Diablo 2 on Intel Mac Pro 5,1

Hi,
Is it possible to play Diablo 2 on an Intel Mac Pro 5,1? Over the years I must have bought this game many times, I actually had a version working on the Mac Pro, but it doesn't work anymore. I am currently running OC/Monterey

Playing a few games on the used PS5 I purchased last weekend. The previous owners forgot to log out of their account so there are some digital games left on. I have not connected to the network with the PS5 yet so just playing these games for a bit till I wipe the whole thing. They left on:

Spiderman 2 - horrible story but fun game to play pretty much just like the previous versions with better graphics.

Assassins Creed: Mirage - looks good but find the world pretty limiting and repetitive compared to older games. I never finished this one on PC, probably won't finish it here. Find the voice acting and over all story just bland. Wish they could get back to the quality they had with Ezio.

Hogwarts Legacy - Another game I have on PC but never delved deep into. Basically just been exploring the world with one of their accounts that had complete the game. It certainly looks amazing!

Mortal Kombat 1 - Another nice looking game, story does not interest me and the fighting combos are just not my thing.

2 games I bought, NHL 2025 and Ghost of Yotei. NHL was just because I have a friend when he visits we like to play this. Game looks nice but nothing really changed from the PS4 version I have which is maybe 2020?

Ghost of Yotei looks absolutely stunning. SuckerPunch makes some of the best looking games in my opinion InFamous for PS4 was a fantastic game that looked incredible and was a day 1 game. Story is pretty simple for Yotei, just a woman looking for revenge. Nothing wrong with simple. Already more enjoyable then Assassins Creed: Shadows. Looking forward to digging deeper into this world, barely scratched the surface of this one.

You can try running the Windows version with Crossover/Wine. Or I guess the old Mac version in a 10.14 VM or install.

You can also run Diablo 1 through DevilutionX, nothing like that for Diablo 2 yet AFAIK.

Starting on Blue Protocol tomorrow on Steam and maybe iPad. The trailer looks like its going to be a fun casual MMORPG.

Edit: this game is mobile slop with both gacha/pay to win mechanics. I wish there's a fun MMORPG that's worth playing, gonna try New World again.

Just started play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. May have to revisit the difficulty setting I chose. I like having my hand held these days...

LOL, I'm the type of player who just wants to enjoy the play through, and not get one-shot when I turn a corner.

I've been tempted by this game, I'm unsure if its on sale, but I may pick it up when it is

I figure if I am paying for GP:U I may as well use it. It looks like you can set combat difficulty separately from exploration difficulty.

I am a fan of beating folk over the head with random tools found in the levels I have played so far.

So ... got started with Bloodlines 2 on Steam Deck yesterday. Back in 2019 when I pre-ordered I was still getting most things on GoG when possible ... so I had to make my first venture into using the Heroic Launcher, which lets you add GoG, Epic and Amazon games to Steam. Pretty easy process overall.

As for the game, two thoughts:
- Performance is pretty much crap on the Steam Deck, significantly worse than Avowed to reference another recent UE5 game. In one day I've had four crashes, two full reboots, died and had a masquerade violation due to sluggish performance.
- The game is not very interesting. It reminds me of Duke Nukem Forever in how it is simultaneously old and new and neither in a good way. I'm a couple of hours in, unlocked a bunch of stuff, had some fun dialog and combat moments amongst mostly very forgetful stuff ... and I'm kind of over it.

Oh well, I'd just started Chapter 5 of Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak which is MUCH better, so I'm going back to that. Hopefully better luck next week with Outer Worlds 2!

The review I watched asked, “why is this being called Bloodlines 2? “ Then went on to say it’s not a terrible game, but not anything special.

You're not missing much, max out everything on 3440x1440 the game still looks quite dated especially compared to other games of the genre like Cyberpunk. It doesn't even look like a 2019 game. The area we get to traverse is also very small(its smaller than the first game?) right now, and I also don't expect to see any DLC for it. And for a heavy dodging and melee type of game the developer really should have given us a 3rd person option. Overall I kinda want a refund but I'm over 2 hours played.

What makes it look dated?

Not trying to compare it to Cyberpunk again since that's the gold standard and they're at different price points but...

- building uses plain white/grey/black panels and recycled resources
- they're also utterly spotless with zero graffiti on them
- the lighting is from only a few sources
- for Seattle no cars can be seen on the streets at 7pm
- street lamps does not have directional light sources
- NPCs looks like they're out of Skyrim besides the main characters
- AI can't see you in front of them nor will they react if you kill one when they're standing there talking to each other
- Sometimes male NPCs will have female voices and vice versa
- Police will stop chasing you the moment you crouch in a dark place

There are games like Trepang2 which goes for like $12 that does the above way better than this game.

Amnesia: The Bunker

Amnesia: The Bunker is a first-person horror game set in a desolate WW1 Bunker. Face the oppressing terrors stalking in the dark. Search for and use the tools and weapons at your disposal. Keep the lights on at all costs and make your way out alive. Not as brutal as Alien Isolation(so far), equally a horror game than can induce fear in the player thx to the smart use of the in game A.I. A simple yet effective setting in a rarely covered period...

I'm not a horror fan, but this game sounds intriguing, I'll check out a trailer or review
Its good, best to watch a no spoilers review is highly rec'd by most. So far is very balanced on Normal with multiple modes to suit most play styles...

If you like The Bunker, Alien Isolation is the next in line. Both games are worth the play just to see how game A.I. can be done right.

Amnesia: The Bunker is currently on sale with GOG for buttons...

Yeah, that's the downside, I'm actively doing that with Outer Worlds 2

Not sold on Outer Words 2, will see in time. I avoid the paid for reviews and those with strong bias one way or the other, same applies to HW.

Always good to buy on a deal and worth the time to dig a little given the state of gaming right now. Frictional is generally a safe bet as they are independent and haven't dropped too many duds. Even then they have quickly responded with a solid game like The Bunker.

I like many people really like Fallout New Vegas, so when Obsidian released Outer Worlds, it was eagerly anticipated and it was largely a successful release. I think the biggest knock on the game was that the RPG wasn't really an open world, and the game itself was rather short by RPG standards.

OU2 seems to address the game's depth and breadth, and from the limited reviews, I've seen, its somewhat more open, but not quite as much as some people hoped for.

My take on OU2, its a game I want to play but not for 70 dollars.

Patience is a virtue, soon enough OW2 will be discounted :) Outer Words not as good a New Vegas IMO, but I'm more for OG S.T.A.L.K.E.R. More so Radiophobia 3... Game is brutal, gritty above all else dangerous as one would expect. Graphics are nothing to write home about, gameplay & narrative on the other hand a lot could learn from. Open Source and free for all...

I have Fallout 1-3 & New Vegas, The draw to Radiophobia 3 (R3) is the sheer level of immersion few come close including STALKER 2. R3 choices matter, careful who you align with as there will be consequences and thx to A-Life (game AI) no replay is ever the same. R3 Is a survival horror, shooter based on Shadow of Chernobyl. The horror aspect is not based on shock or gore; it's based on the immersion into the gameworld

R3 has a hard start and requires the player to invest. The payoff is the most realistic single player firefights I've ever experienced, at times you will fill hunted, others you will dominate due to acquired skills & experience. R3 is endlessly unpredictable as you the player are not the centre of the game...

Lately I've been playing EA Sports PGA Tour via Xbox Cloud streaming on my Mac Mini M4 with a PS5 controller.

A superb experience, much to my surprise!

(in person it looks even better than this photo I took "of the TV screen")

So I'm trying the Amnesia The bunker game. It was on sale for like 5 bucks - short money if I don't like it.

Right now the controls are very awkward - I'm not really liking how they have us open doors and what not, very awkward
