Makes me want to watch a STNG Dixon Hill episode.

An opportunistic Texas gambler and the exiled Creole daughter of an aristocratic family join forces to achieve justice from the society that has ostracized them.
I watched yesterday Excision. What a strange movie.![]()
I watched Godzilla King of the monsters last night, the original Americanized Japense monster movie on TCM.
As I'm sure most of you know the original Japanese movie didn't star Raymond Burr, but they added scenes into it and changed the plot a bit to make it more acceptable to the American audience.
I hadn't seen this movie since I was a kid watching "Creature Double Feature" on Saturday mornings.

Ha! I have it recorded on my DVR from TCM for watching later today.
I also taped it, because I wasn't sure I'd have the time to sit down and watch it from start to finish.
One thing I noticed now that as a kid was lost on me, was the look and feel of the inserted scenes. Its very noticeable to me now but back then I had not even realized they did that
One thing is for sure, I want to watch the original (dubbed or subtitled) Gojira.
Just watched ghostbusters for the first time. Was on TV last night.
A reporter pretends to be Jewish in order to cover a story on anti-Semitism, and personally discovers the true depths of bigotry and hatred.
Caddyshack - a classic![]()
That's great. Looking forward to watching it.
These are some of my favorite animated movies![]()

Speaking of Grandkids, Finding Nemo is just an incredibly magic movie.
And?![]()
And when the Japanese actors spoke their lines, the lips would move and then you heard the translation.
I think it was mocked in one of the "Wayne's World" movies.
Am I the only one who doesn't like this movie?? At all? I absolutely love Pixar but IMO they made two bad movies so far; Cars and Finding Nemo. When I saw it for the first time I didn't want to believe Pixar made it. It doesn't live up to Pixar standards. It's a very overrated film. I saw it once and I don't think I'll ever see it again.
And I really liked it! I'm kind of wishing I didn't delete it from the DVR so soon. I always seem to like the team of Tim Burton, Johhny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter. Plus adding in Michelle Pfeiffer and Eva Green added to the al star cast.
I really disliked it. Johnny Depp has let his eccentric roles go to his head IMO. I hated Lone Ranger too. The bloom is off the rose![]()
There is something seriously wrong with you.Kidding, I disliked Cars too. I wanted more racing and less laying asphalt.
I can see what you mean by letting those roles go to his head. I like to look at it as a good thing for just such roles. I think it makes the character that much more spellbinding. I haven't seen the Lone Ranger yet though.![]()
I should clarify that The Lone Ranger is not mostly JD's fault IMO. I did not like the story or over the top CGI stunts.![]()
Too much CGI huh? I'm not a big fan of the over-the-top CGI either.
If you are looking for the Lone Ranger of old...this ain't it!
If you're looking for a silly, tongue-planted-frimly-in-cheek, self mocking, not-take-itself-seriosly-at-all...it's, imo, a fun watch. As much as I dislike the overuse of CGI in any film, this film is so satirically self mocking it didn't bother me. I realize that the script is not a justification for excessive CGI...but everything is so over-the-top in this satire. (Depp's silliness, the Ranger's dopiness)..it didn't bother me.
I liked it for what it was...and this from a major Lone Ranger TV series, first run watching, fan!
But that's just me...![]()
