eco apple watch ? no battery needed

In our recent What to Expect post, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2018 based on the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2018 plans.

Three new iPhones are on the horizon, one a followup to the iPhone X, one that will serve as an "iPhone X Plus" with a larger OLED display, and one with an LCD display that will be positioned as a low to midrange device with a cheaper price tag. Apple's first smart speaker, the HomePod, will come out in 2018, and we're also expecting a revamped iPad Pro, refreshed Macs, and new software, but there's always a chance for a wildcard update or new product that will surprise us all.

A high-end modular Mac Pro, new original TV shows, AR smart glasses, and autonomous driving software are all products Apple is working on, with no official release date known. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2018?

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 12, tvOS 12, watchOS 5, or macOS 10.14? Popular wishlist items for last year included a dark mode for iOS, a customizable Control Center (which happened!), animated icons, iPhone complications, a swipe-based keyboard, offline Maps and Siri, and more.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect post to get a glimpse at the current rumors. Apple's plans for 2018 will become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering every rumor that pops up in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also a rich resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many exciting changes on the horizon for 2018, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions on what's coming.

We'd like to thank all of our readers and forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to yet another rumor-packed year in 2018.

* macbook pro with detachable iPad screen. Combining macOS and iOS (iPad attached= macOS, detached = iOS. Both worlds, one device.

* iPad with oled display and no borders like iPhone X.

* a slim apple watch

* no new iphones or new ones with BIG price cut.

* a real apple tv partnering with philips/tp vision (ambilight, 21:9 ratio etc)

* a working and usefull siri. Come on, make it a real assistent you want to talk to (like winston in the new dan brown book).

* AR glasses (this will be the future)

* no apple car for me, because it won't be affordable for most people on this planet...

* an apple controller for the apple tv. Make it a console with AAA games!

* homekit stuff from apple (smoke detectors etc like nest produces)

* black airpods

* better basic features like a configuration for "do not disturb" that deserves the name "configuration". Make it configurable for every day, certain gps coodinates etc.

@Apple: if you are reading this: I got a whole lot more ideas that could change (y)our world. Especially for Siri.

Look at the responses here.

Anyone else notice, the fact that a huge percentage of posts in this topic are things that apple will NEVER ever do (like an Upgradable Mini, stop making things thin just because, headphone jacks, etc) just shows how little Apple actually gives a crap now what their customers actually want.

This is a pure sign that company is doomed if you ask me. I believe that I have purchased my last iphone when my 6s is done, and I have purchased my last Mac when my current iMac is done.

I like MacOS but I am done waiting for a decent new mac or mini with an upgradable video card, easily accessed drive expansion, and some decent standard ports. I am going to build a kick ass windows box in 2018, and start migrating my family to it.

I also love iOS and do prefer it to Andoid, but by god the next phones purchased for this family of 5 that we buy will have replaceable batteries, cases and phone bodies are not purposely fragile as **** to sell more, headphone jacks, sd card slots, and usb based charging port. If there is an apple phone that meets those needs great, if not then something else will be purchased.

It is shocking when you think about how deaf and dumb the people at Apple have become.

All screen iPhone SE. So basically iPhone X the size of the iPhone 5. Single camera is fine but please no camera hump. If this happens, I'll switch back to iOS.

I happen to own the 2016 13" w/Touch Bar model. There's nothing wrong with it. What do you want to see changed?

I'd like to see a MacBook Pro version with:

MAGSAFE charging
Edge to edge Matte Screen
ECC Memory
64 GB or more RAM option
SD Card Reader
NO Touchbar
Gigabit or better Ethernet Port

You know, a PRO version.

Magsafe. It is such a quick easy way to plug in, not to mention safe.

I continue to hate the glossy screen. If it was a touch screen, sure maybe it has to be glossy. But the glare I get is far more annoying than I need.

ECC Memory might be overkill, but I think necessary to call it pro. Maybe make that an option so that people who don't want the performance/battery hit won't have to have it.

SD cards are far more useful than most people know. Good for sneaker netting large files or even extra storage space. I
have a bunch of VMs on an SD card as I am running out of room internal.

Just don't need the touchbar, happy to sacrifice it.

I myself know a handful of sysadmins that manage Unix/Windows/Apple environments. For them having on board ethernet to pipe right in is important. Dongles make it not worth doing and I see sysadmins switching back to PC.

For me ethernet is the ultimate docking option.

A smaller trackpad, keys with more travel, MagSafe, and a USB port, would improve it for me!
Why a smaller trackpad, I've had zero problems with my trackpad, in fact im leaning on the side of the trackpad as im typing this and it's great at palm rejection. Besides palm rejection issues I cannot see a problem with its size.

Have you used the keyboard on these new MacBook Pros? They're great.

MagSafe, okay, it was a great feature, but now that Apple is taking distance from proprietary connectors, you guys still complain..

USB port? It's got 4..

1. To slow down and make their iOS / macOS 100% ROCK SOLID, rather than pushing out new versions every year that are really full of bugs. People liked Apple because of quality and Apple really started loosing this game, especially software quality is becoming really mediocre. Most people are ok to wait a bit more, we don't need new OS every year (especially if it breaks everything)
2. Some Apple services are so confusing that I actually stopped using them. iTunes and Photos are prime examples. This should be ultimate priority. Example: When my iCloud Photo library became full (and I didn't want to upgrade), there was no way to mass delete / export 1000s of photos. I spent hours doing it manually. Is that really Apple?
3. A real, future proof, upgradable, customisable pro machine.
4. transparency regarding why older phones become unusable after iOS upgrades
5. ALLOW TO RESET THE iOS DEVICE TO ITS ORIGINAL iOS or previous iOS forever. It's not OK that we bin millions of devices a year just because an update made it unusable. This would make me trust Apple more. Currently, I am not willing to update my iPad Air 2 and iPhone after 1 (maybe 2) updates.
6. Fresh innovation that goes a bit beyond an animated poo.
7. MacBook Pro trackpad that is also a digital pen surface
8. Much stronger, classy, "Leica" style design for iPhone, rather than this lazy, curved design that is so similar to other brands.

Open software customization...and please Apple, no more pre-teen animations and bloatware.

There's an old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" (referring to SE form factor here)

So basically not much of what the community wanted happened last year except the (sort of) customisable Control Centre.

But hey, Apple knows best, not the users right?

What about the ports? What about the keyboard? What about charge connection? What about the battery? What about the ram? What about the SSD

Sorry but what a useless comment that was...

Ports that I can connect most of the accessories I can buy at best buy in 2018 without needing adapters.

A keyboard with a deeper stroke

A charge connection with magsafe. A charge connection that doesn't use half the ports on the model with function keys.

An easily replaceable battery like every model up until the 2015.

Fast modern RAM, not cheap last generation surplus that takes more power and runs slower than current gen.

SSD that is removable...this is not about upgrading (which would be nice) but any major failure of the Mac means your data is lost unless Apple can do a retrieval at high price. removable storage can easily be recovered externally as long as it in in tact, no matter how severely the mac is damaged. Soldering primary storage is totally inexcusable for any reason.

Good luck in your new life. Apple has never been for everyone.
