A 4 inch iPhone exists. However, there is no such thing as a 'flagship' iPhone in Apple's line up. They all share the same iOS, it's just a matter of hardware and some software differences with the iPhone X.
I'm sure you can figure out what I mean. Or if you can't, a 4 inch phone with the same internals + camera as the X.

What the hell is wrong with you? What kind of monster wishes ill health on someone to fulfill some sort of deprived vision for a company?
Nobody is wishing it upon him. He looked sickly in the last keynote. People willfully kept denying that Steve was ill but that didn't change his reality.

In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

A high-end modular Mac Pro, new original TV shows, AR smart glasses, and autonomous driving software are all products Apple is working on, with no official release date known. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2018?

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 12, tvOS 12, watchOS 5, or macOS 10.14? Popular wishlist items for last year included a dark mode for iOS, a customizable Control Center (which happened!), animated icons, iPhone complications, a swipe-based keyboard, offline Maps and Siri, and more.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect post to get a glimpse at the current rumors. Apple's plans for 2018 will become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering every rumor that pops up in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also a rich resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many exciting changes on the horizon for 2018, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions on what's coming.

We'd like to thank all of our readers and forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to yet another rumor-packed year in 2018.

Do those laptops with 32GB of RAM also offer comparable battery life? Also you'd rather have a heavier laptop because of this? For how many people are you speaking? What would you need 32GB of RAM for in a 13" macbook pro without dedicated graphics?
No one suggests that it is the lame 13" MBP that we want power for. We want power on the top end MBP, which means 15" or preferably 17". The 13" can stay as is for those with lesser needs.

Personally I would prefer 17" and for sure include state-of-the-art independent GPU in my request for 32 GB RAM. The weight and thickness of the 2011 17" MBP works fine, we just need to modernize RAM, GPU, etc. 16 GB is simply too little for modern graphics work, and many of us do need portability but will haul 6 pounds around to get a solid top MBP.

New iPhone SE, new iPad mini Pro, a Mac mini with 16GB RAM minimum. Things that just work and don’t have compromises.

iTunes/Music that doesn’t make me pine for the good ol’ days. I want to review my apps and browse for new ones on my computer, not an iOS screen. I want my music to play in the order I put it without it shuffling and changing randomly (constant irritation when walking). I don’t want hidden controls (look how many people google how to turn off shuffle). I don’t want my music in the cloud. I remember when iTunes decided that for me, I’m still missing music.

App Tags in Settings so you can find apps by words other than the names. I have THREE different types of scanner apps and I need to be able to summon them by ‘doc scan’, ‘police scan’, or ‘laser scan’. Notes apps? Give me a way to tag it with comments so I remember which one I like for what purpose.

Except my new 2 month old iMac has bluetooth problems so bad that I had to get out my 15 year old Microsoft wired mouse to get any work done. Oh, and try to charge the current Magic Mouse. Essentially the iMac needs to be shut down. If you plug in the charger with the mouse on, everything goes fubar. If you then try to turn the mouse off, and on again, then fubar.

Wired simply works better and is more reliable.
I too have a new iMac (3 months old).

What you’re describing is abnormal behavior. Your iMac is under warranty! Please contact Apple Support and they will get you sorted.

How about asking carriers to bring back subsidized phones with 2 year contract? I was paying $55/mo incl tax with unlimited data and got a new phone every 2 years for $200.

Or how about an Apple MVNO?

Since you asked what we want in 2018...
  • MacBook Pro with "pro" features restored, including MagSafe, a UHS-II SD card slot, better keyboard, bigger battery, glowing Apple logo on back (not "pro" but I still like it), and yes, 1 legacy USB3 port too to avoid dongle life. (All this will fit on a 15" MBP.) Apple also needs to improve their antiglare coating so it won't come off and we can at long last close down our Staingate FB Group.
  • Resurrect the 17" MBP and make it a performance powerhouse filled with ports.
  • Mac Pro with both a realistic price tag and a case and motherboard that makes everything very expandable.
  • Don't allow the iMac Pro to languish like the poor 2013 Mac Pro, offering at least one major update in 2018, then another update annually after that.
  • Continue to improve the color adjustment features of FCPX (for example, there's no way to expand footage shot at 64-940 -- the Panasonic GH5 locks you to that range when shooing in HLG -- to 0-1023, unlike DaVinci and Premier which allow you to do that rather easily).
  • Expand the viewable color gamut of all Apple displays to offer native viewing and editing of HDR content like Rec.2020.
  • Support VP9 so I can finally view 4K content in Safari and no longer need to use Chrome for that.
  • Improve FCPX so it takes full advantage of the CPU and GPU hardware of the iMac Pro, which it does not now, as per the full YouTube review of the iMac Pro by Max Yuryev.

I literally just switched from a 2017 13” MacBook “Escape” to a 2015 15” MacBook Pro, and I’m so much happier. Usable ports, no Touch Bar (I got the 13” for the 2017 model because Apple didn’t offer a sans-TB version) no satanic butterfly keyboard (been using one since the first-gen 12” MB, never got used to it), and a full array of ports that don’t require dongles, docks, or hunting for USB-C peripherals.

Ive’s recent comments suggest he’s been bludgeoned by enough criticism over the recent direction of MacBooks that Apple is probably prepared to release a less user hostile successor—probably not in time for this year, but early next year.
Ive doesn’t control which ports MBP have, or the size of the battery, for those who blame him for thinness. Those are marketing decisions.

If marketing thought they needed Ethernet, USB-A ports, long travel keyboards or 2x current battery life to sell MBP, they’d have put them in the requirements doc.

Apple’s vision of a thin, light, powerful laptop that was ideal for traveling, and moved easily between home and work—often with the use of just a single cable—was fully realized in the 2016/2017 MBP.

That vision isn’t consistent with the requirements of some users, including those who want native ports, a traditional escape key or longer battery life, among others. The touch bar vision has yet to be fully realized, and may well end up being one of Apple’s innovation mis-fires.
