.

3. The return of lickable buttons in OSX, including an OSX that looks like Apple designed it and not Microsoft.

Wouldn't that be nice? :)
