Still my most favorite performance by Christopher Lee...

just watched X-Men: Apocalypse, it was very good but they did a horrible costume/design with Apocalypse, plus the actor who played him is only like 5'8

"Your name", it's an anime movie, and this one is really really good. After watching it, I said to myself, this anime movie is definitely top 3 ever in they genre. It's groundbreaking

The Legend of Tarzan (2016)- Ehh. Unremarkable, cgi heavy obtrusive and over the top execution. Decent story and performances by all, Christopher Waltz is always a treat although his was a subdued performance. Filmed in the... U.K. :)

I altered the cgi comment because I've realized how much digital manipulation is going on in most movies these days, but the stunts were so cgi and over the top, impossible to maintain a suspension of disbelief. This would have been much more friendly as an animated film.

Too many yeah right moments. ;)

Doctor Strange - as someone who has loved this character for many years, I am very happy right now. This was a lot of fun and thankfully not as quantum psychicsy as I presumed. Benedict x2, Chwietel, Mads and Tilda were on point.

Some things I'd change (like the exact placement of the Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd song, the loss of the word spells for visuals etc), but overall probably my fave Marvel along with Captain America the Winter Soldier. YMMV.

Will definitely see again, though not in 3D - you're not immersed as much I would have liked.

Just came back from watching Dr. Strange, it was quite good. its like a Super hero meets Narnia meets Dungeons and Dragons. this was fun and different even for Marvel standards

It was certainly fun, but I would have preferred they just skip or visit the origin story later. There's just too much Tony Stark in him. It felt like such a rehash.

Strange was far more greedy and arrogant in the comic and while they did slap a slightly more Tony Stark jerk on him, I felt like we were missing a good 15-20 minutes of getting to know these characters (especially Stephen and Mad's Kaecelius). Not so much in their origin, but just in the manner of how they learn, operate (yeah, okay, pun sorry) beyond what was mentioned. And yet, I think it worked well, but I wish Stephen and Kaecelius were written as well as Mordo was.

good point. one of the things that i didnt like was the actor they used for the "ancient one" it should have been a asian male not a white female lol...that threw off the movie

Just saw Dr. Strange with the family and thought it was good. Like many have already said, it's a different kind of Marvel movie because Dr. Strange is a different kind of Marvel Superhero. I found it to be entertaining and fun, many of the visuals were impressive while others I found to be mediocre. Overall, I would call it another successful Marvel venture and I look forward to seeing how Strange is used in future film crossovers.

Aliens (1986)- Tremendous sequel to the original classic, iconic, outstanding screenplay, direction, and soundtrack. For years motion tracker sounds gave me the willies. Game over, man!:D

I've mentioned this before, but what the heck. The Special Edition version (my blue ray has both, original theatrical release and special edition) has way too much info and is not nearly as tight as the original release. It's much better arriving on LV426 as a mystery (original release) versus seeing a reveal all, blow by blow as to how aliens were first encountered in the colony.

Interesting. Based on these comments and based on the previews, plus my wife's dislike for movies dealing in anything that could be deemed virtual reality (Matrix, Inception), I'll wait and stream this. :)

Aliens is the last James Cameron movie I still really like. A sequel that does something completely different yet works beautifully on every level.

And Captain America The Winter Soldier was on last night so I watched this again. Really good and you care about the characters. Mom laughed as I sighed when Steve realized who the Winter Soldier is. That leveled me in reading it in the comics 11 years ago and it still hits me hard watching the film version too (Brubaker's Captain America run was my soap opera for about four years).

Saw Dr. Strange this weekened with the family. Everyone one of us loved it! From my eight year old son, "Wow, that was amazing. That's my new favorite movie!!!!"

The wife, who generally only sees a movie once and doesn't see the point in watching movies over again, has already bought tickets for us to see it again.

LOL

Um much more than any you've posted. (That's what happens when you loyally read the source material for the four years it was firing on all cylinders and you just feel for those characters (okay, Steve and Bucky as written by Bru.)

Would you believe, with the World Series just ended and all the talk about Charlie Sheen throwing out the first ball (which didn't happen)...it reminded me that I've never seen "Major League"?

It's just as good as everybody says it is. Lots of memorable lines. One I never heard quoted before, from the Indians' catcher trash-talking an opposing hitter: "Hey, how's your wife and my kids?"
