I want continued improvements to the MBP. Unlike many here, I don’t think the 2016/2017 MBPs are evil and kill puppies. But they are really expensive and at those prices compromises should be few and far between (for the given market segment they are serving)

That means above all else I should stop seeing reports of keyboard reliability issues every week. A spec of dust absolutely can’t render a $2000+ laptop’s primary input non-functional in anything but the very rarest of circumstances. I’m totally fine with the feel of the keyboard as long as it is rock solid and reliable.

There really needs to be a 15” MBP option without a touch bar. Or to be more specific, there needs to be any Mac laptop option with more than 2 ports and a physical esc key. I know the esc key can be remapped. But that is not helpful for those who need to switch frequently between different keyboards. The touchbar has simply not proven itself to be worth the trade off for a large segment of users. I don’t need it to disappear. I just need the option. The nTB ports are way too limiting for the typical power user who might desire physical function and esc keys.

That’s really it. I actually genuinely look forward to Apple finding the sweet spot for this latest design direction. They are not there yet, but I think they can get there by just being slightly more flexible in their design vision. (Trying to stay positive!)

I happen to own the 2016 13" w/Touch Bar model. There's nothing wrong with it. What do you want to see changed?
I literally just switched from a 2017 13” MacBook “Escape” to a 2015 15” MacBook Pro, and I’m so much happier. Usable ports, no Touch Bar (I got the 13” for the 2017 model because Apple didn’t offer a sans-TB version) no satanic butterfly keyboard (been using one since the first-gen 12” MB, never got used to it), and a full array of ports that don’t require dongles, docks, or hunting for USB-C peripherals.

Ive’s recent comments suggest he’s been bludgeoned by enough criticism over the recent direction of MacBooks that Apple is probably prepared to release a less user hostile successor—probably not in time for this year, but early next year.

1. Back up iPhone directly to external hard-drive without a hack
2. Increase iCloud free-tier storage size
3. Store Health data in the cloud
4. Store Messages data in the cloud (this is already supposed to be coming)
5. Allow Siri to control Spotify and other third party music services
6. Allow Siri to work with Google Maps and other third party map services
7. Make Mac screen sharing and file sharing work *consistently*
8. Return to selling 2015 13" rMBP

- A new Mac Pro, modular, open to Nvidia and lower price point compared to old one :)
- A magic keyboard with cable (I hate batteries-powered devices and on a desktop it could be useless, and it's less bluetooth waves around which is always better) for everyone, so sold separately from iMac Pro
- A new MacBook Pro with Nvidia at a lower price :)
- A return to matte monitors!!!!! they were way better for many reasons!

A Macbook for the Pro like iMac Pro:

Casing and thermal handling for serious processor and GPU, better battery life to match the competition, 4K display, magsafe, usbc, ethernet, upgradable ram...you know pro staff!!

Ah! One last thing!

Face ID

- Trackpad / Mouse support for iPad Pro
- Get rid of bugs of Continuity. For instance making a call through Siri on a MacBook Pro a lot of times do not work. We need either open FaceTime or the Contacts app.
- Why a separate Call app and FaceTime app, especially if one is using Continuity with a connected iPhone? Its confusing.
- SD Card back to MacBook Pro and at least one USB-B port.
- They need to stop pumping prices up ... well, actually only consumers can stop them. I wonder when they do get fed up of the rising prices if they will come back really. That never really worked well with any other company.
.... lots of other things that don't have time to write about.

I have the 2017 15" MBP. The touch bar is a useless gimmick.

So...

1) Lose the touch bar (or make it inconsequential to the final price).
2) Legacy ports and the card slot need to return. There is no need for more than 2 TB3 ports at this time.
3) 16GB of RAM is borderline for "pro" work. Needs to at least support 32GB. This is my biggest frustration with it.
4) Offer a much better GPU. Preferably from nVidia.
5) Offer a 17" version.
6) A removable battery.

I don't care about thinness. I want a large-display MBP with MagSafe and every port I'm likely to need built-in. I don't care about battery life beyond 5-6 hours. Simply updating the components inside a 2008-era 17" MBP (which was actually "pro" level in performance at the time) would be exactly what I want.

Bonus points if I can use an Apple Pencil on the screen.

Why would we go back to ports when were moving towards a wireless future? Your comment made me throw up in my mouth a little

Most working Pro's are wired not wireless! We have to much stuff to move in and out over WiFi (still too slow). Wired Ethernet is how we work (Besides the issue of security!)

We also use wired USB-A devices they are still the dominant interface not USB-C. Yes, USB-C has a future but thats at least a year or two away. And even then USB-A will still be more dominant. Two USB-A ports is all we need!

MagSafe is a most as well. We tend to trip on the power cord ;-} And no the 3rd party USB-C devices don't cut it. The port needs to be flush with the case not sticking out, or corded.

How about a a return to the older Retina MacBook Pro design Do away with Touchbar and USB-C.

To include Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3 with USB 3.0 and a return to the MagSafe Charger which would negate the need for all the absurd docking stations which are essential to make modern Macs anywhere close to useful.

How about a reintroduction of the 17" MacBook Pro which was a beast of a machine and still one of the finest Macs ever released.

Scrap the MacBook range
and release an updated MacBook Air with Retina Display.

Desperately need a revised Mac Mini which last received a decent update in 2012. At this rate Apple will declare its obsolete before they release a revised Mac Mini.

The 2014 Mac Mini was an insult.

Release a 10.6.9 update for Snow Leopard for those Mac users that cannot upgrade.

In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

A high-end modular Mac Pro, new original TV shows, AR smart glasses, and autonomous driving software are all products Apple is working on, with no official release date known. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2018?

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 12, tvOS 12, watchOS 5, or macOS 10.14? Popular wishlist items for last year included a dark mode for iOS, a customizable Control Center (which happened!), animated icons, iPhone complications, a swipe-based keyboard, offline Maps and Siri, and more.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect post to get a glimpse at the current rumors. Apple's plans for 2018 will become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering every rumor that pops up in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also a rich resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many exciting changes on the horizon for 2018, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions on what's coming.

We'd like to thank all of our readers and forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to yet another rumor-packed year in 2018.

I would like them too purchase Tidal and continue to stream CD quality and MQA titles.

What do I want? The ability to take ONLY my iPad on business trips. I still can't rely on it as my only device on the road. Business apps like Office are still a mess on iOS.

1.) MacBook Pro with MagSafe, at least one standard USB port, and SD card reader. I owned a 2016 13 inch with touchbar for a month before returning it and going back to my 2013 MacBook Pro and I am happy enough to continue to wait until my MacBook gets a proper successor.

2.) Opening up Siri to more apps. I want to be able to ask Siri to play songs on Spotify.

3.) Allowing 3rd party maps (Waze, Bing, and Google Maps) in Apple CarPlay.

I need it this year! By mid-summer it needs to be announced for the Fall at the latest. I can't see this being that hard! They knew it last fall (2016) the anger of the missing ports. The anger and frustration is only growing!

Okay, I'll join in with my personal wish list...

Mac:
* New, modular/upgradable Mac Pro (preferably starting ~$2600-3000) - I'll be buying if it comes out
* Keyboard for Mac/iMac with touch bar and touch ID

Mac-related Hardware:
* Push USB-C and Thunderbolt with new monitors and storage options at not-too-outrageous prices.
- Side note: I think apple and others should really be pushing the industry to adopt USB-C as THE future of computer connectivity. I want to see the day when car models come out with built-in USB-C outlets. Die A-Type, B-Type, Mini, Micro-A, Micro-B, etc... Die!

iPhone:
* Updated iPhone X with moderately lower prices (perhaps manufacturing prices will come down in 2018?)

Mac OS:
* TV app for Mac OS
* Let full-size app windows remember their "slot" in the screen list (e.g., when I switch a Safari window out of full screen and then switch it back to full screen, I want it to go back to its previous location in the screen list)

iOS
* Fix stability issues

iCloud:
* More affordable large-scale storage options with "everyone can afford to keep it all in the cloud" mentality
* More advanced keychain-in-the-cloud capabilities and Mac/iOS utilities to make pay-as-you-go password managers obsolete. This should be a well-designed part of the Apple ecosystem

Apple Store:
* Annouce a new Apple Store SOMEWHERE midway along the Southeastern US gulf coast - Mobile? Gulf Shores? Pensacola? Destin? Panama City?

Corporation:
* Focus on produces and be less preachy in other areas
* Show strong commitment to Macs and the Mac OS
