Can't stand anything bagless. Emptying them always lets a puff of dust right back out. Even if you try to wrap a plastic bag around the container before you open it, you still have to pull it out of the plastic bag afterward, and then...*sneeze*.

I tried a Dyson in the store. You could feel the power it had, and it had a cool automatic adjustment, but it felt so rickety, as if it was made from a thousand plastic pieces just snapped together. For $600, I want decent build quality. Also, they're bagless.

I also tried a Miele. It felt much better made than the Dyson, and it wasn't bagless. That thing felt like a Dyson should have for the price.

But what I use is a Hoover Commercial. It cleans carpets, has a huge bag, feels solid, and it was only $150.

I picked up a used Dyson DC28 (the one that did well in that article) about 5-6 weeks ago, and so far I have been pretty happy with it. The fact that one must hold it down with one's foot to get it to fold down is ridiculous, but it picks up cat hair well. So far it's been a good purchase for the $180 I paid, but I wouldn't have paid list for it.

I had a bagged Dirt Devil or something for years and it worked very well, and then when it broke, I bought a Hoover bagless from Walmart which lasted not even three years. I'll be curious to see how the Dyson lasts.

Old thread. But, Rainbow™.

It's cool having the water tank thingie, and it's been a real tank afa taking abuse goes but I've always detested the little rollers that never go int he direction you wish them to go. You pull one toward you, and the 'cleaner shoots off like a bullet to the left or right. But it's lasted a long time.

Miele. Everything else is garbage. Especially, those Dyson gimmicks.

Miele S5000 Line. 10yrs warranty - one of the best vacuums on the market. Can't believe people are that fond of these plastic dyson vacuums

Television advertising in the US. Hint: if your vacuum needs to be on TV to sell itself, it probably isn't that good.

We always joke the Dyson are plastic junk.

I have two.
A Bosch 1600Watt for downstairs and a Phillips 1400Watt for second and third floors.

Both great in terms of design and quality.

I tested one and found the fit, finish and over build quality significantly lower quality than the much less expensive Miele options. It def didn't feel like it would survive 15-20 years.

Ohhh look - Here you are again trying to be smarter than everyone else. And failing. You should have that little man syndrome looked at....I'm sure you can recommend the Best. Therapist. Ever. to yourself.

And maybe I'm watching the wrong channels, but I've never seen a commercial for Dyson? Oreck? Yes. Dyson. No.

Great try me, i live in denmark yet i haven't seen a single dyson commercial and been living her for 5years+ yet i still bought it not because it was the most expensive one but because like apple products it looks good and works good without any problems so far- actually we had a little plastic piece that we accidentally broke off and the vacuum just ran out of warranty yet they replaced it for free.

plastic is the problem and the number one reason everyone I know goes with a Miele.

Another Dyson here. Got a great deal on it too! Yet to find another brand that can match it considering quality and price.

I think they sometimes overmarket themselves though. I think the are very good, but their marketing makes it seem like we were all knee deep in dust before they came along. The suction is clearly pretty good and I think the quality is too, but by playing themselves up so much I can see why some people are disappointed.

nice link but dyson simply doesn't advertise in the Tv's here... maybe in the us but definitely not denmark.

Also I don't understand what you got against plastic-unless you violently smash your vacum cleaner against something or throw it, plastic is a lot better than metal, lighter too and i am merely guessing but probably better for the environment as well.

And some dyson reviews:

mostly positive!

I don't they're bad quality overall, just lower quality per €/DKK than a Miele. Plus, I gotta keep the German economy strong.

My parents have a Miele washing machine, fridge and freezer. They are very, very good. But they got a Miele vacuum to replace an old Dyson and were quite disappointed, it was a noticeable drop in performance. My gf's parents got one too, sure enough they replaced with a Dyson. I looked at them when I moved out and was looking at buying a vacuum, still went with Dyson.
