Fixed the games name in my post. The game looks really good and I thought this was one of those set up your train network type games. And I might’ve paid $10 for it on sale. So I’m taking a closer look at it and it’s like OK. What’s the point of this game? 🤔 I don’t want to basically sit in a train cab or walk around the train even for multiple hours looking at the sights…
It's a train driving game.

If you want a train network game, A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism is pretty great! It's the latest in the line of A-train games. It's not strictly building the train network as you're trying to encourage the city overall to grow through the train network. There's a few others in the series too.

Synopsis: You were in an accident and lost consciousness. The moment you wake up, you find yourself in a nightmare world, one that is not of this Earth. In an abattoir ruled by madness, horrific scenes unfold, and inescapable terror awaits you.

You might want to warm up on something easier on the nerves such as Audition LOL. It's the presentation that I find unnerving more than anything else. CRUELTY isn't deeply phycological like Visage is, however the game will get under your skin. You've been warned...

"CRUELTY" is a “Japanese-made splatter horror” in its official description. CRUELTY certainly lives up to its namesake in terms of presentation. A game whose violent content is so extreme, it even comes with a peculiar set of streaming guidelines:

"We are not responsible for any damages arising from posting or streaming gameplay footage of this product on video sharing sites. Please carefully review the policies and guidelines of video sharing sites before posting or streaming gameplay footage. The contents of this guideline are subject to change without notice."

If you’re a horror aficionado who doesn’t mind something a little rough around the edges CRUELTY is well worth a look. The pieces for something genuinely fascinating are all here and accounted for — they just need to fit together a little bit better...

Not a "game": x-plane 12, some well made flight simulator, coded on a Mac, but available on linux and windows as well.

Eriksholm: enjoyed the ambiance but not very memorable, has poor replayability and is pretty short. Why build this beautiful world and not allow the player to fully explore it is strange to me.

I wish that someone would make a remastered version of Doom 1 and 2, like Night-Dive did with Quake 1 and 2.

Been playing the MOBAish MMORPG Corepunk for the last few days, this game is insanely fun and there's not much of a performance difference between a 7800x3d/9070xt and stock Mac Mini M4. While the graphics isn't something revolutionary the gameplay itself fresh to me and quite challenging with zero handholding. The smaller community is also much friendlier than that found on WOW or XIV.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition (on Steam Deck as always) - is it particularly 'enhanced'? Not really. I *know* the textures are improved character models higher resolution and sharper ... but playing on Steam Deck ultimately it feels little different than playing the 2006 game that it is (especially coming directly from Gothic 3, another 2006 game but *not* 'enhanced').

I LOVE NWN2, so I am having fun replaying the game for the first time in at least five years, and hopefully completing it for the first time in over a decade. But it is hard to justify this as a purchase for those with marginal interest who can easily play the GoG version (Steam version got delisted a while ago, and they even try to bury it if you'd purchased it before then like I did - it didn't show up from my Steam Deck to install!). But for Switch, PS5 and XBOX - this is your chance.

I started out playing as Sorcerer ... but got to Neverwinter and decided I wanted to play as a Paladin so I restarted.

I noticed the same thing with NWN1: Enhanced Edition. Doesn't really feel different from the original on PC from what I could tell. Didn't even add controller support on PC which would have been nice.

Good to know there's basically no value in picking up NWN2 Enhanced when I already have the GoG version.

Aug 1 Carnage:
  • Bright Memory: Infinite: Set Aside. I liked the combat mechanics, but the bosses were on the crazy side, I could work to beat them, but it irritated me there was no way in game to change difficulty settings, I'm not into working that hard.
  • Dragon's Dogma 2: Set Aside. I do like it's group mechanics, having a dedicated companion, and 2 temporary companions, I like the countryside. I resorted to a cheat because the fast tavel system is highly restrictive. The game and combat mechanics got boring. The quests felt shallow and were not really holding me into the story. There is supposed to be romance, but it's so shallow and sanitized, no need to bother for that reason.
Still Playing:
  • World of Warships: figured out how to play destoryers and cruisers... Win rate seems to be increasing.
  • Cyberpunk 2077- This game gives me so much comfort, it's almost like living in an alt reality. As structured and limits as it is, all quest memorized, but it's still fun on 5th playthough.
Considering (in Library):
  • Kingdoms of Amateur: Re-Reckoning (Action RPG) - Very interesting looking
  • Star Wars: Outlaws: Very likely next (Open World Action Adventure)- Good ole Star Wars Environment. I think Andor and Rogue One got me going with this when it was a demo to try out

Colditz Escape
If you have ever watched Colditz (UK TV series) and liked, the game while very much a blast from the past is well worth a look at. While mostly nostalgic Colditz Escape is a fully reversed engineered game from the Amiga (published in 1991 by Digital Magic Software) that now plays on modern Mac & PC hardware.

Game link:

Some other links of use:

Game is designed and best played with a joystick. It's possible to play with keyboard, however, far from optimal.

Colditz TV Series 1

Colditz TV Series 2

The most interesting factors: both the TV series & game are based on real-world events of high-risk prisoners of war escaping from a seemingly inescapable prison. The TV series very much captures the mutual respect and understanding of both captor & captured...

Colditz is an excellent example of BBC programming when it was actually good. The game dev's look to replicate within reason with the current version being a lot more player friendly, offering game saves etc. If nothing else enjoy the links to the original TV series.
