Here's what I want: I want Apple to make me feel foolish over the reason I bought a MacBook Pro this year -- the most moolah I've ever laid out for an Apple product. I bought the last remaining real-keyboard not-usb-c MagSafe MacBook Pro model because I figured: Apple is now so incredibly far outside the professional user's headspace that they might never again make a reasonable Pro laptop, and that this therefore was my last chance. We've been through the Great Mac Mini Stupidification of 2014, and the idea that Apple could really, actually, be that out of touch is no longer off the table.

So, Apple, here's what I want: a line of MacBook Pros without the butterfly keyboards, back to MagSafe, a few common ports, the option to say no to the whammy bar and save hundreds of dollars, and repairability. Make me feel silly for thinking you'd be as dumb about the MacBook Pro as ... well, as you were appearing to be.

For the desktop: my repairable, upgradeable Mac Mini quad core is humming away. Wow, what a great idea those were.

I'd like the Mac to be made a first class citizen. I'd like bug fixes and more bug fixes and then after that... some bug fixes. Mac / Apple are no longer really stable products. It is sad.

It would also be nice if they somehow figured how to not make everything on the iPhone an Easter egg hunt. Maybe even 100% document all the options that are available and not just with one line BS descriptions.

I’d like to see a scalable modular desktop Mac - at the low end it is a “Mac Mini” with basic CPU and GPU and can be built up to a full scale high end “Mac Pro.”

I realize that this may be unrealistic to expect that one base machine would cover the entire range - full available throughput needed at high end would be cost prohibitive to include in every base model or cost constraints at the low end would limit what could be done at the high end. But perhaps some ranges of “base” machine that would be compatible with all modules so that going from the “basic” to “midrange” “base” would allow you to still carry your GPU and storage modules along to the new machine.

I’d also like to see the macOS and iOS update cycle slow down. Most people don’t need a new device every two or three years. Modular options would only increase the lifespan of these systems. Let’s concentrate on stability and usability instead of “the next greatest thing.”

I would like to see the Mac division spun off from Apple so they can focus on developing computers and then Apple can focus all its resources on Tim's interests.

In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

A high-end modular Mac Pro, new original TV shows, AR smart glasses, and autonomous driving software are all products Apple is working on, with no official release date known. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2018?

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 12, tvOS 12, watchOS 5, or macOS 10.14? Popular wishlist items for last year included a dark mode for iOS, a customizable Control Center (which happened!), animated icons, iPhone complications, a swipe-based keyboard, offline Maps and Siri, and more.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect post to get a glimpse at the current rumors. Apple's plans for 2018 will become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering every rumor that pops up in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also a rich resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many exciting changes on the horizon for 2018, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions on what's coming.

We'd like to thank all of our readers and forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to yet another rumor-packed year in 2018.

An iPad Mini Pro (7.9”).

My iPad Mini 4 is literally my primary tool for the work I do as a behavior analyst. It is the optimal size to be with me every second of my day.

Praying they don’t discontinue it.

I happen to own the 2016 13" w/Touch Bar model. There's nothing wrong with it. What do you want to see changed?
The keyboard.

It might work well for some, but I’ve been a proficient typist on every Mac laptop for more than a decade, and on my MBP w/tb (a feature I love) typing’s unbearable. I use my MBA instead and will sell the MBP at a considerable loss. I’ve had the MBP checked twice at apple stores and they say it’s ok. It’s not just dust, it’s design.

So I’d like a MBA w/tb or a new MBP with the old keyboard.

And world peace. ✌️

I would like to see them spin off the iOS division (with Tim) from Apple, so that Apple can concentrate on the Mac.

1) A 2018 model of the iPhone X with a 4" (or better a 3.5") screen.
2) Bring back skeuomorphic and 3D look to MacOS and iOS.
3) Touch screen input option on Macs.
4) External pointing device (mouse, trackpad, etc.) input option for iOS.
5) 3D touch, Pencil, shared user file storage, split screen, etc. standardized across all iOS devices.
6) Keep the iPad mini & Mac mini.
7) Dual Thunderbolt ports on AppleTV with input and pass through capability to act as a hub for connecting and controlling other devices and overlaying onto the video display from other devices.
8) More iOS capability in TVOS, especially web browser, email, iMessages, phone, etc.
9) Phone app on iPad.
10) An Apple web search engine to compete with Google.

"4" (or better a 3.5") screen" ...you must be in prison

The ability to play 4k content on Mac computers. It's utterly insane that you cannot play 4k movies on a 5k iMac....or hell any computer.

I just hate the fact that 4k content is treated with such a ridiculous amount of protection that it hinders peoples ability to watch it. I've had my 5k Retina iMac since 2014 and I've never been able to see a 4k movie or TV show. I can watch some Youtube vlogger in 4k but not any content from studios.
