Oh, goody. I thought I was the only person on this planet who disliked those two. Billy Bob comes off as a creep in all his roles. His role in Love Actually as the American President only helped that negative image. Coincidentally, who knew Love Actually's American President would some day come true. :p

he's never delivered a line i've believed.

nor has costner. i did, however, enjoy 13 days in october. but that has been about it.

jim carrey i've never been a big fan of. the dumb and dumber stuff i do find funny though.

I liked Billy Bob in Armageddon. :)
Dumb and Dumber is amazing. Should I repost the Lloyd Christmas Dream Sequence video?? :p

Maybe Billy Bob Thornton should stick to writing? The Gift (2000) --about a psychic trying to make ends meet by reading neighbors' fortunes in a gothic horror of a town in the deep South-- handed out a few good lines here and there, that's for sure. Anyway Cate Blanchett sure took what there was to run with and went there.

She and Hillary Swank both managed to carry their pieces of the script to credibility in that film. Keanu Reaves not too shabby with at least one line I still remember, his suggestion: "“The real danger is if someone starts worrryin’ that you’re gonna have another one of those dreams...” Heh but then I don't watch many horror flicks so perhaps I'm not the best judge.

I will admit that I enjoyed Excalibur - an excellent cast, and that amazing piece of music from Carmina Burana.......
Excalibur will always remain one of my favourites.
Yes, O, Fortuna! :)

However, oh… my… goodness. This Guy Ritchie King Arthur.
Awful. It was pretty much Dungeons and Dragons with the script and soundtrack of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Though camp bonus feature was Jude Law in the role of Evil Queen from Snow White chewing the carpet.

We won't be watching again. (And he has another five sequels planned!)

Cate Blanchett.
Round about the time of The Gift she also did The Missing. What a movie. Featuring one of the most horrifying screen villains ever… El Brujo *shudder*

Right now…
Guy Ritchie's version of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
An indifferent (;)) bottle of South African Sauvignon Blanc at hand to help us through.

Edit: Thus far, Excalibur it is not.

It looked bad from the previews. I have a few friends who went and saw it and were deeply disappointed in it. I like Guy Ritchie body of work for the most part, but this one did not look good.

Watch a classic, well classic to me.

Blade Runner - Directors Cut

Cate Blanchett.

I _just_ picked up (via DtD) a HD copy of Excalibur to replace my old DVD edition. As you might imagine, it's not like a modern digitial HD transfer, but it's super clean and definitely superior to my old copy.

Cate Blanchett is a goddess and can use me as a foot stool. :D

I've not seen Excaliber precisely because Guy Ritchie directed. He left a terrible taste in my mouth with his Sherlock Holmes treatment.

For some good Guy Ritchie I'd suggest: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch

... and as I tell everyone in advance, you can always turn on the subtitles :D

That's how I'd characterize the Guy Ritchie touch, he's all action. LSATSB was watchable action, but completely unsuited to Sherlock, imo. :)

Well, the version of Excalibur that I am discussing dates from the 80s; John Boorman directed it, and the wonderful Helen Mirren (just read the the names of some of the cast......Nicol Williamson, Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart, Nigel Terry......) had a major role.

Agree that Cate Blanchett is an excellent actress.

No Guy Ritchie didn't do Excalibur.
He did the "latest" King Arthur film.

I can assure you it is absolute crap.
Pretty much just a "Cockneyed" version.
Everyone is so street smart it hurts.

Though as I pointed out above,
"Though camp bonus feature was Jude Law in the role of Evil Queen from Snow White chewing the carpet"

Yes, definitely Blade Runner - Director's Cut.
So much better without the tedious voice over explaining everything to the apparently dumb audience.

I hope BR 2049 isn't going to be as massive a disappointment as the Alien prequels have been…

Yes, yes, and yes! Exactly!

I have my fingers crossed also and I won't comment on the Alien prequels..... waiving fists in the air......

Thanks for the correction and review! :) So does everything Ritchie touch turn into action?

I would say yes.....

Some of my favorite movies are from him.

Snatch
Lock Stock...
Rock n Rolla

Yeah, ugh, I am attempting to stay _very_ cautiously optimistic.

You and me both, god I hope this one isn't screwed up.

I did find something interesting in the trailer, when Harrison Ford says they were hunting us. Is he referring to replicants or to the cops who were hunting the replicants..... ??????

Yeah, and I wouldn't really categorize movies like Snatch as "all action", it's a heist movie, with clever dialog and a nice touch of dark comedy.

Both ... if they're the _same_.

On the Arthurian theme, I have a soft spot for King Arthur (2004) with Clive Owen et al.
Not too improbable as an explanation of a supposed historical Arthur.

Though why that noble Roman family were farming miles beyond Hadrian's Wall I never understood.

Best battle on ice scene since Aleksandr Nevsky. :)

And who could forget the immortal… Swept Away.
Best thing to do would be to sweep that under the carpet!

Well I guess this time they will spell it out that Deckard is indeed a replicant. Which would be a pity. Somethings are always nice to just speculate over and not have a confirmed answer.
Dreamy unicorn dreams FTW. :)
