I have seen a number of good sci-fi movies, but none quite as gripping as "Arrival"

A linguist is hired by the US military to attempt to communicate with aliens that land on earth.
It sounds cliche, but it's truly an incredible film.
I'm really excited about seeing this, been following it for months, and at least critically, it appears to be a phenomenal film.
I kid you not, they do some of the best treatments of various Sci-Fi subjects. The obvious is aliens. The aliens are handled perfectly with zero of the cliches reminiscent of alien movies.
There are other subjects, but I don't want to ruin the film.
Spider-Man Three. Why? Because I turned the telly on, and that film was on. Couldn't be bothered to search...
None of the MCU movies have been as good as Spider-man 2, but also few have been as bad as Spider-man 3

SM 1&2 were supurb, along with X-Men 1&2, and Hellboy 1

Oh yeah, I liked Hellboy! Forgot about that film...
Film was weak last and this year. There's too much emphasis on comic book film and animations. I never had an interest in comic books and don't enjoy animations. It's been very bleak for me. Do you guys have Netflix?

What we found was Blue Steel (1990), a far fetched, sub par, low suspense, crime thriller, with Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ron Silver. Dissapointed!!
We do, and I admit I am drawn to many of the comic based stories. I've enjoyed most of the original Netflix series we've watched. But Luke Cage has been a dissapointment. Tonight the only decent title I saw which we had already watched was the Hunger Games movies 3 and 4. Lots of good older movies, but the new ones looked mostly like titles that were never released to the theater.
Let me try to gage your tolerance for comic movies.
Did you ever watch Hellboy, the first X-Men, and the first Spiderman, and like or not like them? Supurb telling of these stories, but I understand they are much different than other genres and won't hold it against you if you don't like them

I've never seen them. Actually, I thought Hellboy was that Japanese film with the man locked in a room and having to murder his way out... The only comic film I've seen is probably that Fantastic Four movie that came out in 2002 or 2003?Let me try to gage your tolerance for comic movies.
I'd say the original x-men movie was far better than the fantastic 4. I'm talking about the original. I've not seen the remake.
Any franchise that replaces Jessica Alba is wrong in my opinion.
Loved her in Dark Angel.
Memoirs of an International Assassin (2016)- Netflix original movie. Light hearted farcical comedy about an aspiring author whose identity and story results in adventure in a banana Republic. Watchable, better than Blue Steel!

Fantastic Four sucked. Try Hellboy, maybe you'll find it worthy, it's got some nice story elements and interesting characters, not a Japanese film. Hellboy 2 sucked. And to emphasis, the original Spiderman 1&2 and X-Men 1&2 are excellent examples of this genre. Willem Dafoe is amazing as Green Goblin!

The first two Spider-Man films were good. However, Amazing Spider-Man was good to. Well, they had good humour. Once F1 (Brazilian GP) is over, I'm powering up Netflix to watch Hellboy...! Been ages...

Personally, I liked all the Spider-man films and Hell boy is Top notch. I think Kevin James is one of the top comedians out there today. everything he does is super funny and the King of Queens series is one of my fav. all time TV shows!
