The only thing I wish for is that Apple finally discontinues iTunes and just releases the TV app plus a Music app (may as well called Apple Music) on macOS so that we are finally getting a streamlined user experience between all platforms.
As a German I was lucky to get the TV app some weeks ago and I somehow start to enjoy it on my iPad and iPhone. I have already queued up some TV shows and films in the Watch next area and when I'm at my Mac and want to access that list, I suddenly realize that there is no such thing as a TV app on macOS. It's really annoying!

2018 could finally be the year that we bury iTunes. Apple has already paved the way for that with the last big update when they reduced the functionality a little bit already to focus on the core ability to play back music, films and TV shows. And now they only need to split that up into the two before mentioned apps. Both built using Swift and their latest technologies in mind. :)

---

Furthermore, I have the opinion that macOS in general is due to a big make over. I'm not talking about dumbing down the OS feature wise to bring it more on par with iOS, I just wished both operating systems would share one design language. When I open the settings panel on macOS for example, I find it quite outdated looking and also a bit weird to navigate. Wouldn't it be cool we get the same look as on the iPad for example? Even with those toggles known from iOS? Again, I'm in no way talking about porting iOS to a bigger screen. I just want the overall user experience to get unified. Plus I'd love that Apple would finally give the Mac a bit more love, for all these years it seems to me that macOS is like the poor step sister of iOS that nobody likes.

  1. Bigger notch on the X Plus just to annoy more people
  2. Tease about bringing back Touch ID and the headphone jack (only to pull back and anger even more people)
  3. Roll out of automated cars (to hear more people complain about how Apple's focus is somewhere else)
  4. And finally, ZERO bugs on future release of iOS software (never gonna happen)
Seriously though, I think it will be an exciting year for Apple to prove to people that they can still provide great products.

The adoption of Thunderbolt 4 across the board to solve the bandwidth throttling for eGPUs.

I have no idea when the standard will be released though.

In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

[doublepost=1514841217][/doublepost]A new Mac mini would be very nice....

Not going to happen... Apple has exited the networking business and are just milking money out of whomever will still buy their outdated stuff. Do yourself a favor and sell your Airport gear while it still has used market value and buy a mesh system... they are so much better.

What Apple seems to fail to realise is that the value in the brand is in large part down to the ecosystem that makes it so easy for everything to integrate and the Apple shop being a one-stop shop for all your computing needs, of which Wi-Fi is a very important part.

Instead, under Cook, they now seem happy to neglect or kill off products that aren’t profitable enough for them. AirPort Express, Mac Mini, Cinema Display, Mac Pro (for a long time) etc etc. Probably others I’m forgetting right now.

I love the little Airport Express for its ease of use and AirPlay streaming but lately I can’t get a reliable audio stream without frequent pauses and breaks so I’m looking at other music streamers. It used to be very reliable before iOS 11 and nothing else has changed in my setup or location.

Yes totally agree. They’re in danger of killing off the golden goose by neglecting the eco system

I would like Apple to be Apple again, with products that “just work”. A profound Pro-line that is upgradable, and better priced for value. They have lost their magic and felt down being a regular company with regular products, so it time to price their products equivalently.

I honestly have difficulty understanding what they think is there to gain by e.g. not upgrading the Mini or Pro immediately, being one of the richest companies selling outdated technology for cutting edge prices. This will come down on them this year, they are not doomed but will get a serious hit. If they can not converge their phones and iPads this year either to equivalent and consistent technology and interfaces they are in trouble is my guess... if you do not deliver you can’t live up to promises forever :(.

Ios that actually make full of iPhone x power and no more lag plz and icloud messaging

What about the ports? What about the keyboard? What about charge connection? What about the battery? What about the ram? What about the SSD?

Sorry but what a useless comment that was...

I think he's disgusted with what he bought! He may have had no choice. He wants a unibody system with todays CPU's, RAM, storage & screen (serviceable).

Update the Airport Express. If Apple is going to continue selling it as ‘new’, then it should support 802.11ac like most (or all) of their other products do.

They disbanded the AirPort group. So what there is it! It was a sad day when they confirmed this. That was over a year ago.

Real MacBook Pro, not this thin and light crap with no ports, no optical out, with easy to replace or at least extend battery and ram. Something we had in 2006, just up the the task in 2018. And i know it will never happen. I do.
It's just so disappointing to see Apple drifting off it's core customers.

Same with the mac Pro and iMac. No stupid USB C to rule them all. This standard will never work and I'm 100% sure it will die painful death soon.
Some really revolutionary feature, like magsafe once was or the isight. But fresh and new, not gimmick like a touch bar.

IPhone at reasonable price point. Say X at 500 euros tops.
Repairability!
Longer battery life even if is twice as thick. I don't care!
