I use a wallet case and it works with wireless charging. But they are in the flap and not in the back.

Nah, don't like the flap.

And the fact that I am not sure how electricity would interfere with credit card magnet...Hmmm, probably a no-go for me.

Well, there goes the biggest selling point of iPhone 8 and 8+.

I can't wait to have a pad at my desk at work and have my phone charge while it's just sitting on it next to me.

Can someone please explain to me exactly what is all the fuss about wireless charging?

I'd rather have a small wire going into my phone instead of a large stupid lump of crap on my table which also has a wire going into.

What is it the point?????
It's just easy to charge....laziness.

Yes, they do. When Apple sneezes, the media runs for a tissue.

That's not driving the market. That's not creating innovative technology. That's catering to the loser media. Has nothing to do with driving the "market".

Apple is playing "catchup". And they're losing. By a lot.

Karaoke show.

Even though this took place a few years ago, remember Steve Jobs' antennagate conference? It was carried live on television. Negative or positive, Apple gets the attention. I'm not saying if it's justified or not, just putting it out there.

I agree. Not selling any phones at all. It must suck to have Apple's paltry sales, profits, and customer satisfaction.

Karaoke proved it again, right?

You mean with Huawei just passing them in sales? Wonder what will happen now. So Samsung and now Huawei. Interesting.

Are you serious? Apple hasn't released a new phone in a year. The new one will drive sales back up. All of this is cyclical.

This is how I thought wireless charging worked:

Your phone could charge no matter where you placed it around the house (within reasonable distance, obviously). Similar to wireless iTunes syncing.

Eventually this will be the case.

You watch too much startrek

But does it need to be charging the very moment you reply to a text? No. You pick it up, reply and set it down. Done. It's not going to miss out on that minute of lost charging time.

Well if I'm constantly picking it up and putting it down then it does interfere with the charging - especially when I'm close to leaving the house. It's not just one or two messages, if it's a full-blown, important conversation then it's just annoying. At least with a wire, it's charging all the time and you don't need to worry about using the phone.

This. First it was can't charge and play music with #portgate, now with wireless it's can't charge and use my phone at the same time. To me, this is actually a big deal.

I didn't think it would be, at first when I got the charging pad it was so exciting but after a while it just became more of a hassle. It didn't charge as fast as using a wire, it was annoying to have it stop charging whenever I wanted to use it and the charging pad just takes up unnecessary space on the bedside table. I like to have things really minimal and uncluttered, and it's just more trouble than it's worth!

I agree. I said it was a gimmick when Samsung did it and I still think it's a gimmick. Instead of packing a small charger, you now have to pack, and lug around, a big pad? Not practical at all for travel. Takes up too much space at home. Total gimmick. Until we can have wireless charging that doesn't require your phone to sit on top of it, it's a gimmick.

The only problem with that is finding a free wireless charging pad in airports, coffee shops, and other places. There's going to be dozens of people trying to charge their phones and no free pads.

As someone else said, with a cable it can charge while you are still using it.

I could see it being good for at work while listening to head phones. It always sucked that I couldn't charge my 7 Plus while listening with headphones.

Still, think it's a big gimmick and nothing more.

Huh? You don't have to lug it around you can still use the lightning cable when you want too.

Wireless charging is great and guess what if you hate it don't use it. Simple as that. No need to cry about it. Cars, Starbucks and etc now have places where you can charge your phone wirelessly so you don't need to worry about it or cables laying around. For example the Camaro has an optional wireless charging mat where you can just lay it down and it's quite easier doing that than Whike looking for ways to plug it in while driving.

Can't argue it's more convenient to charge your phone by laying down flat vs plugging a cable in however....

Mounting my phone in the car and using my phone while it's plugged in seem like 2 scenarios where wireless charging would be am issue.

Convenience. You are able to place the phone on a charging pad instead of having to plug it in. Works well on a bedside table, desk, or car.
On the night stand and in my car would be ideal. I would love not having to fuddle with a cable when I'm about to go to sleep and when I'm getting ready to drive somewhere. I'm in!

I'd love it in my car. Wondering if I can find a 3 x 5 inch pad that plugs into USB.
