well after work ill head over and see if i can grab one..ill have to wait like 1 1/2hour i get off work at 3:30pm so ill make sure ill have my iphone 4 with a good charge of battery to keep me busy while i wait:) i hope the line is not crazy..its close to my work and another apple store is on the way home..we have 3 here in SD thats close to me:apple::)

I plan to get up at 7 and drive to work. Then I plan to waste a good 3 hours of my worktime surfing this site with my old iPad and read the threads of people who complain that they didn't get an iPad.
Then I surf to the threads of the people who bought an iPad and have buyers remorse about their color choice. The I will briefly look into the "The new iPad is not worth the money" threads to see some action. I will resist the urge to troll though.

Then to give the day a good vibe I'll switch over to the "OMG I love my white iPad" threads.

In the end it's a great tablet and everybody will be happy.

Then I will start looking at the iPad 3 threads.
Haha!!
I hope there will be plenty of stock so I can go to the Apple store Saturday morning and get one. The closest Apple store is in another state which has no sales tax. If I order one online, I will have to pay sales tax, which would amount to the cost of an accessory, such as cover or camera connection kit.

If they are out of the model I want, I will order at the store and then pick it up when it comes in. I don't mind waiting, but I am eager to get it.

On the other hand, it might be exciting to stand in line at the Apple store on Friday night. ;)

The money you save on tax, you're gonna end up paying in gas my friend.

I plan on going to my Apple store which is 5 minutes away at a mall that is always empty. Get in line at around 2:30 just in case.
Getting the white 64 gig 3g model. I always take cash with me because you never know what can happen with credit cards, the system sometimes crashes at my job and people can't pay with their credit cards. they have to wait.
Oh and there's a Best Buy, Wal;mart and a Target within 20 minutes to each other. I'll go to Apple cause I want the whole Apple experience and they should have the most stock.

Since its my birthday, I'll be going to work because I'm an idiot and forgot to book the day off. :(

Anyway, continue with your iPads.....

Haha!!

I have a hybrid car, only live 10 miles from the store, two trips will cost me $4.00 at most. Compared to $40.00 sales tax, I am highly motivated to buy at the store.:D

The apple store doesn't open till 5pm on Friday. So my game plan is at 2:30 when I get out of school I will speed to the apple store. So I'll probably get there around 3 so that is 2hrs before it opens. I hope the line won't be to long and I'll wait there. Hopefully they will have my model and a free t-shirt (I think they give out shirts if so I want one).

You do realize that the lines could end up being short and you will have spent two hours waiting in line for nothing? ;)

Unlike an iPhone, iPads do not need activation. Its just a swipe card and go situation. That, plus the far more expensive iPads won't be in as big a demand as a "hot to get" cell phone like the iPhone. Apple will still sell a crapload, don't get me wrong. But I just don't see two hour lines, except maybe in the most trafficked stores in big cities like NY, Chicago and LA.

Threads like this are what make this forum tedious and nauseating. Your question is like a seven year old asking, "what should I wear on my first day of school?" Why do you need to ask people their game plan? YOU EITHER ORDER FROM APPLE.COM, GO TO AN APPLE STORE, OR TRY TO FIND IT AT A THIRD-PARTY RETAILER.

PS; it's not on sale til 5pm. Hope that helps.

have you been drinking? obviously you have, just what?

these threads are what make the forum fun. a lot more options have already been mentioned than:"YOU EITHER ORDER FROM APPLE.COM, GO TO AN APPLE STORE, OR TRY TO FIND IT AT A THIRD-PARTY RETAILER"

1) Is the ipad 2 coming with the cover or its additional?

2) Why won't apple let people do the "release day delivery" and order before hand like iphone 4?

3) do they plan on offering both colors on March 11?

1 - Additional cost

2 - Because they want to, likely to build lines and the FCC hasn't approved. You can't offer an item even for preorder until FCC approves

3 - Yes, Jobs said so at the announcement.

I'm trying to get my shift covered! I work at 5:30 about 20 minutes from the closest Apple Store.. I really want to go on launch day! I enjoyed it for the iPhone 4 launch.

I work 8 to 4, but considering leaving a bit early that day. If not then I will leave work @ my normal time of 4 and arrive at the Apple store on Michigan Ave about 4:30 or earlier.

I *do* need a game plan to get my iPad 2... the nearest Apple Store is 5 hours away. I've been reading this thread to get a sense of how things go at an Apple Store on product release day to decide if I want to go to the store or order online. I usually order Apple products online, but I'm going on a long trip to Indianapolis just a couple of weeks after the Canada March 25 date and I'd like to have the iPad 2 so I can leave my bulky laptop at home. Besides, I might enjoy the circus of an Apple Store release day event! I still fondly remember lining up in the morning on August 22, 1995 for a certain *huge* release day...

lines at my apple store were quite small during the first launch. I don't expect it to be any different this time. IMO folks who wanted to rub the magic have already done so.

I heard on emaccast that the sale time was 5:00pm Pacific time (he emphasized Pacific). Will the iPad go on sale on the east coast at 8:00 pm, or will it be 5:00 in each time zone?

i'm calling walmart or going in there at night on march 10 after i get off work. if they say i can get it early on march 11, then i'm going that time. who knows, maybe they'll just let it go early friday.

if they say i can only get it at 5 p.m. march 11 then i'm going in there around 3 or 4 to wait til i can buy it. maybe they'll let me get it early or something so i don't have to wait a couple hours.

Wake up. Eat. Get in line. Buy iPad. Start work at 6 PM.

Thats highly unlikely.

Clearly, you have never bought an apple device on launch day. Stores do not let customers 'get it early'.

I noticed Best Buy has the iPad 2 listed on their site but only has Black ones and ATT for 3g available. I wonder if the white iPads will be Apple Store only or BB is just lazy and didn't put all the SKU's up.

Is anybody thinking about buying one on day 1 and throwing it up on eBay for profit?

Please stop "yelling." We all know how to buy the iPad. The OP is just asking everyone what their plan is for Friday. No need to be rude.

For me, this will be my first Apple product launch. Threads like this help me gauge what to expect and how early to get to the Apple Store.

'I'm going to be ordering online at apple.com
I'm going to be taking advantage of the free engraving they are offering! I don't live by an apple store so having it show up on my doorstep on Monday or Tuesday sounds like a good deal to me!

Is anyone else going to get an engraving??
